it's got some awesome visuals and themes, especially if you're already invested in Sleep Token! i'd recommend it, though release shipping has been a bit of a nightmare so maybe wait until later in the year to order a copy, lol 💜

AAH THANK YOU! i'm going to try to be normal and not infodump too hard but basically Sleep Token is a band. they had an absolutely meteoric rise to fame in the summer of 2023 when they released their latest album Take Me Back To Eden and the song The Summoning went viral on tiktok. they had a pretty intensely dedicated cult following before that though - they've been releasing music since 2016 and so far they have 2 EPs and 3 studio albums (with more on the horizon) and all of it is AMAZING. they don't claim any genre but they're most commonly associated with metal and alt. the thing about Sleep Token is that they are HIGHLY cryptic and secretive. the members are anonymous and it's actually a taboo to discuss their real identities (especially since they were doxxed last year 💀) but many people gravitate to them because of their mystery, stage dynamic, and their masks. Vessel, the frontman, has never spoken. the only member to ever do a face-to-face interview is ii, the drummer, who has done content on Drumeo but retains his secrecy through a voice changer. there is lore within the music, but the whole point is to apply your own meaning to it and make your own story and lore. the only "confirmed" lore is that Sleep Token are a cult, Vessel is their leader and they worship an ancient deity named Sleep (of which their songs are "Tokens" or worship, hehe.) there are some widely-accepted fan theories, but nothing is concrete - the magic of it is that everyones' interpretations hold equal value. aaand finally we come to the official graphic novel which released last month and is technically the first piece of solid lore content we have ever gotten, outside of the music videos. the comic is just as cryptic as the band and open to interpretation, but the visuals are awesome and harken to Lovecraftian horror with a splash of Annihilation and Doom. SORRY I KNOW THAT'S A LOT but i'm only scratching the surface. let me know what you think if you do decide to check them out!
