Thank You, Alex Smith - from the 49er Faithful
As a 49er season ticket holder who has watched every snap of Smith's career, I, along with many other fellow 49er fans, are very grateful for the class, professionalism, heart, and competitive fire that this QB exemplified over the years. Different systems every year, two mediocre head coaches, bad offensive lines that got him sacked resulting in three shoulder surgeries, and every reason to point the finger at someone else, yet this QB never blamed anyone and kept marching on. Smith was set up to fail by his own organization from 2005-2010 after being pinned with unrealistic expectations to save the worst team in the NFL, but you will never hear Smith himself say that because he has too ...

The face of a bright future of a new era in the Capitol of California Without a doubt the most talented and skilled center in the NBA in terms of raw ability... a center with guard skills... but is he the best? Not yet? Maybe in a few years?

    i love alex smith. a great example of perseverance and meekness. an inspiration for me during my adolescence rooting for the 49ers, and even more so now after suffering a horrific compound fracture

    Smith finally had a decent system in 2011. 2015 though, the system was perfect for him. Yea keapernick can run off the read option, alex smith can carry the team though.

    So many great memories (and frustrations) watching this. 49ers always seemed to be on the cusp of something, but Smith and the rest of the team couldn't quite get there until Harbaugh came. On side note, can we all agree that those 49ers uniforms in Smith's early years were atrocious? To this day, it cursed the team when they started using them in the late 90s.

    If they never put in krapernick in 2011, theyd win a superbowl. The krap threw Morgan, the best niner receiver in 2011, in harms way. Krap was always selfish and had no character. Imagine if they had a competent receiver in the post season in 2011 in Morgan? Easy superbowl win

      You mean Crabtree?

    • @kevlark3184
      @kevlark3184 15 дней назад

      @surferguy1974 Nope. Morgan was the best receiver the niners had from 2011-2018. He got hurt during garbage time in 2011 against the Bucs cause Krap threw him at harms way for a garbage time td. In a score like 50ish-7, your number one priority as a qb is to make sure no one gets hurt. Krap was selfish and showed me his true colors that day. As for Crabtree, Williams was a better receiver that year. Keep him off special teams though.

    This video doesn't reflect how FRUSTRATED and angry we all were after 6 damn years of a QB who was a 1st round draft pick that produced nothing but fumbles and interceptions. The quote from this man was correct and anyone who questioning him and his accomplishments are absolutely delusional. He made this statement in 2011 and in less than 2 Years, Alex Smith is gone finally. Here's that quote: “ALEX SMITH IS NOT THE TYPE OF QUARTERBACK THAT IS GOING TO ELEVATE OTHER PLAYERS’ GAMES. IT’S GOING TO BE THAT OTHER PLAYERS HAVE TO ELEVATE HIS GAME. IF HE DOESN’T LIVE UP TO WHAT IS EXPECTED OF HIM, HE’S GOING TO GET BOOED HERE.” In Jerry Rice, I Trust. NFL analyst, NFL commentators and NFL fans can voice there opinions all they please but the proof is in the pudding. After defensive coordinators had enough film to analyze of Kap and study the things he was doing to hurt opposing defenses his success rate as a quarterback and the success rate of the entire 49ers offense took a sudden nose dive. Kap wasn't a good enough quarterback to make the proper adjustments necessary to continue to be successful. He couldn't read and breakdown opposing defenses, when he was forced to rely on his passing he was no longer the dangerous force he was in the first year and a half of his career. Would the 49ers have won that Super bowl had Smith been the starting quarterback is something we will never know but there are two things that are abundantly clear, Alex Smith should have never lost his starting quarterback job in the first place and after the smoke has cleared there's no denying that Alex Smith is by far the better. He's still the starting quarterback for the Chiefs, there the only undefeated team in the NFL and he's on pace for a career year, not to mention he's actually the leading candidate for MVP after the first quarter of the 2017 season while Kap isn't currently employed at all in the NFL. Kap doesn't possess the mechanics to be labeled starting quarterback material.

    Alex Smith has unbelievable mental toughness. I really enjoyed reading a lot of these posts here from the SF faithful. I'm still on cloud 9 multiple days after Alex Smith and the KC Chiefs whooped the Patriots 42-28 (9/7/2017) in Foxborough. Alex threw for 368 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INT, 28/35 for 80% completion percentage and QB rating of 147. He also had two completions > 75 yards and last year the Pats did not allow one. Thanks Alex!!!!

    Heartbreaking ending to that season... Smith didn't trust his receivers only Davis... Kaep was better at utilizing all of his receivers (for one and a half years) . 2012 playoffs we don't beat green bay with smith but could've beat Baltimore with his knowledge of reading defenses. Kaep did enough to win the starting job that year and Smith was once again dealt a bad hand. class act though handled it like a pro so for that he has my respect.

    It's been awhile now. But i' d take Alex Smith over kap any time even if map beat GB three times!!!. map was a three year wonder and where is he now???. Alex Smith still has a job with a good team. I would take a QB in a long haul over a one year wonder QB who also by the way had regressed badly in kap. That was a mistake Harbuagh made.

    as a diehard niner fan, wish him the best of luck in kc.... all these "what ifs" and "traded the wrong one" need to stop, cuz ya weren't saying that when we were shining.... both qbs were are great with the correct coaching and weapons... just gotta say what it is, we're not on top at the moment.... no excuses.... but we will be.... believe that!!!
