Auld Lang Syne...Fred Sokolow

I played it three different ways: • Carter style (I used my fingers like Maybelle Carter did, but most people would do this with a flatpick). • Fingerpicking (with alternating thumb/bass) • A jazz chord solo version You can buy the tab for all 3 versions here, for a mere five bucks! www.sokolowmusic.com/instructional/general

It's a Wonderful Life Fred
Nice work Fred.
viewing from Perth, Western Australia. Many thanks for all your videos Fred. You are a bloody legend!
The best Christmas ukulele book I've ever had!
AFTER 13 SECONDS I begin to talk about the book and play samples
Love it
Sounds real good, Fred. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful Fred, thanks for doing that. I'm glad his 'alter ego' is recognised on the plaque. He was a wonderful stylist.
🤮🤮🤮
😉
Rock on brother Fred. Thanks for sharing your passion. Elegant stylee ol friend. Good health n peace in this life
Wonderful!!! Play it again Fred!!
❤
Bravo!!!!!!!! Love it !!!!!
Nice
Man I have been looking for this for a few years…thanks🪕🪕🪕
Amazing! Is there anywhere to hear all the tunes in the book?
The publisher didn't go for a recording, too bad. I could record some of them for you as a private lesson though.
Beautiful! Thanks Fred. The Jazz version is awesome.
Very nice, Fred. Thanks for doing that.
I bought the book and it says there is an audio link by using a special code that’s in the book I can’t find it so all you really get that I see is the book the actual dobro playing the music is not there unless someone can tell me something different
I have a different Dobro book with an audio link (Fretboard Roadmaps for Dobro) but this book (The first 50 Songs...) does not have soundfiles unfortunately.
I love the dobro, and your demo is great.
Fuckinay.
Love Fred, but the lyrics haven't aged that well ;-p
Hey Fred, I have all your courses on all instruments from all publishers. How about one on mandolin next (I do have the Masters of Mandolin book)? Maybe bawdy blues, ragtime blues, western swing and jazz toons?
I have some cool zoom lessons on mandolin that include lots of paperwork. A series of blues courses and a single class on chord melody playing. Here's the blues one (you can also buy individual classes instead of the package of 5: www.sokolowmusic.com/fred-sokolow-store#!/BLUES-MANDOLIN-ZOOM-CLASSES-1-5/p/450831013/category=127118167 and here's the chord melody one: www.sokolowmusic.com/fred-sokolow-store#!/MANDOLIN-CHORD-SOLOS-A-ZOOM-CLASS/p/447177960/category=127118167
Nice! Know any Zeppelin? 😄
no but they did use a mandolin on Goin' to California
@@sokolowmus yes! that’s what I was thinking of
This is nice, I Cloud listen to this millions of times. I am a bassist and would like to do some sort of collaboration
yes somethin like that , but why ?
Because it's fun (for me anyway)
@@sokolowmus and you're definitely right master !!
I've got it !
Great Job my friend!!! 😃👍🏽
Well done sirs!
Very nice Fred. I like this type music. Did you also say you have the book info also for ukulele?
There's a ukulele book called JAZZING UP THE UKULELE:www.sokolowmusic.com/fred-sokolow-store#!/Jazzing-Up-the-Ukulele/p/450850598/category=127167254
Great music I love it
🙏 yes please 👍👍👍🙌
Great stuff! Does Fred teach this style? Please tell me where to look. Thanks.
I do have a book with transcriptions of guitar solos on Western Swing songs...might be helpful. It's 5 items down on the left side of this page: www.sokolowmusic.com/instructional/country
@@sokolowmus , Thanks Fred!
Happy New Year !!
Thank you Fred! Jazz version is my fav especially with that guitar.
Excellent! Love the lyrics! I had recorded a version and wanted to see who else had the idea. This is excellent!
Great!
Fred is a wonderful instrumentalist, musician and teacher! Thank you so much for your immense contribution to the music world Mr. Fred! I got your new book, and it's as wonderful as the ones in the past! God bless you! Greetings from a fan here in Brazil!!! 🔥🙂❤🇧🇷🎸
Just got the book , grate has words and cords if you want to play on guitar and sing to get the feel or run tru a looper and play over .👍
Just found your channel after recently finding Zac's - you're both very talented! This was a nice twist on a familiar tune.
Superb! A tune I sometimes put in at a gig! Never sounds this good though!👌great to see father and son playing together! Obviously we now know where you get your musical skills and banjo inspiration from! And you play excellent mandolin also! Banjo is better though 🤘🎶
I'd buy that arrangement.... I think (hope) there's a market for an Americana DVD or the equivalent...like the Color Porter/Gershwin/Carmichael/Berlin projects... Fats Waller/Louis Jordan set is another idea...
It's in a book with about a dozen tunes arranged that way...Jazzing It Up, for $16.95, available here www.sokolowmusic.com/instructional/jazz ...plus, I'm teaching a zoom class this Saturday on how to do jazz chord substitution like that.
@@sokolowmus Done! Can't find a tic anywhere, so we shall see...
I've never heard that tune before. Very cool , thanks for sharing
Please check out the seminal version by NC Old Time legend Tommy Jarrell. Easy to find on RUclips.
