Stay away from the N series of Engines found on 35i BMW has much better options having B series engines. N54 or just N series were weak engines compared to the previous M generation. There are major flaws Some of which are: Bad design, constant crankshaft bearing issues, cylinder wear etc they are commonly found as performance engines because during the peak of popularity many owners were able to push them hard but they have technical limitations that prevent them from being a tuner's choice of an engine. With that being said, most that remain on the road won't last as long as the previous or the next generation, they will be relatively short-lived 15 year span (which is short in terms of the BMW generations of engines)

That torque curve is decieving lol don't be fooled kids. It only made 470tq for a couple hundred rpms at the beginning of the pull, and fell hard all the way to redline.
