Just, Utterly Utterly Beautiful.
OK.. this song has been performed by Sandy Denny, Steeleye span, the Dubliners, the Corries, the levellers, and a HOST of majestic singers... In truth guys, I honestly think your version is the best I have EVER heard. Thank you for posting this, it made me happy. And these days, happy is a rare emotion.
Agree!

This gave me goosebumps on top of my goosebumps, too many superlatives to even begin 👌🏻
Well done lads, glad the elderly man didn't have to wait for the bus, lovely filming Myles.
Can’t wait to see you in Chicago
anyone know how he has the greek zook tuned..... its really nice... :)
G D A D Irish zouk style!
Sibling harmonies always do seem to have that special edge.
Who is handling ghe camera? it is a movie in it's own! Genius of what is happenining on the outside!
Gillian Welch calls it "blood harmony". Not sure where she got that, but yeah, I've heard a lot of wonderful harmony singing from siblings.
@@Trollificusv2 Blood harmony is a good word!
Beautiful!
Its wonderful to see our great culture continue through the younger generation, Fear mór oibre!
Agreed, how come guys like this never become popular...?
The hairs on my arm stood on end.
Love it!
Great Singers
How is it every time they sing this they sing it better,,,more melodious greater variation deeper feeling a new drone,,,I can only guess that every time they sing they are getting closer and closer to the first time it was sung,,,,to the young woman who lost her lover on the lowlands,,,singing in the purest mixolydian mode,These gypsies,,, these Bengal bauls,,,have journeyed from Vienna to Cork seeking this young womans voice,,,,here in this tiny bookshop they get one step closer,The more they travel the further into the past they go,,,back to the first singer,Why are the Irish driven to wander the earth seeking the first singer ,,the first song,,,and then to make it all new again, I dont understand,But I begin to understand that ten year old pianist from Oregon who heard Martin Hayes in Dublin,,,and has followed him ever since,,,now as part of The Gloaming,He says he got caught in the net of the music and couldnt escape,I am caught in the net of this song,,,caught on the lowlands,,,I would love to be there if these gypsies ever become the young woman and sing her lament for the first time
Not mixolydian. It's pure major mode with the 7th degree at a half-tone from the tonic. Note that this 7th is only played once in the melody.
It's better and better! The thruth!
This is possibly the best comment I've ever read about music. Perfection.
Best version ever...
Yeah, it is up there with Nathalie Merchant!
Beautiful performance - can anyone give me a hint on how to play this?
Felix Sigmund no idea but dexterity in the fingers seems essential.
On what instrument ?
By God, this i REAL life!!
on a guitar - try starting in the key of E (the other chords u'll need will be A, & B)... to mimic the bouzouki pitch try capo at the 8th fret n play in A (E,D)... for all the twiddly bits... thats quite a lot of practise... go for it

Absolutely enchanting - but then I wouldn’t expect anything less from them. Chills pretty much every time.
Agreed! agreed brother!!
How absolutely soulful and beautiful. Thank you. I
Fantastic version of this song from 2 lads with a unique and distinct style and quality. Maith sibh.
Many have sung this and this is as good as any!
