Sometimes a story unfolds in several parts-just because one part is over doesn't mean the story is. Nothing good gets away.

To all the beautiful things in life: A walk in the park, the taste of your favorite food, the purr of a cat. Here's to warm hugs, the love of a friend, the comfort of yourself, and the sun itself-let it all shine on you.

Some tension found its way into one of my latest loops-I wonder where it came from.

Inspired by a close friend's poem "Forward". Thank you, K! There's just something about the second, higher part of the solo that always brings about a stank face in me...
😍😯
So cool and well composed! Love it. What's your guitar?
Thank you! It’s a Yamaha Revstar RS502, but they are out of production, unfortunately.. was lucky enough to get this one from Reverb, maybe you’ll find a used one as well! They play super nice! Most of the tone comes from the P90s though, so that could be another option :) All the best from Austria!
Just wonderful.
dudee, it's very good, I'll listen to it now to study and chill out
i love it
pedal?
check out the other comment :)
Is good 👍 bra
That guitar tone is heaven in my ears
B l i s s.
Best cover ! Congrats Man !!! 👌
Fuego
sounds perfectly!
Hey! Love the cover! Wanted to know how you got the tone so well! Trying to recreate it but not going well.. :/
Hey Aakash! I gave a few insights as a reply to one of the comments below - and there is a video of Sean explaining his tone himself. Look it up on his channel, I'd always recommend going to the original source :) But the short version would be: Take a clean tone you like (depends a bit on your guitar and pickups, but go with something bassy), add saturation to make it thicker, then add a ton of compression, and then add reverb. In "It Ain't Weird" there is quite a bit of reverb actually :) Another very important tip is to play fingerstyle and be very careful about it. Turn it up and use the compression to make up for some of the unwanted differences in volume when playing fingerstyle. Good luck!!
Great Cover. Would love to see Seans "running".
Can you please tell me what effects or how to achieve that punchy sound on les Paul???please
Hey DEA! You will achieve the punch in the opening riff through your playing rather than with a specific effect rack. Once the riff starts, with almost every note I play, I hit all the strings and really dig into them hard. With the left hand I mute all strings except for that one string and its note I want to hear at any given time of the riff. Definitely takes some practice, but once you get it, the muted sound of the 5 blocked strings adds A LOT of initial punch to each note IF you really punch those strings. Don't forget that you can use your thumb to mute the lower strings, too! Effect-wise, the basic setup is rather simple: Push a clean and bright tone on your amp to the edge of breakup, so that you can control some of the distortion by the intensity of your playing. I added different kinds of compression, but that's not a necessity - just make sure not to have too fast of an attack, because you do not want to lose any initial punch! Obviously, you will need a bit of reverb, too :) Hope that helps a bit! Otherwise, just continue asking - I'm happy to help :)
Oh and btw, if you have humbuckers on your Les Paul it probably won't hurt to EQ (reduce) some of the lows :)
Thanks a lot I really appreciate your help
awesome music
Oh wow, you absolutely nailed this! The tone, the touch, the feel, amazing job!
🔥🔥🔥

Well played but you need another guitar with real pf pickups..
Hi Jabe, how do you record your covers?
Hi there, sorry for the late reply! It differs a bit from cover to cover - but an audio interface is always involved to connect your guitar to your PC/laptop. For this cover I used this chain: guitar -> Kemper Profiler -> audio interface -> DAW (digital audio workstation) I also used a MIDI keyboard to loop the kickdrum. For other covers I positioned a microphone in front of an actual amp: guitar -> amp -> microphone -> audio interface -> DAW In this chain, changing the position of the mic has a major impact on your tone! By the way, if you are interested in Sean's way of recording and getting that tone, take a look at his channel - he has uploaded a video on that some time ago. Often times, he goes with: guitar -> audio interface -> DAW That is called DI (direct injection), as in "directly into" your DAW. I hope I could help a bit. Feel free to reach out, if you have more questions! :) Cheers!
Really good groove! It's a little too staccato though - that's to do with your right hand. But most importantly, I beg you, try it without a wah. Crank the mids and lower the tone on your guitar. You will get much closer, trust me. Contrary to popular belief, there was no wah in the studio.
Hi Matt, thanks for your tips regarding the right hand - I'll give that a try :) I have to disagree about the wah pedal though, but maybe Mark Knopfler himself can convince you otherwise. He talks about using a wah pedal for this riff at 36 seconds - ruclips.net/video/59_juI9dnRY/видео.html Cheers! :)
@@jabeloop I would ask then why does every cover ive seen with a wah - including mark knopfers own live versions - sound way too scooped and are really missing the impact of the original? Because a wah removed far too much of the sound and you even get too many harmonic overtones that leak out when its played. Same with sultans of swing. Everyone thinks its middle and bridge because the live versions show that when in reality, the studio version is just the middle pickup. ruclips.net/video/kA0hdngRn5w/видео.html It was about mic placement. His sound engineer has a different story. And tbh, knopfler is not a gearhead. He’s a song writer. There is no wah version on yt that sounds anything close to having the punchy impact and growl of the studio version. I can get a lot closer with my amp set to a heavy distortion sound at medium gain with the tone rolled down on the bridge pickup. And the few covers on youtube that don’t use a wah sound closest too. Do you see where i’m coming from at least with the wah scooping too much of the sound out?
@@Hello_there_obi LMAO the original recording is literally played with a Wah Mark Knopfler has stated himself numerous times that it was.
Tabs?
I don't have any tabs, sorry! You could change the playback speed to follow along :)
Sean Angus Watson might have it available on his patreon!
👍
Lieb's 😊
Well done man, you nailed it! I especially loved the ocean sounds and visuals. Thanks for learning and sharing this. Cheers from the US!
The man himself - thank you! Planning on doing your "It ain't weird" as well. All the best from Vienna! :)
Hey, My Friend C0ol video you made here :D keep rocking and have a nice day :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome cover! Where did you got the tabs?
Hi Breno :) For slower solos like this one I mostly use my ears by now. But I am sure you can find tons of tabs on this one. You can also use the playback speed function of youtube to follow along (especially for live recordings to see what the original guitarist is actually doing). Good luck! :)
@@jabeloop Thank you!!!
What pedal are you using?
Hey Alessio, thanks for the question! To get a similar tone you could start by dialing in a clean tone in your amp and using a Big Muff/fuzz pedal. Maybe put a booster/overdrive in front of it, and definitely some reverb at the end. I added compression and some EQ in post (rolled off a lot of the lows). Good luck and let me know if it worked for you! :)
@@jabeloop thank you much! I'll definitely try that out!
Superb JB! Well played!
