SCCA Pine Mountain Hillclimb 2022 Lance and Brad Stacked
Driving @greenwithnb Lance's Miata at the Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Pine Mountain Hillclimb. Lance hands me my lunch in the haybale chicane, but otherwise very close. I can't thank him enough for trusting me to drive his car in competition. Lance finished 4th out of 20 in Sport class, while I finished 6th. Can't wait to get back here with my car.

Rotrex Supercharged 1993 Mazda Miata at 2021 SCCA Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb. This was the best run, and was good enough for 1st place in Street Unlimited and 3rd overall. Why was Lance so mad lol
So I had no idea of this road but Apple Maps suggested this on my route home last night lol. Drove it in the dark in my Mk6 GTI and it was an experience. I got a little worried when the pavement ended but the dirt/gravel part wasn’t too bad.
Damn, that's a cool shop at the end. Awesome way to end the video. I just bought my first Miata this summer, a 2001 with the VVT engine and a few mods to make it breathe better and it feels amazing to drive and sounds fantastic, just like yours. Feels like you're doing 100 when you're really only doing 75 :)

Which direction does the incline run, coming from the northern end?
It climbs a bit from the northern end, but most of the road is after the crest.

It's actually called Pine Mountain State Park Road. We use the section from Laurel Cove Amphitheater to Chained Rock Road.

Great driving ! Really enjoyed seeing the different approaches. Top drivers steering units were a bit more corrective/erratic in slow corner exits, top driver has more linear inputs seemed more comfortable with driving out on throttle while front end is light. Any Porsche or MR car experience? Makes for a good strategy in MR2s and p cars

Thank you for this video. Is this Lynch Mountain that will lead you over into Virginia? If so, that mountain does not look as bad as people make it out to be. It's paved road and a very windy one, but it is not terrible.
Just got a 96 supercharged miata tuned on e85. I also own a 92 that's getting a turbo. Imma shoot for 12psi on that.

@@GazornanDSR Interesting, for some reason i expected you to be running some big sway bars. Any reason you run your particular setup? Is it just a matter of best feel or do you think it provides the most effiecent setup for going fast?
@@jacobsidorov This is a hillclimb and touge setup. I can run more front bar on track, but this is the fastest hillclimb setup due to the crown/camber of the pavement of the roads we run. With the Racing Beat front bar, it often holds the front tire off the ground, and causes front brake lock and drags the tire. The rear bar was small when matched to the RB front bar, and is non-existent to balance the NB front bar. The car is well balanced, and has more grip in and out of slow corners, and allows the suspension to work completely in this environment.
@@GazornanDSR Ah okay. I was familiar with people using that setup for autoX but I didn’t realize it translated well into hill climb setups. If you don’t mind me asking, what spring rates are you running? I just ordered a set of Flyin miata sway bars but now i’m realizing i probably didn’t need them lol. I’m also looking into getting better coilovers and am curious about what you think is a good spring rate for this type of driving.
