The current engines of the Chinese J-35/J-31 seem to be WS-10B or C of 12 tons of thrust each must 24 tons in total. In the near future the WS-15 of 12/14 tons would equip the J-35. The svtol version of the F-35 reduces its payload and its fuel capacity and therefore its range/efficiency because of the space taken by the additional engine behind the pilot and the nozzles which leave towards each wing to stabilize the vertical takeoff and landing. The current missiles in the hold of the J-35 are the short-range PL-10 and the long-range PL-15 (~250-300kms). The PL-21 of 400kms of range can be carried but under the wing because it is too big for the holds of the J-35. It is intended to equip the J-15B or J-15D EW on aircraft carriers and J-16, J-11, J-10 and J-20 under the wings for the Chinese Air Force.
