Lowrance Elite-5 HDI Review - What's The Buzz?
www.fishfindersource.com/shop-fish-finders-by-brand/lowrance-fish-finders/elite-5-hdi-fish-finder-chartplotter-5-color-display/
The Elite-5 HDI by Lowrance is the successor to the massively popular Elite-5 series. The HDI stands for hybrid dual imaging, which is a combination of broadband sonar and DownScan sonar into one neat package.
Sporting a 5 inch screen, the Elite-5 HDI has pretty decent screen real estate, letting you comfortably see sonar images, even in split screen mode. You can split the screen into a maximum of 3 sections, one for gps, one for broadband sonar, and one for downscan sonar.
It's also possible to overlay downscan sonar onto the broadband, so you can see structure an...

Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 2 Review - Is it worth it?
Просмотров 128 тыс.11 лет назад
www.FishFinderSource.com/shop-fish-finders-by-brand/lowrance-fish-finders/hds-7-gen2-fish-finder-chartplotter-w-insight-usa-maps/ The Lowrance HDS-7 comes with Insight USA Maps pre-loaded and has options for no transducer(if you have your own), a 50/200 transducer for saltwater fishing, or a 83/200 transducer for freshwater fishing. You can also choose to get the additional LSS-2 StructureScan ...
Привет друг. Скажи на современном рынке hds7 gen2 всё еще актуален? Чтоит купить бывший в употреблении, или лучше купить не дорогой но современный прибор?
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Almost 10 years later and this is still a fantastic review
Does this one have chirp ? What is chirp and why is everyone saying if your going to get a elite 5 to get the chirp version ?
Hi! Could it drive an autopilot? You set arrival point and Lowrence HDS7 gen2 drives the autopilot to the destination? If yes, does it works with all autopilots? Regards
I can’t get rid of all the trails,I got rid of most of them but for some reason there are still a few on screen
Good video, thanks! I just wonder is it really GPS on the 5xHDI? I resently bought a used one and can not find any gps?
Did you manage to find it?? Iv just purchased one myself and I’m finding it difficult! Thanks
i tought this was a gen 1? i have a hds 7 gen 2 and it doesnt look like that. maybe because it is a touch?
which transducer comes stock with it?
I can tweak the settings On my one I think there are a few models out there maybe 4 you can’t
*My bro... was surprise with it's clarity>>>**allabout.wiki/4m7o** and how user friendly it is. This is the first one that he will take it off the boat when not in use. Price was reasonable, too.*
*Good images for the money on downscan>>>**allabout.wiki/h960** Reason for giving 4 rating is because older version of elite 7, which was replaced by Hook 2 , does not have feature that I preferred, such as steering arrow*
Screen says 30ft on each side...this wank says it's 250ft each side...
Yeah it will scan out to 250' but it's on only 30' out in this vid
I am guessing you haven't used it
Great Instructional Video! I have the hds7 gen2 touch and would love to have structure scan. Is it worth purchasing the module or just purchase the gen3? If I were to purchase the gen3 and installed the gen2 on thew bow could I connect it and have structure scan on both? Thanks
You made no mention about Mapping/charts/AIS/Nema???
Biggest complaint is the lack of instructional video's or clear instructions
Bought a 2 year old boat that has this fish finder.... the DI is HORRIBLE!!!! The rest is OK though. Fishing saltwater 10-30 ft deep, no reason the DI should just show fuzz everywhere.... no bottom contours or anything. When I choose the Down Imaging overlay, I can even see the bottom anymore.
RayMarine has horrible customer service. I had one RayMarine product on my boat. Lasted one year and failed.Still under warranty they wanted me to pay for a new one. Got to be kidding me
I`ve Had three Dragonfly 6`s, two let me down within 2 /3 months third replacement lasted 14 months before problems started, when I got in touch with Raymarine about warranty repairs I was informed by them that the extended warranty when you register your set doesn`t apply to Dragonfly sets, even tho I have a printout saying I have a three year warranty they say its void. The dragonfly is a sealed unit and cannot be repaired, the only way out is to buy a new one, Fkn robbery anyone thinking of buying one , DONT,could be an expensive mistake
We have a dragonfly 4 pro and the pins in the multi plug corroded and broke off. It is a sealed unit but you can get it open, which we did and rewired it with a new plug, not for the faint hearted but we are proficient in electronics. I have used it in Norway, sea fishing and it is handy but cannot say I've ever seen fish with it. I thought the warranty is 2 years and extendable to 3 if you register it online, If I had known it wasn't up to expectations wouldn't have bought it and would have preferred a Lowrance for a few dollars more. All the reviews and videos I've seen on YT are when they are fishing in 10 ft of water, I fish at between 30 and 100 meters. My opinion is they are disappointing to say the least but are cheap and you only get what you pay for.
thats crap
Please can you tell me how to open a dragonfly 7. Have same problem multi plug corroded and broken.
I think this was good for what I needed to see. I am still comparing price points vs. other models. Garmin (and others) like to sell their products incomplete (no maps etc)...not much into slippery sales, if I purchased a GPS/Fish Finder and got to the Lake only to find NO maps...heh heh, Customer Service would not like to take my call, that's certain ... Thanks Shabbir...
I`ve had three of the dragonfly 6 sets the first one had a fault from day one, replaced, the second one the power/transducer cable was so tight in socket I could hardly pull it out, replaced, third set worked well for 14 months now this set has started to lose bottom, so not a good record til now could do with 2 card slots, on all three sets the cable dust cap wouldn`t fit, I don't think these machines are very well manufactured.
Thanks! Best description I've seen in a long time!
Great video and really useful information, keep the videos coming
I have one on my Mako 17 pro skiff. Very reliable and detailed. Fish actually LOOK like fish and not "blobs" that MAY be a fish or MAY be a beer can. If you take the time to understand the operation of it, it is well worth the money. I give it a 8 out of 10. Transducer is a bit touchy and must be tweaked to maintain readings at faster speeds.
Bunk Man
You do great reviews. I just wish you did a lot more of them!
Great video!
you have to pay $$ to upload your maps that you scanned while out fishing ?
I have had a $dv for a month and had about 5 fishing trips into the gulf water near Adelaide South Australia. I am impressed with its ease of use, great lighting in bright sunlight and excellent clartity when boating over sunken vessels, artificial reefs and associated schools of fish. I like the camera feature to record the underwater scenes - it seems alittle tedious to press the on/off button and then other buttons 6 times to get a single photo strored to a micro SD card but a useful tool. I do not have a model with conventional sonar and GPS fitted but the great price and easy installation made a pleasure to install and use. Well done Raymarine on the Chirp Downvision device at a great price.
Are the HDS 7 compatible with the HDS 7 GEN 2 ?
did not answer any questions about kayak use.
How do you share one map chip for all 3 hds gen 2 units?
Is it waterproof?
Nice video,,but try not to say " AHH" so much, it makes you sound un-confident, unprofessional...and annoying to the ear.
went to buy one on amazon till I read there reviews. I saw where people had to buy 3 units before they got one that worked. I have 2 different lowrance units on my boat now that have problems and just got on a friends boat and his units have the same problems on top of that there customer service or lack of it is a joke.
victor chakmakian Hi guys thx for the infos you did .i got.5 hdi geat mashine
I was wondering about the satellite radio feature that can be added. I heard that a person could down load weather maps via satellite radio . Can they be overlaid on the chart map on the plotter on the HD7 2gen
Thanks for the detailed review. One question: At 5:37 you say it is effectively 240 ft to the side of the boat. I thought this was the maximum. The screen shot you have is autozoomed to 30 feet to either side of the boat.
I said same think...this guy is a joke
How well does this elite 5 hdi read depths without losing the reading on screen. Such as 50-60 mph
Is it Worth it? Why don't you buy Yatch class equipment?
Shabbir, what's the difference between this and 4 hdi, apart from screen? Thanks.
This must have been some marketing class project. The guy has little idea about Chirp vs DI etc..... As far as school work go he gets a C. He has to work on his sales pitch.
Thanks Shabbir. What great information! I have been researching different units, and this has really convinced me to purchase the Elite-5 HDI. However, I just read about the CHIRP model. Do you have any comments about this new unit? Thanks, and keep up the great work!
Thanks !! .. really Helpfull !
Hi, I'd like your recommendation as to the best transducer to utilize with my Elite-5 HDI combo. I have the Lowrance Ice Bag Package, which includes the floating ice fishing transducer, but I'm not sure if this setup would give me the best resolution or even HDI. The the unit came with a HDI transducer for the boat, but my main focus with this unit is for ice fishing. Your thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated~!! Thanks, Mark
Very usefull step by step info. Good job, thanks!
Nice work.
TY Shabbir I have searched for answer videos and this one is dead on! Thank You so much! I will be using mine for lake diving and finding the dive sites faster more of my time in the water. Thanks again. The 4 thumbs down people must have other motives here because for a beginner to finders this video is excellent and answered my networking that I want to do ie: wifi with other devices...so all divers can log in and see what I see with out everyone hovering over the hds7.
Hi there, i am planning to buy a Lowrance Elite 5 as my Upgrade to my Elite 4, but what do you think is the best to work for both Salt water and Fresh water? The Lowrance Elite-5 HDI Combo with Basemap and 50/200-455/800KHz Transducer OR the Lowrance Elite-5 HDI Combo with Navionics Gold U.S. Charts and 83/200-455/800KHz Transducer? Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!
Do you know the capacity of the micro sd card slot?
