5:05 Elemental Sharpshooter is peak design. That is epic
Great Vid. Pamitha best girl change my mind.
I also have a weakness for the Bird-Woman.
You come in the door, instantly goddamn ATOMIZED by a wizard. Man I love this game
I literally burst out laughing the first time I did this.
Man I love this game made my fair Shari of custom maps too!
Loved this game
You can also make your own levels
I remember watching this game on Steam for a few years, and then at one point read that it had been indefinitely canceled. I don’t remember the full context, but yeah. And then not to long ago it fully released and it’s my second favorite game of the year, right behind Frostpunk 2.
I love this game :)
Nice writing and comedic timing, subscribed
We did it boys, we got the konosuba reference
I’ve been holding that one in for a while.
Also, minor spoiler, but its something that can be remarkably hard to understand. Rion is a Dog that can turn into a guy. _Not_ the other way around.
Rion is conceptually one of the most unique Druids I’ve ever seen. His backstory is DARK.
7:17 In fact, banks' only craft is resurrecting, and everything else she does is just a half-dozen vessels she has in her bag. 8:00 In the devlog, they state something to the effect that they put "Trauma Control" glyphs on breach to make it so nobody dies, but rather they get sent into a "Down but not out" Which is why banks still have to shoot allies and enemies when they're on the floor.
I really should give the developer commentary a listen. I live for worldbuilding details like this 👀
@CrispiestK Not the dev commentary, but it's like a very early video from when the game was in beta.
Okay I never thought of pushing the seer himself to land a fly-by bolt, kudos to you.
Also, slipways is a game I'd love to see you review
Yeah! It took me watching youtube to know it's possible too.
underrated youtuber
If one of your videos blows up, it's going to be this one. Great work!
Thank you, i was wondering what this game was. I'm now gonna buy it
Just glad to introduce more people to this game.
It speaks for itself that the only people you can kill are your own people (temporary) and the final boss (optionally). That, and the fact that the reward for Bonus Objectives is exclusive 'Confidence' which you can 'only' use to wear funky outfits. Banks outfits ESPECIALLY take confidence.
I really should of mentioned the confidence points, since that's honestly one of the funnier mechanics in the game. Banks just has a cowboy hat she's hiding somewhere for a special occasion.
Oh this was one of my favorite games of the last year. I really really loved Tactical breach wizards. Tom Francis just doesn't miss
Here's hoping for more games by the madlad and his team!
I dont think heat signature was that great tbh. It's story didn't do it for me
@@Shade400 That's kind of a bummer- I didn't enjoy the actual story of Heat Signature very much, but I really loved the game mechanically, especially after all the updates. There was so much deeply fun emergent gameplay. It felt like I was imsim hotline miami
@@zenoooooo the gameplay was pretty great but I'm the kind of girl who really needs it to be built around something
@@Shade400 entirely fair!
RUclips decided to recommend this video I have the game on steam wishlist, (genius me missed the black friday disscount) but I already was in the "I'm 100% playing this" But alas YT cooked, your videos are high level production and love your narration style, cant wait to see more reviews of yours
Here's hoping the winter sale gives you a good deal for this game!
swat the w stands for wizard
Thank you Jesus
XCOM but with wizards and a small bit of door breaching sounds like a bad idea on paper but DAMN this game gud
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh tac breach wizards!
Hell yeah dude!
For the time being, I skipped the spoiler section. I'm strongly considering this game, because I've grown to really like tactics gameplay. I've heard of it before, but by now, your recommendation in particular is holding significant weight. Heheh. I also forgot about Heat Signature, so thanks for the reminder. My friends and I are maintaining a strong Frosthaven obsession, and that might be my favorite tactical gameplay system so far. I suppose I could recommend Gloomhaven Digital, if you haven't got the space, opportunity or desire to play a tabletop game, especially one as big as Frosthaven; or Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion, if you don't mind a tabletop experience and want an easier entry point to the series. That's all a shot in the dark though. I'm not sure you're willing to commit to a co-op, tactical, campaign RPG, but as gamers do, I can't help but blather about what I like! For a more reasonable recommendation, have you heard of Copy Kitty? It's what I've been playing on my own for the past week, and I'm amazed how good it is. It's definitely gonna give you that instant gratification, and more. You wouldn't believe how hype the game gets either.
I’ve always been on the fence when trying tabletop games because I lack the real estate and I don’t have any game shops in my area for that sort of thing, but Gloomhaven Digital looks pretty cool so I might have to give that a try. Thanks! And as for Copy Kitty, let’s just say it’s already on the review list 👀
@@CrispiestK Yeah, I expected digital to be your choice. You're welcome. Oooh, that's very good to hear! I'll try to complete it before then, so I can watch the whole vid right away.
This is my gift to myself. See you all next year.
Cheers! May you enjoy the festivities.
Also, to fix the echo, record under a comforter, any big thick bedsheets. It's a trick I learned from an old Soundsmith Q&A. No clue on the effectiveness but the man specializes in sound design.
It's an older game, but it still checks out.
Your channel is criminally underrated man. As always, phenomenal video!!! I look forward to the day that your sub count exceeds 1,000
Just gotta keep grinding on. Thanks for the encouragement! Hope to see more of your stuff too 👀
I just realized that, since I played the demo for Iconoclasts, I've moved to a different city and changed homes 4 times. Wow... I admire how dedicated he was to that game, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. I actually ended up with a weird mixed verdict, but I still love Iconoclasts. I think about its story a lot, it's just that its gameplay perhaps bores me for the most part. Might be because I played Noitu Love 2 first, so I was expecting fights and combat to be much more exciting; or I got much better at games since then; or Konjak was holding back with the gameplay for the sake of the story, or most likely all of the above. Thanks for talking about the first game too. I should play it sometime. I mirror a lot of your thoughts, and my childhood, when it comes to let's players and a limited library of games was pretty similar too. Good times. So far, you've uploaded whenever I've just about forgotten about you, and it's always a pleasant surprise.
I kinda felt the same way going into Iconoclasts. I remember reading somewhere that Konjak's ideal game would be a metroidvania, but after Iconoclasts he said he didn't wanna do something so story heavy. It's a shame that one of the last projects I saw on his channel was an abandoned Metroidvania rogue-like called "Zaya" that approached Noitu Love 2 in terms of game speed. I just wonder what his next game will be... Also thanks for comin back and watching my stuff!
@@CrispiestK If he releases anything at all, I'll be happy. I was intrigued by Gorgon, but maybe that's because he used agent black's character design for the protag. That'd be awesome, now that we have the hindsight of Iconoclasts, right? Don't mention it. It's cause you're great!
By the way God Hand music still rocks and kicks man
Yeah! It gives me life, and power!
GodHand's ost is goated
I remember this game - I played it for 1 hour around 10 years ago and never bothered to play again. thanks for your content!
I'm honestly surprised that ANYONE played this game, given that even when Iconoclasts is mentioned no one really talks about Noitu Love. Thanks for stopping by!
nice review! I loved this game a lot too. about the game not being unfair, I mostly agree, but the last bossfight was just insane. I feel like the devs added the assists as a deliberate option. OFB levels are mostly unplayable without them for a mortal being. but I had a shit ton of fun playing it.
I got so fed up with the Spider Tank that whenever it was vulnerable I just sniped it with the z-11 instead of going up it's legs. That last fight took me an hour. But yeah it was still fun.
Lendel's just salty Ti'zo dunked on him during the Liberation Rite. I mean, understandably salty, but still. XD
I couldn't think of a place to make an Even Flow joke. But I thought about it, Josh.
Thank you for recommending this one Sir. You are doing gods honest work.
I will make a game like that ine day 😊
Hell yeah dude, I believe in you!
Wait wtf this shits quality and on the most underrated supergiant game.
I recently bought the game because I finally could afford it and no matter how many reviews I watched, nothing prepared me for the beautiful story of Pyre. I was crying during multiple parts of the story because I became way too invested in the characters. I was just pleasantly surprised every time a vocal track played and I just adore this game a lot.
Hi I’m the artist who drew the demon pride month pic at 21:45 I can’t believe my stuff is being acknowledged outside of tumblr 😂
HOLY SHIT, my friends and I have been referencing that piece for years. Thanks for making it! I apologize for not crediting you in the video 🙇♂️
Solid review. I've had conflicting feelings about Pyre, I think it's by far more interesting and artistically respectable compared to Hades, I love how much unique lore there is solely inside this game, no comic or movie. The dialogue isn't captivating enough for me and waiting for your favourite character to decide to come and talk, made me sort of gloss over most scenes. Watching someone that isn't as good in video games play this was honestly the most fun I've had, I'm not a sports guy, but cheering him on was great.
Solid Snake! MC Reader looolll
Another banger 😎
Great video can’t wait to see more 🙏
This was an amazing video! I’m not sure how I haven’t heard about this before it’s right up my alley.
Before Hades came out Pyre was the best game out of Supergiant and it never gets enough love. Probably because it's one of those games simply watching someone play it will never give you the full picture as playing it yourself because of the internal struggle over your decision making. Ever since it came out I've told people you have have to experience it to truly understand why it is so good. Also Darren Korb did some of his best work on this game. I love all his music but Pyre has some of the most diverse range.
Glad you enjoyed pyre! It’s your cozy game
23:48 20$ is a good price for the game. My broke ass buying it at 1.50$ lol
Not commenting usually, but the algorithm blessed me with your vid, so I'll "bless" back with a comment. Keep up the good work man, awesome video!

I love the thumbnail so much because a full english translation of the lyrics of Great Days can be loosely interpreted as related to some of the themes of Pyre's plot. What an underrated game, whenever people talk about what Supergiant's "Worst" game is like trying to find imperfections in an anthology of absolute consistent quality, I almost always hear Pyre and I'm always thrown a bit for a loop. I wonder if it's just because people didn't have the attention span for the visual novel aspects.
With most people I talked to about Pyre it was more the sports gameplay that turned people off from liking it. Pyre is an experimental idea and at the end of the day you like it or you don’t. Thanks for the thoughts.
But the sports gameplay was one of the coolest parts, then again action sports have always been my favorite genre, this is why I don't like racing games, but I love Burnout 3: Takedown. I don't love basketball games, but I love NBA Street. I would have loved Yoko Taro's "Gun Soccer" if that ever made it past the game design drafting phase.
supergiant has made my favourite games since bastion. Kid stands up. Shakes the sand from his eyes. Hammer calls to the kid, reminding him of a past life. Time to get to work.
Another based Bastion enjoyer ❤
