Hi and welcome to my channel. This channel will feature everything and, for example, it will include kayaking, sailing, fishing, four wheel driving, gold detecting, plants and desert roses, hiking and whatever I do in my spare time. I'm 62 years old, manage an electrical contracting business with my eldest son and I write novels. I'm trying to teach myself to play the guitar so even that might be uploaded in the future. I drive a 2006 Toyota Hilux extra cab with a tray back and I've worked on it myself and I will feature that in another video. My motto is if someone can do it I'll have a go at it because life is too short to do nothing. Cheers all.
Starlink standard kit speed tests
I doing several speed tests on my new Starlink standard kit to show you what speeds are achievable. It's much better than I expected and I very happy with the results. It had to be better because the NBN I had was very poor to say the least. Cheers.

Starlink and the reason behind the purchase
Просмотров 754 часа назад
My internet failed and I couldn't upload any videos. Our service provider wouldn't replace the faulty cables because NBN were going to replace them, in December 2025, with fibre to the premises. I start off with showing my internet speed before I changed to Starlink. This 11 minutes video would have normally taken about 3 hours to upload but with Starlink it uploaded in 12 minutes. I'm wonderin...

See the sights of Sydney Harbour from a different perspective. Sailing aboard the Coral Trekker, an authentic 1850's style square-rigged ketch with rustic red sails, you sail past Fort Denison, Garden Island, Shark Island, Luna Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, just to name a few. We enjoyed an ice-cold beer and a freshly-made three course meal while learning about the Coral Trekker and Sydne...

Canopy temperature - a subject no one talks about. Why?
Просмотров 698Месяц назад
In this video I’m testing the temperature, in my chequer plate alloy canopy, for 24 hours on two separate occasions. I’m doing this to see if a 75L fridge adds heat to the inside of a canopy in a 24 hours period. The temperature data logger I’m using is a Digitech QP-6013. Some RUclipsrs insulate their canopies but my data shows there isn’t any need to do this. If your canopy is wrapped or pain...
Adventure Kings 240W and 120W solar blanket tests
Просмотров 412Месяц назад
This is another long and boring video about Watts, current and solar blankets. I start off testing the new Kings 240 Watts solar blanket and, because the sky is cloudy, I add in a Kings 120 Watts solar blanket which gives me a total of 360 Watts of solar blankets. Even though it was a cloudy day I was impressed with the output current of the two solar blankets reaching a peak output of 294 Watt...

The Oztent SideKick stool is the ideal companion for around the campfire on your next camping or touring adventure. The Oztent Sidekick stool can achieve all this through a clever transforming design. The K-Largo provides a stable platform with lots of additional extras to fish from. Even though there is lots of leg room and excellent stability...

We bought 6ft today and after 1 or 2 use, the rope tangled inside the spool so badly. We manage to untangle it but we still have problems with spool.
Mate, great video. Just bought the 6ft for the kids and tried it out on the weekend down at Brunswick heads. I had some problems with it spooling, did that happen with you at all? I'm no fisherman, wouldn't actually know what to do if I caught one, but I was close to taking them both back. I'll play around with them and see how it goes.
One of them got tangled badly but that was my fault. I just cut some line off the spool and it didn't happen again. Cheers.
If you were worried about the cement stains a tinted bonnet protector would hide majority of it 🤙
Which side is the entrance on Heatley side or Garbutt side?
It's on the Garbutt side. Down the very end of Bays Water Road is the start of the track and the parking is around the corner. Cheers.
Something to look forward to next winter
Keep up the great vids mate
Cheers mate. Looks awesome to me. Thanks for your video.
I'm going camping soon and I'll be using it because there's a no moon. Cheers.
Your videos really attract me! Then, I visit your channel and watch your videos. Your videos are very amazing and helpful. You are making videos. But, I noticed a few areas where I could help optimize your videos to reach a larger audience. Would you be open to discussing this further?
Thank you for the Ride sail alone 😊❤😊 what a beautiful working vessel. She is so ship shape 😊
Thank you :)
Thanks for that! was thinking about getting one but suspected it might have been a bit weak on power.
Good on ya Derek! Keep the videos coming
Say a beautiful looking mirror but expensive.I'd like to get a set but not eight hundred dollars
I put San Hima mirrors on my Hilux, and they look like Clear view mirrors, for under $400 but I wish I fitted the MSA mirrors instead. The San Hima mirrors are too big and I'm constantly trying to look around them. The clip on mirrors for towing are useless and that's why I fitted the MSA mirrors to my Colorado. Cheers.
@@derekeasterbrook6791 They look great, don't get me wrong, but they're just too expensive.
I've checked this out a number of years ago and found that on close to a 40 degree day, the temp inside the aluminium canopy rose to nearly 60 degrees in full sun, and with a roof top tent on under similar conditions the temp inside the canopy rose to around 50 degrees. So around a 10 degree drop in temp with a roof top tent and some free air flow. I'm putting some electronics in soon so will be looking to insulate the doors and sides only to reflect some of that midday heat but leaving the celling in aluminium to act as a heat sink. Having an electrical/electronics background I know that general domestic/comercial grade components aren't rated to more that around 55 degrees Celsius.
Interesting video Derek. I have a fibreglass canopy and it's probably the same as your unpainted aluminum one. No heat problems at all really. Just the fridge and electrics. No oven.
Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Cheers.
just wondering how you store it
I store it with 3 other kayaks on a 3 tier rack in my shed but you can hang it on a wall or put it whatever space you have available. Cheers.
not bad for cloudy day, still usable.
Hell yeah!!
Has it lasted for you and does it work ok?
I sold this camper trailer 2 years ago. I've set-up my Hilux with a canopy and I purchased another Kings 1500W pure sine wave inverter to run off a Kings 120AH lithium battery. It works fine and you can use the sockets, for 240 volts appliances up to 1500W. I've made several videos using air-fryers, sandwich presses, an electric BBQ and I'm making another video using a coffee machine. With the 120AH lithium battery you are restricted, by the BMS, to drawing a continuous maximum current of 120 amps and a 5 second peak current of 160 amps. I'm very happy with the inverter. Cheers.
G'day Derek, did you ever test the 240-watt blanket by itself on a sunny day...? If so what input (Amps or Watts) did you get out of it...?
I haven't had a chance to use it on a sunny day because I'm still working full time, it's also been cloudy on my days off and the house and yard maintenance have had priority. Cheers.
Why don’t you give us the current when it’s being efficient not when u first turn it on
Good stuff looks good mate 👌
Very warm weather for this time of year, perfect for outdoors
Looking good mate i used to love kayaking down the Yarra in the Yarra valley. I did have an advantage when it came to taking the kayak off the mount ..im 2 meters tall haha.
Being that tall would certainly help, cheers.
looking good so much like my own set up except looking closely at how you are setting up the canopy i wish id got the xtra cab as well not the single cab but i got what i got . Keep it up really enjoying your videos and tips , hope that's not croc country :) , ive seen then use a glyphosate type spray for weeds in water it makes the weed sink and rot out.
There are only fresh water crocs in there but it's not far from the salt water where there are crocs. People do swim in weirs in the Ross River but I never would. Cheers.
nice video Derek....can i just confirm...i know its in the description but can you confirm this fan runs at all speeds via usb even when the batterys low ? cheers m8
I've never had to plug it into a USB because the fan runs for a really long time on the rechargeable battery. I generally go camping for 2 nights but I've used it for 3 nights on low and it didn't run out of battery. I would assume it would run normally through a USB but I might have to run it flat and test that it works perfectly via a USB. Cheers.
Hi Derek, I bought one of these panels a couple of weeks ago and on a sunny winters day here in Perth, I got 170 watts on my Elejoy solar multi-metre. Be good to see what it can later in the year
My 240 watts solar blanket just peaked at 195 watts on a partly cloudy day and, when I added in my 120 watts solar blanket, I achieved 295 watts. I think 320 watts or more would be achievable in perfect conditions with the two blankets. Cheers.
I agree with the 200 Ah lithium I've got a 120 great batteries.
some good ideas there
Thanks for the comment, cheers.
Well done for putting this video out there Derek. This solar blanket seemes to pump out the amps really well and I'd buy this after watching your video. I hope KINGS or 4wd supacentre look after you. Thanks mate 👍🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Great video mate.....was that last test when u moved to the truck installed meter showing just the kings attached.?
Yes, I just plugged in the new Kings 240 Watts blanket into my 4x4 without any solar regulators. It goes through a Redarc 25 amps DC to DC charger and it has an inbuilt MPPT solar controller. The Renogy battery monitor displays the amps, Watts, voltage and how may amps are in the 120ah Kings lithium battery. Cheers.
Go Derek! Keep the videos coming :D
The black charging cable that comes with the NOCO jump starter doesn't suppoprt fast charging, to take adventage of the fast charging future, use the usb C cable that came whit the KINGS 100W adapter.
They're great rods for backpackers and for space-saving reasons.
Thanks for the reply, cheers.
💙💙🤗🤗❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺THANKYOU BOSS CHAMPION REVIEW IM A SERV GUY WILL BE FANTASTIC IN BACK OF TRUCK Derek also boss runs off a usb C power bank plugged in also they do a deal $59.95 u get fan and a kings 10mah power bank I’m sold nicce work Dereck…
Take care of yourself mate.
This is a worthy clip Derek. Very interesting thank you.
Nice mate works well.
Thanks for the feedback, cheers.
I have one too. Nice little swags but yes, could do with more padding on the ground.
A 70mm mattress would be ideal and the double swag comes with that size mattress. Why not fit a 70mm mattress to the single swag. Cheers.

Great video mate, i actually took my ridge ryder one back because the blanket is not water resistant. Such a shame.
Thank you for the work you did.
Much cheaper to buy a length of Aly else where. EG I brought a 6 m length of angle 40 X 40 X 3 mm for the same price as a 3 m length from Bunnings. Try going the 10% off with Bunnings as advertised by them. But they wouldn't do it because that was under the cost of what they paid. Aly was not on sale. It pays to shop around!!!
I have to agree, value for the money you pay.
Good info thanks for the upload
That's a handy tool. You've given me a project idea where I can use up my old air fittings. I just need some air hose. Cheers, mate.
It will certainly be cheaper than $200, which is what I paid. Cheers.
Picked one up the other day good unit.
Can you tell me the make of the battery monitor please
Hi, it's a Renogy battery monitor. Cheers.
Great project mate.
That’s a good idea well done u could put some thick washers or spacers where u screwed it to the roof to give u a few mill gap for the max tracks
That's a great idea and I'm going to do just that, add some washers, to give me a little more room to slide the Maxtrax in because they're really tight at the moment. Cheers.
@@derekeasterbrook6791 yeah that be the easiest way to give u room 😀👍🏾 love ya videos to by the way
