Like many I enjoy R/C. I'm enjoy speed running and testing some unconventional set ups. Recently I've been trying to find ways to share what I build so others can join in the fun. I can't wait to show you what I come up with next!
Big Block Losi Micro-B gains 13mph and throws a wheel in the process! 45 MPH!
So I have streamlined the build and printed a body for my Micro-B. As an homage to my very first R/C car I ended up designing and printing an abs body that was inspired by the Nikko Turbo Aero! I admit I giggled with delight like a little boy when I first pulled it off the printer. It was an exciting moment. Seeing it on the car as it blasts around has been great.
The build is getting faster but I definitely have a few things to get sorted before I can really get this thing going all out. I'll keep pushing. Enjoy!

32 MPH Losi "Big Block" 2030 Micro-B!! First to 30+?
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.2 месяца назад
So bought a Micro B last week and decided to see if I could get it into the 30-40mph range. Considering they are said to do 13mph stock, I'd say this is an improvement. I don't know if they actually do 13mph. I drove it across the basement floor twice and then started stipping the car down and planning they set up.... So far it's got a 2030 4500kv motor with a hobbywing 18a esc. It's doing pret...

As I finish reprinting the broken parts, I figured I'd share a botched run of my MF-01X that I built for the @poorboysrc 2024 speedrun challenge. It hit a fair speed of 89mph while the logs show it was about 30% shy of a full capacity pass. I'm glad I was able to find the gps and the battery that flew out. I'm hoping to catch a break in the weather as it gets put back together for a couple good...
Custom MF-01X hits 76mph(and a curb) - 1st official vid for Poor Boys RC 2024 Speed Run Challenge

This year's @poorboysrc #speedrunchallenge has been underway for some weeks now. Since I finally got this thing up to a decent speed to start with I figured I'd share. I've been hanging out on the sidelines cheering everyone else on. This year's chosen chassis is the Tamiya MF-01X. Of the 3 classes, I decided to go all out custom and build my car for the unlimited class. The competition in the ...

great video my friend you need you a really good speed run spot thank you for sharing
Where are you getting wheels/tires?
I am using X Ray M18 foams on the front and 1/12th pan car wheels on the back. I got them from amain I believe. I've had them in the spares bin for a while.
@craziestmonkey thanks man. I've had a hard time finding anything.
@@manchildrc you're welcome. I was glad I bought them for some testing last year. They work well here. I also saw that some people are developing some foams on stick style wheels that have 7mm hexes instead of the 9mm that the xray wheels have.
Whats wrong with that empty parking lot right next to you??
@206beastman not enough room for these speeds. Lots of bumps. A few storm drains. And it ends with curbs on all sides.
How do you get that pace out of a silver can!? Is it modified or is this just a big battery and esc and hope it doesn’t catch fire?
@thebandit1974 just a big battery and a little hope. The silver can class's only stipulations are that you use a basic silver can(no torque tune or the like) and push it as far as you can in any Tamiya chassis. Dave has the record at 62mph (I think that's his speed).
And SPARKS too.!! 👍 👍 👍
@alantaylor353 this was definitely one of my favorite things I've gotten on video!
😂 😂 😂 Mine doesn't do that.!! 👍 👍 👍
@alantaylor353 where there is a will there is a way! I got some sticky buggy clay tires for the back on this build. The Mamba X and 7700kv motor do the rest. I'll have to see if I can make this happen with other combos too...
Yooo that was wild 😂🔥
@@TheK20eg thanks! These smaller scale cars are fun to throw big motors in! Haha
This is the kind of insanity I can get behind. Great stuff.
Thanks! I finally broke a rear hub today so I'll try to get back out to hit 50mph soon. The insanity will continue!
very nice 👍🏻
@@wimsky thank you!
Great Job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I want one of these idk how to go about building it 😭
@@TheK20eg I'm working on an adapter kit to run foam tires. Aside from that it depends on how much you actually want to custom make. There are some food combinations out there that will fit easily and get you some good speed.
@@craziestmonkey dam i didnt even notice you responded sorry for the late response i love your car the body fits nice on it but yeah alot of options out there i just know building on this small platform you need custom parts like motormounts to fit bigger motors ect i definitely want a 50 mph maybe you can help me like i dont want to copy your exact build but i would like some help with a get me started build😂 also if i can get one built id definitely buy the adapter kit from you aswell i dont mind supporting another brother 🙏🏼
@@TheK20eg no worries. Everyone gets busy and YT isn't always the best with notifications. As for building one, I know there are some motor mounts for the mini brushless motor setups available. Those motor combos are pushing these to 30/40+ There are more and more mods coming out for these everyday. I even saw another company making direct fit foam wheel/tires. A lot of it is in "coming soon" status. I recommend checking out the micro b group on fb to stay up to date.
@@craziestmonkeycan u recommend me a motor mount for the 2430 can size motor that will fit the micro b?
@@TheK20eg Finally on a computer. It kept giving me an error responding on my phone. Anyhow, I don't know anyone else running the larger motors aside from kainrc. It looks like he just bolted a regular mount up through the bottom of the chassis. I ended up "carving" mine from some aluminum with my rotary tool. It was only supposed to fit a 2030 but I accidentally made it a little big. To my surprise that meant the 2430 would fit. I'm working on making everything more easily repeatable. A lot of my prototypes are just hand made or cut. I picked up a second chassis to try to make some mods that will do a lot of the same but work better with the stock layout.
Sweet!
Thanks!
Hmmm, Well done... Mine goes over 40 miles per hour. 4s lipo.. 1/24 X-Mods all parts aluminum...
@wimsky nice! I've upgraded since this video but have had trouble getting the power down.
@craziestmonkey You are on the right track. my car was extremely heavy. Dont push to hard..my car was also on fire 😅
@wimsky i got 45mph about 40min ago. I'll be uploading the vid later today. The extra weight definitely helps.
@craziestmonkey Please pay attention to the balance...
Love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I no what not to do 😂thanks

Well done! I gotta get on this one, been running the Mini B for a bit now.
@@cyclecats thank you! It's definitely been a fun car so far. I'm waiting on parts to go faster but have been making a turbo aero body for it in the meantime. This definitely makes me want to try the mini b as well now.
fun I think I'm going to buy a micro B for Christmas.. I would love to say it's for my kid but it ain't it's for me
@@NANDOFFDataRecovery do it! I was set to buy a few for me and the kids. My daughter said it was too small and didn't want one. I think both the kids want to be able to drive through and over things. I'm seeing lots of cool track set ups for these.
Thank you! Time to go faster!
Sweet!
Incredible looking car, hope you can send it one more time 🤞🤝
@@coygtrc Thank you! I'll definitely send it. At this rate it may end up happening after the competition though. It's still raining with more expected tomorrow.
I hope you get out there! I am trying 1 more run as well! Car is Awesome and I hope you make more videos in the new space.
@TeamJunkYardDog me too! Can't wait to see what these cars can really do on the hail mary runs! (And to watch those rockets in action!) I'll try to use the new space more. It's about time I used my photo need skills for something again.
Nice to see you, after reading about your build, watching a few vids! That is a really nice build, you got! Lots of hours gone into it, I really hope you manage to get another run in, get a proper shot a Brice's first spot, ha ha! Yeah, the builds, there isn't long between whacky goofy and proper genius design, and of course have a good bit of fun with it. 😉
@madsrcbuggy thank you. I appreciate that. It definitely takes(me) a lot of hours to get these ideas tested and working. I want that shot. I think I have the build for it. Just gotta get it out there! The madness and genius certainly seem to walk hand in hand don't they? Doc Brown is one of my heroes! Haha. The creation of all this has definitely been more fun than anything else. Nice meeting you. Can't wait to see your next builds too!
You have an incredible mind to think of these modifications. Keep up the nice work
@@JoevsRc I appreciate the compliment. Thank you. I will definitely try to continue getting the ideas out

@rc_michi it happens... i will rebuild! I will come back faster! I need to. You guys are FAST!
That was exciting to watch! I completely feel your pain, out in the dark, barely able to see the car so far away, all kinds of traffic and stuff going on, just need to get that run... Great speed, buddy! Too bad with the crash, I hope you manage to repair and make improvements, get back at it again soon.
@@madsrcbuggy thanks Mads! It's almost ready to go again. The new light on the car should help this time. I also turned the drag brake completely off as I think it was the cause this time around with a big motor and smaller tires. Here's to the next one!
NICE! I'm glad you came to play with us. Nice looking rig
@JoevsRc thanks! And me too. Been busy formulating and building. Hopefully these gears will hold up with the new motor that comes in today.

@@TeamJunkYardDog thank you. Me too. I'm glad it wasn't worse. I'll have it out again later this week.
Ha! Gravity? I know not that of which you speak. 😂 May I ask what paint you used? I was desperately looking for alternative bodies until I saw your rig. That industrial yellow is sweet.
I'm really late with this one. Sorry. It was just the Tamiya PS yellow iirc. Then some details to the engine. I let my son pick out the colors. I like it too.
Best. Slo mo. EVER. So its 3s, what turn and kv is it though? Want to get a similar spec hobbywing motor for my rig.
@benthreadgate5190 Yes, 3s. This was when we had a traxxas vxl set up in it. That set up is a 3500kv 550 can motor. We've been switching electronics around here. I think it's currently running the Vendetta combo in it right now(4000kv long can).
Wow, that is so damn pretty! Flies too! So happy to see it in a video.
@benthreadgate5190 thank you! My son has definitely enjoyed bashing this rig.
I have a standard rwd 1/10 drag car, i wonder if castle mamba max pro, 1406 7700kv motor(sensored), 6000mah 40C 3s lipo battery can push this car to around 2 seconds,it weighs about 2.8kg
@@peoplePC-dx2cu I think it could be possible to get under the 3 second mark. The really fast rwd guys are doing 1.4/1.5. It takes ecu and remote tuning to get the power to the ground and maintain traction.
@@craziestmonkey I do have castle link to program ESC to adjust the turbo timing or other stuff,i can make tire prep(for 1/7 4wd)as well,I quite agree with you
@@craziestmonkey I was wrong. The car only weighs 2160g
Also did you do any mods to it for it to be able to do all this
@jonmandelbaum5395 this exhibition was when I had an RC4WD 80t brushed motor and 1080 hobbywing brushed esc. I also locked the diffs with putty. For tires it's running proline trenchers meant for a Slash. The 2/3 wheels allowed me to fill each wheel with automotive wheel weights and 20mm hex extenders. Also, it's got bearings throughout. It now has a 1/8th scale 1900kv brushless motor...
That’s dope. How durable is it? I’d only ever want to go slow with mine if I get one. Btw I’m surprised nobody’s tried to make an APC body for it. Like say, a chibi Stryker or Centauro even, inb4 it’s not an APC. Like with a turret and RC tank laser tag setup. There’s a blog called RC Sci-fi wherein he apparently took a 6x6 straight axle crawler and gave it a sci-fi exploration vehicle body with a delightful amount of detail too which is neat but a modern or presumably futuristic APC would have all independent suspension so here we are.
Using an overpowered servo along with all the weight of the truck I was finally able to break the steering center linkage. (The one that connects both sides and is shaped like a triangle). If you look in the fb groups for the Tamiya 6x6 you might see some of the styles you're looking for. I remember some neat polystyrene bodies being shared there.
Nice! I wonder how much the pogo front shocks affect the overall performance of this model. Also, would you recommend alternative rubber tires for it?
It has handled well overall. It's also much heavier than a standard kit style build. That helps. I do find that the loose weights do seem to help as a hacked mass damper system.
Well I’m sold. However how durable/high maintenance are they and what other mods did u do to it
Love it. How durable are they out of the box?
@jonmandelbaum5395 I recently tested it while pulling my son in the wagon now that he's 100lbs. I broke something for the first time. It was the steering bracket that the servo connects to. The rig is heavy and we did some crawling with it after. It's got a stronger servo in there and just a servo horn with no servo saver. The rest has been really good. (Knock on wood)
What body is that? I don't recall you mentioning in the video. It is very cool!
Thank you. It's the Bolink Air body. It's currently being sold by SabulaTech on eBay. It is styled after the Oldsmobile Aerotech speedrun car from the early 90's. I run this body on 4 of my speedrun cars.
Respectable speed on 2S! 👍
Good video and test pulls. It needs a Honda body though. Do you know what gear ratio you were running here?
Funny you should say that... I have a Honda drag body on the printer that is supposed to finish in about an hour and a half. I have a few different Fwd builds now though so I'm not sure which one will get it yet. As for gearing I do not remember at all. I have switched motors in this build a few times already. It is now running 32p gears for pinion and spur. My current weak spot is my axles.
Parece la carrocería de un oldsmobile aerotech.
Great 👍🏻 I already have a Lightning mc Queen on an Outcast. Do you have to change much on the Vendetta or just adapt the body?
Cool! I have 3 of the McQueen bodies here. i can't wait to compare notes as I am building one up now. A for this Jackson Storm, the wheelbase is slightly longer than the McQueen but quite a bit short than the Vendetta. I put the whole drivetrain on a Vorteks chassis to make it work. Then I did a little custom work to make it fit. I've been meaning to do a more in depth video but found the diffs tight after the swap. I need to get the diffs worked out and really run the car. As built it will handle 4s.
Man, that sounds like a lot of work.@@craziestmonkey
@hansh9681 I suppose it kinda was. I wanted to make sure the body sit at the right height and I didn't drill holes through the body. I have the same goal for the McQueen.
Do the motor and esc fit good?
I am using a heavy custom belly pan on this build. This allows me to mount any esc or battery onto the pan. The motor fits fine in the stock location with the pan allowing me to mount and aim a fan right at the back of the motor.
Nice build bud
Thank you. It definitely needs some sorting out still.
