Very nice. I know a few years prior to this kit, Bandai put out their own GoLion kit. I don't know the size differences or any other differences. I'm holding out for Moderoid to do a Dairugger XV kit. I got a late start with Voltron as a kid and started watching the Vehicle Voltron series. I really liked the space fleet battles. Then when the show reset and went back to the Lion Voltron, I didn't care for it so much.
Thank you. I have built the Bandai version which is smaller and in my opinion not as good as the Moderoid one. I am also waiting for a Moderoid Dairugger XV. I can't believe they haven't done one yet. As a kid in Australia we got both Voltron series but I think I also preferred Vehicle Force Voltron.
Those custom decals really helped make this set turn out wonderfully.
Thanks 👍
Great as always!
Thank you 👍
This was very cool to watch. I'll have to catch up with your previous videos but I made this my priority. So you came to Japan! I'm interested in knowing more of your shopping exploits. I visited Tokyo last month and I haven't made it down there in over a year. I was able to part with my family and shop in Akihabara at Yodobashi Camera and Volks. I hadn't been to Akihabara since 2019.
Thanks 👍. My shopping exploits are pretty boring. Usually I head for a Yodobashi Camera as well (they still have the same theme song playing from when I lived in Japan years ago). I only buy small things like tools and decals so I can fit them in a suitcase 😀
Awesome work!
Thank you
one of my favorite figures and I have this one in my backlog!
I am sure you will have fun building this one. It looks great once built.
Wow. The masking at the 32 minute mark turned out rather well.
Thank you. I felt like this build was nothing but masking 😊 As I am sure you experience with your builds, sometimes it feels like you spend hours masking and only minutes airbrushing.
@@duckplayingchicken Yes, and in my case, depending on the color of the area I am masking, I might miss gaps due to me being colorblind. Lately I've just been slathering masking solution over the masking just to be thorough. Nuke it from orbit; it's the only way to be sure!
I tend to use masking solution the same way.
@@duckplayingchicken Hey! It was inevitable! Hasegawa will release a 1:72 Glaug kit in March!
Awesome. I will have to keep an eye out for that.
Dude you killed it on this set!
Thank you so much 😊
awesome!
Thank you 😊
How do you paint them,it would be great to see the process and what parts did you paint, any advice?
I agree it would be good for me to show the painting process, however I have tried filming in my spray booth and it is not great. Sorry. I hope to build a new spray booth in the future so I can film the painting process properly. I painted every piece in this kit which was a bit silly of me considering many of them are never seen. The best advice I can provide is if you have little experience with an airbrush, practice on a cheap kit and use thin coats. You will always get a better result using multiple thin coats rather than one heavy coat. The process I used for this kit (and most of my other builds) is: 1. All the SMS paints I use are pre-thinned lacquer based. I use them straight from the bottle (no further thinning required). I spray them using my Grex Tritium TG Airbrush at about 10psi. 2. For light colours I used SMS Surfacer White as the primer. For the darker parts I used SMS Surfacer Black. 3. I used SMS Clear Gloss prior to panel lining and decals. 4. Finally I used SMS Flat Clear to seal everything in.
I am new at this but I am going all in,either make it or brake it,and i am building this kit as my first, and i am going full led kit, water decals, panel lining and painting(basic not detailed)of course I'm going to practice everything first,I currently gather things to make a custom spray booth ,using a small toilet vent and other parts, thank you for your advices and great videos!
I have sets 2 and 3 coming next week and plan on following your lead on adding lights to them for my 1st ever attempt at lighting. great job, ive really enjoyed these videos
Thank you 😊 I am glad to hear you are going to build some of these kits. Best of luck with the lighting. I would love to hear how you go.
I always look forward to your next video man. so glad you're in the game!
Thank you. I always appreciate great feedback. It makes it very worthwhile 😊
awesome work as always!
Thank you so much 😊
What kind of paint and the painting machine did you use?
I used SMS paints which are lacquer based and I used a Grex Tritium airbrush
I bought this one for my 8 year son, and the decals got messed up, it would be nice to get a new set of decals
Sorry to hear the decals got messed up. Sorry I am not sure where you can get replacements.
Great work!
Thank you 😊
I've looked at these a long time ago and was very close to buying them. My big worry was that they were going to be too big. Based on what I see in this video they are indeed HUGE, so I wouldn't have had any actual use for them.
Glad to see the video potentially helped you save some money 😁
This is excellent and very inspiring. Also I love the fact that you can laugh at yourself :)
Thank you 😁
How did you get the foot onto the leg i cant get it to budge
I had the foot on the table then pushed the leg down on the joint. I had to use quite a bit of force. Just make sure you aren't getting any armour pieces in the way when connecting the foot.
Thank you so much
You are very welcome 😁
it looks nice but kinda want a (1/144 if there any)so display along with the rest of Super Robot War in same scale 🤣🤣
I've only ever seen the Layzner in 1/100, 1/72 or 1/48. I don't know if it comes in 1/144.
What a little cute one
That it is 😁
Thanks for posting. I always enjoy your builds.
Thank you. Most appreciated.
A small piece of adhesive sponge tape applied to each of the yellow pads on the clamp will help stop the bottle flying out. You can even put a hole in the end that takes the pointed lid, the same as you've done with the pad itself.
Great idea
I had no idea how to apply the stickers 😅 Thank you from the Canary islands! ❤
Thank you. I am glad you found the video helpful.
The fumes of ethanol are heavier than air and highly explosive/flammable. Just so everyone knows
Good point 👍
Is this snap tight? Or glue required?
Yes you could snap fit this kit together without glue.
Very cool. I would rather there be one larger ship than two smaller ships. At first I thought one could paint one as Reinhard's white Brunhild and one could be Siegfried's red Barbarossa. However I just checked the Gineipaedia website and the Barbarossa is cosmetically different from the Brunhild.
Thank you. A kit of the Barbarossa would be awesome. LOTGH has so many cool ship designs.
Amazing job, thanks a lot, I just got that set and it’s gonna be my first one. Lot of help here, thanks again mate!
Thank you. I am glad you found it helpful. Have fun building this great kit.
80 hours!!? Damn, looks great. Worth it for $63 on clearance? I think so 🤔
Thanks. Yes it is definitely worth it if you can get it at that price!
Nice, I’m going to grab it and probably be back to your page multiple times for reference. Yours came out great
Awesome. I hope you enjoy building it as much as I did 😁
Beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for this video. Immensely helpful.
Thank you. I am glad you found it useful.
It's so cool to see you build this! I've been curious about these new kits. Apparently there is a kit of the Hyperion too now.
Thanks. I will have to hunt down the Hyperion kit. As much as I like the Brunhild, I actually prefer the design of the Hyperion.
@@duckplayingchicken I've only seen that Mr. Hobby will have a color specifically for the Hyperion, just as they had released one for this Brunhild kit. I've yet to look up to see if the Hyperion kit is out yet. I actually have a modest stack of resin LOTGH garage kits by Alba. I've yet to paint any, but they are pretty incredible. They come with decals and some come with photoetch parts.
I am aware of the LOTGH resin kits (probably because of your channel) but I have not had the pleasure of building any of rhem. They sound great and I am sure being resin would be highly detailed.
Zentradi battle pod
That it is :)
1:00:30 What is the outer diameter of the black power pipe?
The original tubing has an outer diameter of about 2mm whereas what I ended up using was 1.5mm outer diameter.
Impressive effort! I really like the lighting ideas. You can make superglue more brittle by putting the item in the freezer for some hours. Some time ago I bought some built-but-unpainted Galleon tanks, and after a day in the freezer they fell apart cleanly, not even the guns pinned into the chassis posed a problem.
Thank you. That is great advice about super glue. I will have to give it a go next time.
If only I could paint. Good job.
Thank you. I have painted many models that looked rubbish. Everyone has to start from somewhere.
Great work!
Thank you :)
good stuff !!! (halfway there)
Thank you. Yes I am looking forward to doing the last 2 kits in the series.
where u get decals for that
I got them from Ali Express
where you purchase decals
I got them from Ali Express. All the rest of the colour markings were masked and painted.
Use guitar wire in a small "tune" for arials. I have also used stretched sprue many times. TOOOO fragile. Use it for cables on the vehicles..... But guitar string.. Yes. Have an old heavy clipper on hand. Dont use your expensive goghand clipper. Guitar string is a hard sucker to cut....
Thanks for that tip. I will have to try it out.
You have some amazing techniques. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product! I'm rooting for you.
Thank you so much. Comments like that make it worthwhile :)
To my eyes, the Wave version is more screen accurate than the Academy version.
I agree. I think the Wave version is a lot better representation of the ship from the original series.
Did you purchase the kits locally in Australia, or did you get them shipped from abroad?
I got these kits from Japan via eBay. A lot of the kits I build are rarely available in Australia unfortunately.
im very new to these types of models(i have made loads of human miniatures before like from warhammer), and im very intimidated by this one. Do you airbrush everything(i dont have one yet)? is there a type of glue that you kind of need for these types of models? how do you make things shiny? do you need to prime a base layer? im just very scared
why did you attach things and afterwards masking everything instead of leaving things seperated, then paint them, and then attach them?
Yes I predominantly use an airbrush for models. I find that this gives me the most consistent colour coverage. There is nothing stopping you from using a brush to paint models like this but that is something I am not confident doing. Styrene cement is the type of glue I use. This welds the plastic together ensuring a solid joint. Yes I prime all my models with a surface primer. This allows the colour paint to stick better to the surface. It may help to check out my video on the tools I use ruclips.net/video/DBiwqC8DMQU/видео.html
You can paint everything separately and then glue it together rather than masking. The thing to watch out for is that the glue doesn't ruin your paint. Depending on the quality of the model you may find some of the joins may have gaps if they are not glued. Remember we all start somewhere. If you can get your hands on a small cheap model to practice on can also help.
Great work, as always! What tweezers are you using?
Thank you. The tweezers I use are Tamiya. I find they are well made and work very well.
awesome work my man!
Thank you. Very much appreciated 😊
Buy some small ball bearings and put one in every paint bottle to shake and mix....just beware that when you pour them out that the ball doesn't sit in the nozzle and block the pour...it sometimes happens
I have used ball bearings before and found they work well. One thing to remember is to use marine grade stainless steel ball bearings so they don't rust or react to the paint.
@@duckplayingchicken Yeah...good info....I've tried BBs that you get for BB guns work ok but a little bit on the light side....I also heard folk using nuts (as in nut and bolt) too
These will look great when built. I made a couple of the 1/200th versions, but I haven't made the 1/170th ones yet - they are still in my stash. I have sets 29. 30, 31, and 32. Looking forward to seeing yours when it's completed!
I think these are some of my favourite kits I have built. Partly due to nostalgia but mainly because they packed so much into a small kit. I am sure you will enjoy building yours when you get around to them.
