What if my character is dreaming and is currently in one setting in their dream state and then awakes to be in another setting. Would it be okay to change settings on a whim then?
I have been on podcasts. Also, reaching out to bloggers/RUclipsrs helps. I have sold over 800 audiobooks including the rentals.
Thank you! I am hosting my book event tomorrow, and your video helped me brainstorm ideas.

I thought young adult books were for 12 years plus
Thank you, very useful
Tnkyu!!!
Thanks. These are great videos
❤ you mentioned that you had plan to pay some games during you book launch. But COVID killed that idea. What kind of games did you have planned?
Very informative.
This is some very good advice.
I tend to mix POVs. 1. A god telling another god about his favourite human (1st to 3rd). 2. An omniscient narrator becomes human and possesses characters (3rd to 1st) I saw a different interpretation on this on a different video. I’m going with that. Making it referral to someone other than the reader. Told by an alter ego within the mind or something.
Hello
Thank you for posting this! I have a master’s degree in library science, two novels published by a big five publisher, and have writing workshop, conference, and adult teaching experience, but I keep hearing that it would be a waste of time for me to apply for a college creative writing position. You are the first person to say the opposite. Thanks for the encouraging insight.
Thanks! Very helpful. I’m writing a time travel novel in first person.
Good ideas. Thanks.
I'm happy i finally found something im good at in my life. After 32 years of mistakes with a suïcideattempt by train as cherry on the cake wich cost me some limbs, broken back and almost every bone in my body, its like the kickstart i needed and i found my purpose in writing creative non fiction and fighting for patientrights. What im so happy about is that most of the tips in the video's i watch about creative non fiction is what i was already doing. Like it comes kind of natural to me. Ofcourse i make mistakes and ive learned a lot the last 6 months from my editor, youtube, reading etc. But still i feel like i can shine in something for the first time in my life. In a couple of months my first book "getreind" will be published, it means trained in Dutch, witch is my native language. The title has a double connotation as ive had a macabre training (my life) leading up to the suïcideattempt with a train. Nice video , i liked it
This is really useful, thanks!
Afraid of having ideas stolen and someone else may publish it as a book. What do think about this?
This was awesome thanks, I've been staying consistent with my notes. But my Happy Reading messages just seems so dry.
I can't hear her even in full volume
I enjoyed this video. You gave me lots of ideas for my book website.
Here in London, some older middle grade kids look at porn. I’m talking videos showing all kinds of violent sexual acts. A recent BBC article told how kids as young as nine are exposed to pornography. Some older middle grade kids carry knives. Why, in the news this very day, a 12 year-old boy stabbed five pupils and a teacher. (Okay, this was in Lisbon, not London, but …) Some older middle grade kids smoke weed. It’s not rare. This is 2024. Not 1924. Just saying.
Thank you for the info, I'll start doing some RUclips ads.
I am writing an encoded books/system. how do I transfer my knowledge to the reader?
This is so helpful. Would you be able to read my book at give me feedback? I will send for
Good tips; there is more to a signing than I imagined. Thanks
Great video, thanks for all the info.
Im trying to write a novel about people on a 80 year trip towards Proxima, but idk how could a disaster to be small enough to not destroy the ship…
Thankyou, this video's last note was not so harsh as some other's. feel a little better- thank you. I got frustrated because I had a chapter end on a character saying something "wistfully". I really didn't want to go into a definition of wistful. it's beautiful word and means what it means. "In a wistful way" is cheating and reads horribly. i did describe the character, I think perhaps people would understood she being serious, and the dialogue suggests desire- however wistful is more loaded and to end a chapter I thought it was perfect, punchy and super clear. More words weren't welcome there. Hope you agree. Slowly but surely ridding my draft of adverbs... reckon i'll get 95% of them- I said wistfully.
With a stamp because I'm disabled.
Excellent video. Gave me some useful triggers for writing my book. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the vid. I’m starting out.
I use this book to elicit verbal production from my recalcitrant EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students. We look at one page per class (we don't spend the whole class time on it though--we do other things too!), so the overall story unfolds for the students over the course of several classes. They take turns pointing out one thing (e.g., one character) on that day's page and saying whatever they can about it. This way, all levels of students are challenged and engaged. We all love it!
Very very helpful.
Thank you. I have been looking for this information. I am a very new writer and will definitely be subscribing for more!!!
I cant believe this video doesn't have any comments! It was very useful ❤ Thank you so much 🙏
Watching your video has helped me realize that I am NOT one to be writing a blog. It takes up my time that I need to write my stories. And I have left my blog to fend for itself months to a year. And I often can't figure out what to write for the blog. I'm more focused on my stories. Thanks for the video!😃
You are beautiful and your explanation is also smart. I love it.
Condom?
I have to respectfully [adv.] disagree with a fraction of this advice (not the latter parts). I realize the advice is aligned with much of what publishers seek these days, yet I disagree that your example omissions are more evocative (at least not for all of us). Your example of communicating the concept of "jovially" purely through dialogue, while omitting the adverb, doesn't come across to me as having only gained something without having potentially lost just as much or more. "Jovial" and "jovially" are very nuanced adjectives and adverbs implying not only cheerfulness and kindness in tone and body language but also humorous intent. There is no unambiguous way to read into such humorous intent through the subtext of dialogue alone in all but the most blatant of cases, especially given the potential gap between what the speaker finds humorous vs. the listener. I can appreciate the basics like how "spoken softly" can more concisely be replaced with "whispered", but I think we are culturally taking the idea of minimizing adverbs a bit too far. I don't mean to nitpick, but trying to eliminate "jovially" in a dialogue tag is an example in which I think we went too far. I'm speaking purely as a reader and not a writer by any stretch; I simply miss reading fiction of a sort where authors weren't afraid to liberally use adverbs in cases where they most concisely communicated ["articulated" perhaps as an alternative to "concisely communicated", yet there's an ambiguous gap between "coherent/eloquent" and "concise"; the two are not necessarily synonymous] intent.
I like jovial as well. I ended up describing the character as jovial with added description to support the claim, i.e grinning, relaxed posture etc etc- automatically everything the character then says is "jovially" spoken until such time as you decribe their demeaner changing. You can still use adjectives!? it's the ly words and certain filler words that need to be greatly reduced. Ultimately my take is that you can still SOMETIMES use adverbs. so if a character says one last line and it's delivered in a different tone and you don't want to load it with word salad before or after "said jovially" seems fine to me because it's justified.
This was very insightful and fascinating good video thanks

Thanks for this! Released my first book on Mon (Hope By: Amarah Parks) and I have a signing this Sunday on Mother’s day. This was very helpful!
I have too much Ezra Pound in me to disparage good writing, but what makes a writer valuable is, first, the uniqueness of his or her perspective about life. Nothing, beautifully written, is still nothing. Further: an MFA program, being part of a college environment, cultivates niceness and timid gentility. Further: It dilutes the sense of authority. You are the student, they are the teacher, and that distribution of status might seep into your mind. Further: it imposes a clock on one's writing, taking away the advantage of slow-cooking a piece for months and years - the advantage of waiting.
Thanks for the video. In my current story two of the characters will be communicating inside one of the characters' minds (not unlike how Lily Tomlin's character talked with Steve Martin's character in "All of me" after she died and was inside his head.) I've been searching for the best way to write out the conversations they are having and have been seeing so many different ways of doing it ... from italics with no quotation marks to *word* to <word>. It's hard to figure out the best method.
I am trying to get mailerlite set up althought have had some technical issues. still working on it
Hello! Thanks so much for your writing insight. Right now, I'm in the process of writing a realistic fiction story about two hugely popular 1980s pop singers, who eventually become a celebrity power couple! Y'see, my two main characters are people who were actually huge pop stars during the 1980s and 1990s. In reality, they didn't become a celebrity power couple-----but I always thought they should've! So, in my story, I'm rewriting their personal histories a bit. It's a story that I'm just writing for myself. I realize that if I wanted to publish my story, I would have to substitute their real names for fictional names. In my story, I'm mixing some FACTS with my own IMAGINATIVE FICTION, which I think is a GOOD IDEA. When I write, I much better with dialogue than exposition. I spend so much concentration on developing the conversations between my characters that I tend to neglect the description and exposition. I really would appreciate any ADVICE you could offer me.
I remember all of my past attempts to read the novel version of the novel, Gone With The Wind. That book has entirely TOO MUCH EXPOSITION, which is why I could NEVER get through it! I can't imagine what the author, Margaret Mitchell was thinking when she wrote that book. It wasn't surprising that it was her ONLY novel. HOW it was converted into a motion picture is a process that I would LOVE to hear about. Anyway, I much prefer that motion picture over the novel any day!
Why wouldn't the want to read about realistic violence? When I was 8 I read a book about a princess fighting dragons and she got all sorts of cut up and bloody. I loved it. Stakes, y'know? Everything is subjective. Some kids are more advanced, and writing this cushy nonsense feels like you're pulling the wool over their eyes.
