Johnson 70 running great after sitting 15 years!
Does it have power trim
Got this exact engine. Had a sticking float that required getting these carbs off. You’re a lifesaver. Most convoluted setup ever.
the spring actually wraps AROUND the throttle linkage to put tension on them to snap them shut on the bottom. im also not convinced the choke springs are where they should be but id have to look at one of mine. great job cheers. people put the wrong flywheel key on and dont lap the tapers back together after they spin. if the tapers arent lapped, it will spin again.
Does the propeler ever broken ???
What pitch prop are you using? Seems to struggle when loaded.
These engines were some of the best built/designed by any manufacturer. Rugged, reliable, powerful, and simple to service and repair...OMC would still be in business today if this engine could still be produced.
I think I would rather have an electric trolling motor with a nice full charged battery and a solar panel that would go just as fast as that boat and it wouldn't be as noisy
Well , that was exciting
Not very informative!, what speed would have been more useful than explaining how to change gears. Fuel consumption ? Prop ?
wire nuts? You’re kidding right?
They were only temporary until I got my hands on some crimps and heat shrink. Just wanted to show the motor running!
Nice! Working on the same outboard. How fast did you get up to with it?
Awesome! I was able to push 26 mph roughly with just me
Hey, you made this motor great again 👍
It the to clean you motor
How about cleaning it? It looks like shit all over it
cant wait to fire up my 1979 55hp evinrude
That'll be awesome!!
Nice one buddy 🙂
That thing rips 😎
They sound quiet but still can't beat the power to weight ratio of a vintage 2 stroke... Time to change the woke laws
Ok boomer
@@rldesroch Ok Wojak
@@randyreal5871 🤡🤡🤡🤡
I have a 2023, 30 Suzuki. I will never have a 2 stroke again.
@@JamesJones-cx5pk wait until you need to take it apart
Yo nerd 12 pitch
Up up and away in my beautiful balloon.... 🎈. 😮
...and a no show for a shot of the bow of the boat underway?
Did better than I expected.... 😮
What a waste of time
Looking for a 55 or 60hp johnson 80 to 83 yr with tilt n trim
Got a 6hp four stroke on my 11 footer.
Great job doing the clean up and getting it running..however, those electrical connectors are going to be the next owner's nightmare!! I've seen it on boat motors, bikes and all manner of things I've worked on over the years. Corrosion and vibration is going to have them causing untold electrical issues in the not too distant future. If I was looking to buy and popped the hood and saw it, I'd ask myself..what else did he shortcut on with this motor?? Everyone of them should be removed and the wiring be redone with soldered connections, shrink wrap and di-electric grease..just saying, if you're gonna do it, do it old school so it never has to be done again and take pride in it!! Plus most buyers will see the care and attention to detail and you'll make more money in the long run. You've got the skillz, just up your game a bit and go from average boat motor mechanic to GREAT boat motor mechanic!!! I hope you take this as the constructive criticism it was meant to be and not a troll!! Cheers...
Thank you! Always open to constructive criticism and new learning!!
How old are you?😂
Nice 1988 evenrude 88hp on new bass tracker 175 tore up 60hp mercury got new controls bombader johnson sold mercury controls sold torn up mercury 60 got light used 88 hp evinrude 1980s 😊😊
You need to replace your impeller quickly
John playing with his Johnson lol nice motor I have a 1993 70hp Johnson on my 16-5 v hull skiff boat does about 45
Lol isn't that right! Wow, that's impressive!!
멋지네요. very nice video
Thank-you!
Hey, I’m hoping you can direct me to some links for a piston and rings? I’ve got one piston down on compression and I’m having a hell of a time to find info for my 76’ 55hp.
Hi there. Crowleymarine.com commonly has these types of parts. That is where I get many of mine.
Nice boat, I have rubber boat, talamex 300 , oufboards 2 mercuryand suzuki. Lakes here zfill on ice.😊
Finland i mean...
Awesome!
My Dad/Our Family had a 1974 115. Was an amazing engine....ran for 20 years and was still running when it was sold!
Thats awesome! These motors were totally bulletproof!
@@CanadianMarineGuy They aren't that Bulletproof, they tend to break Piston Rings, and Top Ring Groove, on a Regular Basis.
What size prop are you running
It is the stock 9.25 10 RR
Need link to motor
Ok.. do you have any Suzuki dealers in your area? They are your best bet 😄
i got a 40 hp on my 11 foot boat
Wow I bet that flies!!
man if you put the TH Marine Mini Jacker on this you would get 30 easily.
I bet! I'll check it out!
I have a 9.9 4 stroke on my 14 foot boat and it does great I live on a rough lake so 20mph is plenty
That's perfect!!
how did you trim it, what hole did you use?
2nd hole up worked best for me!
The 2.5 Suzuki is an iron pig champion workhorse!!! Check out what Steve at Key West Kayak Fisherman on RUclips has done with his!!! Beast little engines!
Totally agree! Love mine. Use it as kicker motor on my current setup, never let me down. I will check out key west!
That engine is way too much motor for that boat. Not!
Did you have the motor at full power?
Yes I did!
What pitch is the prop?
What ia the wight of a boat?
Let’s race
Does this engine supposed to shake that much at idle? Has it always done that? Any issues with it since buying it?
I have seen many videos of this motor and this shaking appears to be within norm. However, it is very quite on idle, it has its many redeeming qualities.
@@alexaustin2527 ok thank you just curious. got me a 15hp Zuki on order... can't wait.
@@alexaustin2527 I agree! I just got a 20 and it seems to vibrate a bit at half throttle. That's the only negative I can say about it. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I run mine on a 16.5ft Alumacraft. It's a 700 lb boat and with my dogs, we add close to another 500 lbs (230, 150, 120). So far I've only seen around 14 mph heading into some pretty good wind and waves. I'm thinking it should be much better on low wind days with flat water.
It is SO QUIET, excellent engine!! I thought you haven't even wont to full thortle, just as what I heard? And confirm that when run with 1 person only, 15hp is fair enough. I had to use some xtra balast even though my boat is heavy: ruclips.net/video/rx8mUQXE0yA/видео.html
It makes a lot of sense due to impact of planet, 4 stroke don't make any smoke, un like our 2 strokes, I have grown up with 2 stroke, however I think if they dropped the prices on 4 stroke and made them more affordable on market, to buying 1 these 4 stroke outbords I would buy one straight away.they are just so expensive. Even for average, guy.
I finally went ahead and bought a 4 stroke yamaha 25hp cause it was the lightest u can get apparently at 126lbs…… and my 1996 mercury 25hp weighs around 110lbs i believe?.. i was real hesitant on buying a 4 stroke because they look sooo damn huge and heavy
Very quite very impressed.
