He plays so expressively and inwardly, and his extensive experience as concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic gives him the understanding of how to play with the orchestra rather than the orchestra as background to the soloist.

There will be people who love Boulez and people who love everything Rouse has published. Many people write from both of these opposite ways of generating music. Perhaps the best succeed as music. Boulez 2nd Sonata will always astound?Gorgon ,Seeing, theTrombone concerto of Rouse will always exemplify great musical experience.

Even though I'm a fan of Jascha Heifetz, the Beethoven is one of the few pieces I would say isn't suited for his style of playing. The concerto can be quite laborious if you take your time on the piece, but this is where the pay off is. My gold standard on this piece is Yehudi Menuhin, however Leonid Kogan checks all the boxes on an excellent performance. Thank you for sharing this beautiful performance!

0:43 They watched the Paganini movie, "The Devil's Violinist". Maybe that's why they thought it was done? (The movie ended at the main theme before the first variation as well) I'm kidding. Obviously, they are just disrespectful. It's easy to know when a piece is done if you just watch the person playing the piece.

No way he can produce that sound only with the left hand. I think it's a mixed technique. You can clearly hear that he is hitting the strings with the bow but one or two notes are also slightly vibrating. He is so quick that it's hard to tell@@aaron9262
