Day 462 of finding out what is in our little Bexhill garden (Camera 1)- 17/10/2026
Life in the camera trap house day 462..........plenty of activity last night, as well as plenty of heavy rain. Was a mix of fox and rat action to start with, although when they were both in the garden at the same time the fox did chase after the rat. The badgers then turned up to have their fill and the fax hit squeezed out. He did sit on the grass as he is a good boy, sneaking in to grab the odd morsel. 🦊🦡🦡🦡🦡🐀

Life in the camera trap house day 461...........was a full on fox filled night last night. Never seen them spend so long eating and exploring. On a few occasions the foxes even stayed with the badgers. Life in the camera trap house day 460............well, the usual suspects turned up last night with the badgers turning up so late that the fox managed to spend an absolute age eating. Life in the camera trap house day 459............a busy badger filled night last night. It did start with a fox though., which arrived before the sun has a set, and about 30 seconds after I'd put the food out. Life in the camera trap house day 458...........just caught the early evening before the battery was drained. Caught the initial appearance of the fox before the badgers arrived. Compared to last year, the badgers seem to get along better. There is always the youngsters who have to respect for their elders and do a word spinning thing from time to time, but last year there were proper squabbles...

Life in the camera trap house day 455...........considering it was another wet night, there were come critters out. Luckily it was drier when the evening started, which means they could eat in relatively dry conditions. Once the heavier rain started the bigger critters (apart from one) ran off. Life in the camera trap house day 454...........considering it was cold, wet and windy last night, I'm surprised that all the badgers turned up and along with the other critters. Very nice have had a badger now and again but not a fox, even though I am next door to countryside.
In the summer we get up to 4 foxes, 8 badgers, cats, mice, rats and the odd hedgehog

I set trail cameras up for three weeks in my garden, and then I gave up because all i caught was foxes. Do you think it would be worth giving it another go and being more patient??
Yeah. I only started because I noticed that something was digging up my bulbs. Decided to put out a left over sachet of cat food and discovered that it had gone. So went on amazon and got one camera and when I did I noticed little things moving in the background. So that's when I set up two more cameras. My garden is only small. The lawn is about 10ft by 15ft and there is only a small patio, but we have had 3 foxes and 8 badgers in the garden at one time. There were so many badgers that I couldn't actually see the lawn at all from one of the cameras. It was insane. I just put out a scoop of fox/badger/hedgehog food for the badgers and foxes and a small scoop of seeds for the mouse and they absolutely love it.

The big one with the black and white striped face is a Eurasian Badger.
is the badger a reoccurring character?
Yeah. There is a family of 8. They come into the gardens in groups of 2 to 4 normally hut they have come as a group of 8 before. The garden is only small so it was very crowded
