“Jurassic Coast Hike: Climbing Quarry, Crashing Waves, Robin Encounter & Escaping the January Blues”
“Join me on a thrilling winter hike to the stunning Winspit Quarry, nestled along the rugged Jurassic Coast, on a cold, windy January day. The clear blue skies provided the perfect backdrop as massive swells crashed against the cliffs, creating a mesmerizing sight and sound. In the heart of the quarry, I enjoyed some top rope soloing on the classic sports climbing routes, making the most of this incredible outdoor playground. Sheltered from the wind, I took a break to refuel and shared a few crumbs of my lunch with a friendly robin that fearlessly ate from my hand-an unforgettable moment of connection with nature.

Another climb from the Bower. Apparently one of the easiest 6a's on Portland. With a couple of tricky moves, the second of which I managed to edit out most of my faffing to keep the video to a reasonable length. Bob lead it with style

Out on local November bivvy. Firebox woodstove with cast-iron cookware. Cooking hassle back sweet potatoes with sausage and beans. A cold night but warm and snug in my hammock. Early to rise for cooked breakfast of bacon and egg, before packing up as the snow started to fall.

Great, thanks
Excellent breakfast in the morning halflight, would you consider a repeat performance on the Avon/Stour confluence New Year’s Day?
What a splendid idea. We will have to make a plan!
Mmmm looks yummy 😊 i have the xl bushbox to try out , ive also got a cheap chinese one that you have to build up which i like but i thought id treat myself to the bush box that just folds out.
Have fun with the bushbox. it’s definitely a lot easier to have a folding stove, you are less likely to lose bits, especially this time of year. Thanks for commenting.
Great set up Nick, cracking video. Just subscribed to show my support from a fellow RUclipsr 😉👍
Thanks for your support and comments Phil, it’s truly much appreciated.

Good job! that looks scary.
Yes, you're right. can be a bit of a shock as it's the easiest climb in this section. Cheers
Nice film Dad looks like a glorious day. Are you using a Petzyl Connect on your way up?
Yes, those days have been in short supply lately. You’re correct, it is Petzl Connect. A great bit of kit for sports climbing, clipping in at the top so that you can faff in safety. Also great for what I was doing in that video.👍

Style comes at a cost, but what value do you put on your life? Cheers for commenting 👍
Beautiful
Great, glad you enjoyed it.
wonderful to see wild boar piglets BUT was mum watching you with interest. i could smell your supper thro' 'tinternet . . .
Glad you enjoyed it. Apparently they are Mangalitsa pigs famed for their tasty fatty meat. Introduced to RSPB Arne for a more natural habitat restoration.
A delicious camp cookup, and my favourite nosh YummOh
What was that quote of Napoleon’s? We shall have to have a meat up?

Crickey rock climbing in your underpants is Err cool (well cold) : ) well done and a neat video
It’s that adrenaline keeping us warm!
Awesome! My mouth was watering watching this. It laughs in the face of those who think putting boiling water on to a packet of dehydrated something constitutes a bikepacking meal. It does mean carrying more stuff, but if like me, you’re mostly on your own, it fills the time between stopping for the day and bed-time. Respect!
Yes, I totally agree that the extra payload is worth it for the evening's entertainment. Thanks for your comment.
Led this for the first time last week, a little greasy, and found it quite hard.
Yes, I remember finding pretty hard the first time I led it too.
So sweet to see them all huddled together ❤
Yes, so lucky to be there and experience it.

Glad you loved it.
Oooh dad….it felt a bit spooky……
Yes, it can feel a bit like that in the half light of dawn.
Love trangia cooking. Great video
Thank you so much 🙂glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for showing this. Your video showed Yann's method in a very simple and clear manner. I just recently watched the Yann Camus video for the 2nd time. His interjection for the simpler method, is good, although it kinda wasn't the same as it being shown on real rock. But all the principles were there. I've done TRS on a pre-rigged line, but never LRS so I wanted to start with the stick clipping method. I do some route developing and route maintenence with my husband, (got the ascending, descending, gear management stuff down) but I wanted to be able to be a bit more independent and not have to rely on him to set the ropes up, especially for the easier routes we need to do some route checks on. (All the bolts and anchors are bomber, it's mostly to check for any loose rocks) Thanks again! Keep climbing and enjoy the process!
Thanks for your comments. It was good to try this out on an easy route to be able to concentrate on the process and simplify the filming. I think the bolts on Yann’s route were a lot further apart hence the use of his much longer clip-stick and of course he was standing in slings not on ledges Clip-stick rope soloing, a whole new world of adventure.
Give Pa a stick with something on the end and he’s happy 😊 Lovely relaxing vidéo dad, loved the sound of the waves with your talking. What a spot!
