What is Paralysis? What are the Types of Paralysis? How Does Someone Become Paralyzed?
What is Paralysis?
Paralysis is the inability-whether temporary or permanent-to move a part of the body. In almost all cases, paralysis is due to nerve damage, not to an injury to the affected region. For instance, an injury in the middle or lower regions of the spinal cord is likely to disrupt function below the injury, including the ability to move the feet or feel sensations, even though the actual structures are as healthy as ever.
So what happens to the body when it is paralyzed? That depends on the cause of the paralysis, but generally at least one of the following factors is in play:
The brain is unable to relay a signal to an area of the body due to injuries to the brain.
The brain is...

The result is some degree of paralysis in all four limbs-the legs and arms-depending on the location of the injury. For instance, a C5 C6 Quadriplegia/Tetraplegia would have (somewha...
Hypoxia: Definition, Causes, Symptoms and Treatment. (What is hypoxia and how dangerous is it?)
Просмотров 146 тыс.3 года назад
What is Hypoxia? The brain depends on the blood to provide it with a constant supply of oxygen. Thus disruptions to any part of the body that plays a role in blood or oxygen supply can lead to hypoxia. The four primary causes of hypoxia are: • No blood supply to the brain: This occurs when the blood vessels that supply the brain with blood are completely obstructed. • Low blood supply to the br...

Going to use these sources to help, as you said sometimes family & friends can't understand your situation. I nearly died Oct 2021 in ICU from the Delta. I barely survived and today suffer severe L/C I was not Diabetic before the infection, 3 months after discharge my home health nurses noted high blood sugar, I am full blown Diabetic Type 2 now. But I also suffer severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea and am on CPAP with Supplemental 02 attached. My Doctors have noted severe Hypoxia especially when I lay down, or sit back in my chair. Sometimes it seems positional. My 02 drops down into the low 80’s upper 70’s when I forget to put on my CPAP. I was wondering what Organs are likely affected by this low Oxygen Hypoxia. I was told by one of my Doctors that Ray Liota likely died from Hypoxia in his sleep. I was also told that they fly patients to Trauma Centers when their 02 is down that low. Does anybody have any comment or ideas? Alot of people who had the 19 are struggling with Hypoxia even 2 years after infection.

Could severe asthma in a child have caused hypoxia, which caused damage to the frontal lobe, resulting in ADHD symptoms? Now to get to the root cause: could wildfire smoke in the early 1980’s along with childhood vaccines have caused the combi of symptoms of asthma, allergies, eczema, dairy intolerance, gluten intolerance, & adhd symptoms? I couldn’t help but notice this phenomenon to be very common in a certain region of the county where there were unusual amounts of wildfires and certain childhood vaccines enforced then.

Thank you for this video. I would add that there can also be autonomic dysreflexia in these patients, where there is sweating, rhinorrhoea, bradycardia, severe paroxysms of hypertension and awful, pounding headaches, and this can precipitate seizures and death if not promptly treated quickly. It can be caused by blocked catheters, distension from a full bowel, stimulation of the skin from a pressure ulcer or vesicu-ureteric reflux, it can also be caused by a patient with tetraplegia giving birth.

I had injured my cervical spine - specifically herniated discs, C3-5. I am so very thankful that the actual spinal cord wasn't damaged, and I had no loss of anatomical functions other than temporary numbness to both arms. But man...... That was probably the second most painful injury I have sustained in my entire life. Every little movement, every little insignificant shifts in my body's center of gravity, and every forced breath felt like someone sledgehammering the back of my neck, head, back and my shoulders. It probably didn't help that this injury came paired with a delicious side dish of TBI. Fortunately, I have made a very good recovery since then, and I can function almost at a complete normal level. I still occasionally experience "locked" neck and stiff pain, but considering all the other things that could have happened to me, I'm infinitely grateful. However, I later suffered a stress injury to L4-6 which did worsen my general spinal health. After 2 years of treatments, LOTS of physical therapy sessions, and a rehab center visit, I am able to function again. I now try to keep myself as healthy and fit as possible through proper diet and exercises, and I feel better than I have ever before, albeit a few things that I have to be cautious with in regards to reinjuring my spine. The moral of the story? Take care of your body, folks. I don't wanna sound like that one old guy, but really, take care of your body even if you are young and fit. Whatever harms come to your body now will definitely show up not too far down the road. Stay healthy and stay upright, everyone!
