I knew it, I fuckin knew it, I was thinking about it and I thought to myself, I bet that living in isolation, in that kind of religious extremist culture, and often homeschooling their kids, I bet there's significant levels of child abuse. I looked it up hoping to be wrong, and take no pleasure in being right.

Not to mention the Piousness, they think they are morally and spirtually superior to you and I. They look down upon you they pity you cause you are in the world. I dont care how you wanna live but dont act or think you are better than any other person. They are arrogant not humble its a fake humble for image sake. Image and the idea if Amish must be protected at all costs. Its commodified. The idol of money addiciton to work. It takes alot of money to be a full time Larper and cosplay. Dont vote. Never spilled blood for this Nation yet wants all her freedoms. Did not help build or shape our Republic. Entitled and think they can get away with what ever they want. Questionable business practices, No Osha standards, child labor, copy right and trade mark infringement. Will steal any idea and make it their own if it makes money. Sexual abuse. A man made religion. The positve is they have good food and never owned slaves.

They think they are perfect. 350k USA population roughly of Amish. I can find 350k American " English" or "Yankees" that never touched or abused a child. Smh Its 2 things the need for power in control in a oppressive legalistic society ( similar to Japans quirky sex fetishes) And the fact they are all related genetically. The same feelings you have for your wife or girlfriend is hard to differentiate between cousin or sister or brother.

I grew up in central New York with Mennonites, Amish, and other religious groups, in our communities. I learned then, that like all groups of people, they are not unlike the rest of society. There are good people, and bad, and those that are meek and courageous. I learned that evil people will wear whatever trappings available to them, if it gets them to their ultimate goal. And if these unrighteous people rise to positions of power and influence within a group, their misdeeds are usually hushed up through a variety of methods, so their slate appears clean. And usually escape any lasting punishment that changes their bad behavior. Their victims however are left with very little choices in how to repair the damage to their spirits, or heal their lives. It breaks my heart to know that this is still going on within our communities. No one should be abused. Especially not the children. I pray that your mission is successful. That those that are abused, neglected, and downtrodden are able to gain access to the truth, and know that good people are here to help victims break the silence. That these good people will help them on their journey to find hope, trust, and healing. My hope is that they live a full life of peace, love, and joy. May God bless you and your mission.

Wow. My ex husband's family is from Adams County, Ohio. We visited an Amish bakery and furniture store down there. At the bakery, a group of adults (there were children too) was talking in the back of the store, visible through a glass window. As soon as they noticed me they switched from English to Pennsylvania Dutch. At the furniture store, my ex asked a teenage boy behind the counter a question. He looked at his father (who nodded) before answering. I had no idea that these could be (possible) signs of abuse. These videos are a real eye opener.

Any community where there is an inequality between men and women runs the risk of abuse. I am so happy I never believed in a god since I was a little child. I found it like fairytales, made up stories. My mother tried, but luckily I am more like my father, man of science. I have heard too many abuse stories in religious environments that the whole religious thing is so bad. Religious groups had a bad reputation for excluding people if you do not behave a certain way or you disagree. That is with all religious groups, some worse than others, the stricter, the worse, like ultra orthodox jews in eg New York, jehovah witness, strict muslims etc etc, you can loose all your family and friends. They are not accepting different beliefs or way of live. You will be excluded and pushed to the side. Thats what I dislike about religion

Sworn to secrecy as a child. I am now elderly, and all the people involved have passed; it's long time I had a talk with a therapist ABOUT my childhood; a subject I refused to speak on for many decades. Everything was because they thought it was the RIGHT way; time does not change ANYTHING. The attitude has outlived too many generations out of the order. I was told everything was normal and common, that was the way everyone lived, but I wasn't long out of the home before I realized It was 180 degrees from normal. I was told to forget and forgive anything at all. They were INCENSED if you brought up anything they did that YOU disapproved of, as you have no right, as a possession, to speak, or to have an opinion. The total number of lies I was told and demanded to repeat. The things I was taught to feel about myself as a person. There is so much under that rug that is impossible to ignore. The fact that I was expected to swallow it and FOLLOW it is absolutely mind-bending.

I grew up Mormon, and it's the same thing: anything sexual is handled 'in house' by the old pervs, lack of basic information about sex/withholding 'dirty facts' for the sake of soul (or appearances), greater punishment for the victim who mentions it than for the 'priesthood holder' who can't maintain control of his own d*ck because the child was 'leading him on' or 'trying to trick him into sin'... We need to get Amish Chris Hansen on the case.
