Aberdonian Stuart Beedie hit one of the hardest shots known to man in a semi final victory for Dundee United over Aberdeen at Tynecastle, Edinburgh, in 1985.

£27,500 brought Paul Hegarty from Hamilton to Dundee United, as a centre forward. Jim McLean converted him into one of the best centre halves Scotland has produced, a player who still weighed in with goals, over 50 for United in the league alone, and many more assists.
