Denny Laine - Say You Don't Mind (1967 Promo Video) [HD]
Posting in tribute to the late Denny Laine who sadly passed away on 5 December 2023.
Denny’s debut solo single was the self-composed Say You Don’t Mind. The track was released on the Deram label on 14 April 1967, backed by Ask Yourself.
Having left the Moody Blues in October 1966, the track was recorded in early 1967, produced by Denny Cordell with a string arrangement by John Paul Jones. Reviewing the track in Record Mirror, Peter Jones noted the “rather clever performance and song”, but also pointed out ‘it may be a bit too complex for general consumption”, which unfortunately turned out to be the case as the track failed to chart in the UK. Music video directed by Hammer & Tongs - remastered in HD. Lava was first released in November 1996 where it reached number 52 in the UK charts. The song was re-released the following year in October 1997, where it climbed slightly higher to number 35! The song also appeared on the debut album, Silver Sun (produced by Nigel Godrich).
