How to make a Hidden Tang Puukko Knife
In this video, I’m going to take you through the process of creating a traditional Puukko knife, a masterpiece of Finnish craftsmanship that has been used for centuries. The Puukko is a versatile, all-purpose utility knife with a unique design, prized for its sharpness, durability, and comfortable feel in hand. As a knife maker, I’ll walk you through every step of the process, from selecting the right materials to shaping the blade and crafting the handle. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced maker, this video will provide valuable insights and techniques that you can use to create your very own Puukko.

Excellent work. Beautiful knife
I’m glad you like it! I put a lot of work into the handle
Dope AF results, @kylesodaro5075, on both knife and sheath!
Great effort my friend. I'm glad I came across your video. As a colleague, greetings from Turkey. Kind regards.. 🤝
Thanks and welcome
very cool video man and the knife is awesome.
Good looking build, thats a black dragon forge broach, made by Master Smith Neels Van Den Berg
Thank you! I got the broach a while ago and use it all the time but I can never remember where I got it.
@kylesodaro5075 Most of the supply shops in the US carry them, I'm pretty sure I got mine from Pops.
Thats a good looking knife. Why you put a secondary bevel on a skandi grind while sharpening is just a bit odd.....have never seen that on a Puukko.
Thanks! I was trying to keep the damascus down the bevel, and I don't think i would have been able to properly sharpen the blade without taking off the coffee etch on a traditional puukko. I left the primary bevel untouched and added a secondary bevel in order to preserve the etch. I hope that makes sense.
Glad I found your channel! Really enjoyed watching your process! Great craftsmanship! I’ll subscribe!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for subscribing!
Gorgeous knife. I have made a couple of Puukkos myself, and never thought of inserting some truestone into the butt of the handle. GREAT idea. Looks amazing.
I appreciate it! I was pretty happy with how it turned out.
Awesome work bro! 🙏
Thanks man! I appreciate it
Very nice work
Thanks a lot
Gorgeous knife. Love the handle!
thanks! I always feel like I put too much time into handles. Im stoked that you like it.
I appreciate that you show all the process and not just what went well. Look forward to seeing more!
Thanks! That was the goal, to show all of the steps. I feel like I had to speed it up a lot to make it a reasonably short video. I think my next project will be a multi video build so I can explain the steps better.
I LOVE THIS! I need more of it!
nice work! Best of luck growing your channel!
Thank you, I am going to try to post more videos this year.
You did a great job. the knife is perfect.
Thanks! I am doing my best. Im glad you liked the video.
Great video on explaining every little detail. Please make more videos
Thank you! Will do! I have a video recorded that I haven't gotten around to editing yet. Hopefully I can post it before December.
What company made the belt grinder
@@dinoprice1440 this is the Alec steel 2x48
From one knife maker to another knife maker that knife is awesome 🔥
Thought you did a great job. Subscribed.
A very nice piece! Outstanding information to share that no matter how much you plan for a particular aesthetic or shape, when it comes down to the way it feels in your hand and being comfortable, it can be very different from what you plan. Show knives made for display can look however you want them to look, but knives like this, Bushcraft knives meant to be used, have to be comfortable. Keep up the good work!
Great video!
Please make more videos. Awesome
Awesome piece.
Awesome build! Just gave you a follow on insta too!
Glad I’m not the only OCD person when it comes to fit and finish. No tool can replace hand sanding….unfortunately 😂
Gorgeous build my man! 👊
Your content is good. Others are watching you. Be a good example. Please wear your PPE. Trash in your lungs is forever.
Nice job dude what kind of belt grinder do you have?
I have the Alec Steele 2x48 grinder. It’s a little guy, but gets the job done!👍🏽
Yeah, I have seen those. They look pretty sweet! Nice work on the knife look forward to seeing the next build!
Lovely knife, really like handle shape, top notch. Make same knife with Purple Heart wood, would be awesome.
Gorgeous knife!! I can’t wait to get re-started…inspiring!!!!
Thanks! I hope you get back to the shop, it’s like therapy for me
Hi and thank you for the video! For the next one, can you find a way to reduce the sound of the tools and UP your voice? Great job anyway!
Thanks for letting me know. I’m new to this video stuff, I’ll make sure my next video is better.👍🏽
Love the handle! Great video
I appreciate it! I don’t know how dudes out here make so many knife videos, it’s so much work. But I wanna keep making them
Love the profile of that knife brotha! I look forward to your next video 🔪❤️
Thanks! I’m working on the next one now. It just takes me longer than I thought, I’m not a great at making / editing videos yet.
That looks beautiful! Keep up the great work. Your video is really good, i am looking forward to seeing more videos of you. For me you could really give everything you do an extra video. I personally would watch videos of you making knives, sheaths, cleaning or rebuilding your shop etc. I also likeshop tour videos .
I think my next video will be a set of videos and go a little more in depth. Thanks for the input!
