...for something completely different! When I'm not playing or teaching clarinet, I make the music for ballets with a computer. If you have some orchestral .sib (AVID Sibelius) files lying around, I can make them sound realistic for you on Fiverr! Link below. www.fiverr.com/s/8WxqLp

MAKING MISTAKES - why it's a good thing in lessons
1:01:55: The Ed is definitely an approximately E quarter-flat, which you played basically like a regular E-natural. I say approximately because Turkish theory is not based on quarter-tones, but rather on a subset of 53edo. 15\53 = ~340 cents, and 16\53 = ~362 cents, so it's either one of those. Definitely not an E-natural or anything like it.
Can you post the sheet music
Around 15:00 to 16:00: One of the great things about Turkish music is how microtonal it is! That's one of the main reasons for using such a soft reed - you can pitch-bend your notes like crazy, like on a guitar! I play a lot of instruments, but clarinet more than anything else, and I have one of these G Albert-system clarinets and love it! (I'm quite well-known in the world of microtonal music).
Then Ives be like hold my drink 😂
Hi Liam, thank you so much. Could you please add the name of the "guider" song? I'd love to find the pdf.
You make it look so easy 😭🖐️

It's even good in jazz! May I ask what brand this alto saxophone is?
Jealous of your tone🤩
Honistly i could pkay everything exepct for the high parts where it goes above i play cleirnet
I swear my flutter tongue is trash, thanks for reminding me to practice it
Qual programa usou para por as notas passando no vídeo?
as a beginner clarinetist do you have any tips to improve your sound?
I’m practicing this piece for my audition I hope it goes well 😂
Hi, I’m trying to play this solo in 8th grade for fun. Any tips you can give on the runs up? I can send a recording of me playing it if you need to use the to judge it thanks !
This recording is from 2009. From memory I just practiced the runs slowly about 20,000 times each :)
Oh thanks, was struggling on keeping em even!
This solo is insane I’m in the same grade and I can barely play an Altissimo F on a good day while playing scales, let alone in actual music 😭
Whenever I try to slide my fingers off, the note just doesn't come out and it plays nothing
when your finger is half off the hole, your clarinet's resistance quadruples. you gotta push the air through the instrument WAY harder to gliss. More tummy tension, take in more air, and burn more calories.
@liamclarinet Thanks
Played this my senior year 😎
is senior like 17-18 years old? I'm 18 in this video recording, 33 now :)
Do you have to roll your tongue to flutter tongue?
Most clarinet players flutter tongue by producing an "alveolar trill". I flutter by producing a "uvular trill". It's worse, but I can't make an alveolar trill, so I make do with uvular.
@ oh thanks
WOW
What about the appegiro (idk if i spelt that correct)
Did you create this solo? Fantastically placed silent eights at measure 10. Any tips on crafting solos? Books?
it's 85% the Sam Levine tenor sax solo. I only transcribe (I play in an opera and ballet orchestra for a living!)
It's not working
only works on 4's and lower.
Any tips for double tonguing in the clarion and altissimo registers? Below the break is fine.
not really. this method maxxes out at C above the stave for me. closer tip opening mouthpieces are easier for Hight note DT. as far as tips go, I just tried to increase my range by about 1 semitone/week. boring answer... regular, consistent, purposeful practice 🙂
@@liamclarinet that’s fair. After years of experimentation, I prefer a very open tip mouthpiece, so that makes sense why it seems harder than it ought to be! Took about 3 months to feel really comfortable in the lower registers. Let’s guess 6 for the upper stuff.
Thank you so much, this is a very clear explanation!
I'm learning this now, love it
which brand's model is this Eb?? sounds very cool
it's a selmer recital, no idea what year... I bought it third hand off a doctor who bought it from the Sydney Symphony associate principal clarinet.
Coincidence? I think yes
nothing is a coincidence when it comes to the algorithm

Hello, I have found a way and practiced for a while now, but my ‘ka’ cannot reach the range above throat tones. Is that because my ka is not strong enough?
I think that double tonguing gets harder and harder the higher up you go on the clarinet. what I did was increase my comfortable range by about 1 semitone per week until I could double tongue up to the high C two ledger lines above the staff.
the reason double tonguing sounds worse the higher you go up to clarinet is because the voicing is more unstable and accidental tongue movements that occur by pronouncing the syllable "ka" can distort the pitch more the higher you play.
I wouldn’t have been able to keep a straight face if a baby walked up to me like that while I was playing. So cute! 🥰
ha, in this vid she was an only child, now she's got 4 younger siblings. babies everywhere.
Excelente
How do you get your recordings to sound so nice?? I need to record for auditions and since it’s my first time ever doing this I have no idea what the expectations are.
One of the most difficult parts imo, can’t get it smooth but it’s a work in progress
Wow so beautiful sound i wish i could play like that ❤
Nice collaborating with you!
you're lucky
What song was played in the intro? It sounds soo nice. You have helped me so much
It's Amazing Grace, and thanks for the kind words!

Gosh - and there was I thinking he was playing with quadruplets. Beautiful playing, as ever. Nice to hear from you again - and the baby at the end - we've missed you.
Thanks! Mel isn't a quadruplet, but she has almost finished baking twins herself. That crying baby is now 2.5 years old, and, come December, will have three younger siblings...
