L.G. Martin began working at the General Motors Norwood Assembly Plant in 1953, and worked there until 1987 when the plant closed. The Norwood factory built some of GM's most popular cars; chief among them, the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. Its closure was controversial, with many insiders speculating that it was corporate retaliation for the many strikes that occurred at the Norwood p...

GM has already debunked the idea of bringing the Pontiac line back.
Trans am would sale like crazy pontica was always way more sexy m9re aggressive
Heard about a pontiac phoenix
Arguably GM’s BEST design EVER.
Looks like A 1972 split bumper
I had a Pontiac Bonneville SSEI I cannot believe this is true that Pontiac is back
I want to THANK this man for his service! as both a soldier and a guy who had the RIGHT ATTITUDE about his work.....I never served....My father lost his lower left leg in a bailout of his P-38 in WWII.....Anyhow over my lifetime I had several Camaros including 1st Generation Z/28 Camaros. They played an important role into shaping my life. I was a UNION Building Tradesman for 35 years and my Union made it possible with a living wage to have a good life and maintain my passions for cars & motorsports as a hobby.
Tiffany inspired the flaming chicken….who would have thunk?
I'm sure there were problems in the plant, but these two brothers are examples of how they worked, worked hard and provided for their families and enjoyed the simple life. After all of these years, these two brothers are still each other's best friends. I have two Norwood assembled Trans Ams (1979 and 1980), so these two men were likely involved in some way, as both retired after my cars left the Norwood plant (April 1979 and January 1980 respectively).
i found your channel today and subscribed to it today 👍
What a nerd
Commander McBragg .😂
I have gms first attemp at sports utility vechlice the Pontiac Aztek .
I don’t care for them when they first arrived on the scene, but I really like them now!
Sweet Car and so True on the smells of a ol car and the importance of the Fuel.....Ol Chevys be around till the End of Time!
100%, YES !! It’s long overdue. Hopefully, the correct elements will be implemented regarding marketing, engineering and design. If the input of the public is needed, so be it.
"COPO" on the 1970 Camaro was literally just the 9796 3-piece spoiler option which was only available AFTER April 1970.
That was when America was great a 16 yr old able to buy his own car with earned income.
In all fairness, it was about an 11 year old car when Phil bought it at 16. He bought it in the early 80s
I think that interview was done at the Cleveland Autorama
It was!
Great story🙄
The old boy mechanic taught u stuff people pay for and maybe saved your life 👍
70 1/2 RS split bumper I miss it so much
Rich kid
It was actually a 10 year old car when he bought it. Would have been purchased for a used car price at the time.
I still have my original car that my father bought me in 1975 1969 formula s barracuda my father paid $550 for the car
The center section of the spoiler is part #480161 and that portion was sourced from General Tire, not A.O. Smith, so perhaps Mr. Borris was only speaking about the end caps specifically. I have several used and an NOS one that I bought at Roper Pontiac-GMC in Joplin, MO. The owner of the dealership Hal Roper reportedly tripped over it one day in the parts department and instructed Jim Barry the parts manager to "get rid of that thing". I got it for a great price as a result of that. Also, I'm not sure why GM would investigate his use of the Parts Voice system unless it was because he was hogging up the number and other dealerships couldn't access the system. Parts Voice now is online, but back in the 1980s, it was phone based and would give you the dealership that had the part number in question and their phone number. You then could call them. Many times the items were "mandatory scrap" and dealers would get rid of them reasonably. I got several parts for my Trans Ams that way. (I too had the "secret code" access to the system). One item of note for Mr. Borris and I'm sure he knows this. He stated, "I only buy the part numbers that are in the 1970 assembly manual, not superseded part numbers". That's not always good logic because sometimes the superseded part number is the same as the old part number just with a different number because it may be from a different supplier or have improvements to it. I get what he's trying to do, but any service parts you buy were likely made after the vehicle was built, so they wouldn't be "period correct" as far as assembly goes, but would be "service correct" as far as what would have been installed at the dealership during a service visit or a repair.
These cars really weren't that fast yrs ago , I have a newer xamaro with 700 hp and could always use a little more lol respect your car and u won't have a problem
My last ticket was 128 in a 55. Cop told me switch to 4 wheel drives, or you're going to die in a crash. Had 35points also. BEEN DRIVING TRUCKS EVER SINCE 😊
So what's COPO about it? A Z28 with LT1 was fast anyways
It was the spoiler. Those weren’t standard, or even an advertised dealer option. Was something ordered through the central office as a special part to help it compete in the trans am racing series.
70 1/2 , No , ???
67 SS I did the Dukes of Hazzard 60 + miles an hour head on in descent culvert and had my license for only 3 weeks complete total it's so hard I even broke the camshaft I'm lucky to be alive
That's an Ohio State Patrolman looking at the car, I wonder who that was?
That was actually the car’s first owner! Yep, Phil bought it from him at age 16.
Uncle who had a 70 1/2 ss was 1500 the same year z28 was 2500 he should have brought the pair home
I would take the big block corvette every time. That car was not that nice brand new.
My all time favorite GM Design, the 2nd gen is The most beautiful car They ever produced. However, I would much rather own an all original Clean example to drive And enjoy. This is a Great car, but it’s static. Like a stuffed animal, not A living breathing entity. It’s kind of a shame…
Beautiful car my friend D got a red 1970 with white stripes and a blower thru the hood big slicks in the back car is insane fast
A fast sedan. SUVS and crossovers are fine for mom and the kids and dad's who don't dig cars. But the death of the sedan makes baby Jesus cry. Gimme a car that looks like a plain jane, cheap, commuter sedan on the outside but has all the toys on the inside. A sluggish looking Dr Jekyll sedan with MPD that turns into Mr Hyde when you put your foot in it or twist the wheel. Can't do that with SUVs and crossovers because their center of gravity is too high.
When i was a kid i wrecked my '68 Camaro head on into a tree @ 35mph (and walked away). It was toast. I feel your pain.
Omg she's adorable.
Very few 70 cars were made ,it was a strike year and many were held up to become 71s , same cars just the dates changed, that why they called them 70 and a half year cars , not that it matters now .
That spoiler event kinda reminds me of something, like a V8 option on a certain sub-compact.... Absolutely drop dead gorgeous! I miss mine! They just look naked without the front & rear spoilers!
Jeez more boring content
1971 has the front turn signals elongated underneath the headlights
Consequences Go figure
Sorry bro, you still don't know anything about cars. That's a 70 and 1/2 Z28 because it has the bumperettes the bumper does not go across the grill
It's a 70 and a half... that's when they came out with that body style
No such thing as a 70 1/2 You can argue it all you want but check GM books or whatever any official literature and you will never see GM refer to it as a 70 1/2 they were behind in production but always listed as a 1970. Go licence one and see how the insurance company writes it up, 1970. Do you ever hear anyone call the last 1969 Camaro's 1969 1/2 ? Nope.

Really cool to see he's still got it wish I would keep mine at age 17 thanks for the video 💪🏼🏁
Shone it
Fully agree 💯 % @ James need 8789. They can stick the ev where the sun don't shine
Good thing it wasn't a big block car, he REALLY would have had trouble with that.
If you can't handle a 70 Z28 then...😅
