Ke-mo SAAB-ee : Friend of Saabs
Hello, I'm Paul and this channel records my love of Saabs and my progress getting to know mine.
I've always loved cars but have never been mechanically minded. After a depressing time with a Saab 900i which blew up, I've now returned to the Saab stable with a classic 900 Turbo 16 S and I'm determined to learn how to care and maintain this fantastic car. Here I chart my ups and inevitable downs that come with owning a classic car.

Saaby's Garage – Saab 900 Turbo 16S
I've longed for Harry (from Harry's Garage) to record a video with a Saab 900 Turbo, but alas, to date, it's never happened. So, I thought, why not record one myself?
This is a tongue-in-cheek, one-off video, and I hope Harry doesn't mind me taking over some of his favourite roads. I apologise for my lack of knowledge and that I simply don't have the insights that Harry brings to his videos. I know I've made some errors here, but I hope you enjoy seeing this beautifully designed car whizz around the familiar twists and turns you normally see with Harry at the wheel.
If you're coming to the Classic Motor Show at the NEC on 8-10 November, come and say hi and tell me about all the mistakes I'...

Saabs, Volvos, and Polestars at Swedish Day 2024.

I took Morty to Swedish Day in Yeovil. It was a wonderful trip out in the sunshine along the beautiful UK roads (well, apart from the potholes), and I met so many nice people.

Saab 900 Turbo 16 S - Exciting news
Просмотров 9 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching the video. This is the first time I've tried to edit a video into more than simply me and my iPhone and also the first time I've braved stepping in front of the camera. I'm still learning how to create videos, but I hope to improve and create some new content with Morty through 2024. A massive thank you to Matt Searle for contacting me about photographing Morty for his new b...
Saab 900 Turbo 16S - Adding a manual switch for the radiator fan
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.Год назад
I noticed that Morty gets quite hot when stuck in traffic and takes a while for the radiator fan to kick in. Now, that's my opinion and many good folk in the Saab forums said that it's probably me and not the car as Saab 900's temperature gauge does often tip up close the the H. However, I wanted to see if I could put in a manual switch to turn the radiator fan on earlier. If you know a better ...
Saab 900 Turbo vs AI (Please read description)
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.Год назад
I was intrigued how the new raft of AI tools would view the mighty Saab 900. So, I wrote a very simple instruction to invideo.ai to create a 2 minute video about the history of the Saab 900 Turbo - and this is what it came up with. The AI engine at invideo wrote the script, picked the stock images, chose the background music, and created the voice-over in less than 5 minutes. Sure, the AI has m...
Help! My classic Saab 900 Turbo has a leak.
Просмотров 518Год назад
In my first video, I mentioned that I had a potential leak in my electric sunroof on my classic Saab 900 Turbo. After some testing with a hosepipe, it's definitely a leak somewhere. I've checked the drains and they're all clear. Where would you say my next place to look should be? The black rubber seal on the sunroof? The edging around the sunroof hole? Somewhere else? Also, if anyone has a goo...
Saab 900 Turbo 16 S - Electric window fault and fix
Просмотров 577Год назад
In the first week of owning my new Saab Turbo, the passenger electric window stopped working. It turned out to be a super simple fix which I thought I'd share in case in happened to you. I acknowledge this is pretty basic-level stuff and most of you who are watching will know more than me. But if it helps one person, then I'm happy.
Saab 900 Turbo 16 S - My Introduction

This is my first video on RUclips, so please be kind. Having just bought a classic Saab 900 Turbo 16 S a couple of weeks ago, I'm keen to learn and share my journey with you. This is a quick walk around of the car (Morty) and sharing some of the little problems which have cropped up so far. I really would welcome tips and knowledge from the great Saab community as I go along, so please leave yo...
I have an 85 8v turbo as my daily. Loved the video. Subtle and niche. Just like the car. Nicely done
Thank you. I’d love to see how different the 8v feels to the 16v.
The key ignition down by the gear selector which i was told by a Saab salesman.was to prevent theft as the only way they could be driven would be in reverse.
I heard that too. Thanks for watching the video. 🙌
Had 3 Saab's loved them all my 1st before i owned it belonged to my mum who bought it at about 15/16 months old . That was a 95 m reg 900Turbo se Convertible. I ended up with it about 4 years old after that followed a 55 plate 9-3 2.0Turbo vector convertible & my final been an 09 9-3 1.9CTDI Vector Sportwagon which i still have. If they were still in production id still buy them. To finally get them out of my system id love a Caddy BLS 2.0T or 2.8 V6.
Good impersonation of Harry’s garage! Love the cat. Enjoyed it anyway. I have a 9-3 LPT Convertible, had it nearly 7 years.
Yes, Dennis likes to get in on the act. 😼
well done..Harry should have done a SAAB vid by now
Thanks. Maybe this will nudge him into doing a real review. 👍
Such a lovely motor. Small detail..straighten that turbo text in the grill😉
I know! I didn’t notice until I’d filmed a lot. Well spotted! 😂
This is such a niche parody, but it's so fantastic
Thanks 👍
Interesting, shame there is a dig at the models that followed, but an interesting review of the T16v S. Harry will be there at the NEC, which might be that fly on the wall moment.
Thank you. Sorry about the dig. I’ve never actually owned a later model, so what do I know. 🤗
Paul, what a natural at presenting and a terrific overview of the iconic Saab 900! Morty looks amazing and did you proud in the video! One of the features of the 900 I love is the swoosh and click of the ventilation distribution dial - the hiss of the vacuum control is great! Keep the videos coming and hope to see you at another Saab gathering soon 👍🏼
You just reminded me that I filmed the vent noise. I must have lost it somewhere. Damn, what an omission as you’re dead right. Thanks for your comment. 👍
Brilliant, excellent attention to detail 😂
Glad you liked it! 🙌
I had one of the eight valve with the water injection kit fitted , in black . I really loved that car . I’d love another. Such a icon and very different
I’d love to try an 8V to feel the difference. 8v versus 16v could be a good future video.
Great work.
Thank you!
got the exact same car LHD :)
We’re the lucky ones. 🙌
Big Fan of Harry's Garage and the T16s. Brill video and sure Harry will see the funny side of all your had work. big thumbs up from me.
Thanks David. The driving was great fun, but the video editing not so much. 😆
Great review !
Thanks for watching. 🙌
My favourite cars of all time are the Rover SD1, the Saab 900 turbo and the Volvo 480 They all, still look amazing
I haven’t seen an SD1 for ages. I remember my local police had one when I was a child. Great car!
Are you bringing Morty to Saabs at goodwood?
Sadly not. 😥
Beautiful car too, of course ❤
This is hilarious, very well done this parody of Harry Metcalfe 😂😂👌👌 Even the 2 watches, super 😂
Well spotted! ⌚️⌚️ I borrowed my girlfriend’s Apple Watch especially. If only she could lend me all the supercars to line up behind me!?!
Oh man. I really need to get my 1990 t16 back on the road again
Yes. We need to see more back on the roads. 🚗💨
Brilliantly Done
Thanks. 🙌
Get good aftermarket head unit, amp and speakers and the stereo sound can be excellent. I see you are driving in Harry Medcalf’s well traveled roads. He owned a 900 back in the day.
Did he? I didn’t know that. Yeah, I need to invest in a good amp and speaker for sure. Maybe that could be my winter project.
@@kemosaabemore than one. He mentions them in some of his videos.
I own a 1991 version (US Special Performance Group) - also in black! 206,000 miles and still going strong.
And it’ll keep going for another 200k too! Awesome.
Thanks for putting this up! Another good Saab story.
Thanks for watching. 🙌
Super looking car! Had a lovely red T16 a couple of years back. Tore up a cylinder as a result of the original plastic APC solenoid no longer working and the substitute valve being set too high by a dubious Saab expert. Cost me a fortune! Experience has taught that there are very, very few mechanics who understand these cars.
I had a similar experience with my clutch. I’m trying to learn how to do things myself, but it’s not a skill that comes naturally to me. Thanks for watching.
Really enjoyed the video - and Matt's book is fantastic. I had a black T16S when we got married; it's always going to be a very special car for me.
Fuzzy fur needs redoing.. Door panels, Headliner.. sunroof at least is buggered.
Epic Saab Moment
Greetings from Germany. I'm a owner of a Saab 900 Turbo 16S. Black , Leather seats also in black. ❤
No need to do that really. Fans kick in at 102c on all B2x2 / B2x4 engines. The engine is at its most optimal at 100c, with typical running temps on the road of 89 / 91c with airflow. Paul @ The Saab Clinic UK (ex Saab master tech)
Re Steering noises. Thats "C900 Morning sickness". As it was called, they all do that sir....
Very nice. The B202's always rattle when sitting for a while. Takes 20mins or so for the tappets to fill up and bleed all the air out. The very first 1984/85 ones have a special Inlet cam that causes Swirl in the chamber. But it causes a very peaky power delivery. Customers complained about this and it was quickly removed for 1986/C plate cars. Paul @ The SAAB Clinic UK.
been working on my dads 900 for awhile now, funny how saab didnt bother putting the bonnet release thing on the drivers side on RHD model, its in the same place on the LHD
Swedish cars for me are SAAB 96, 99 or 99 turbo and Volvo 144 and 760 saloon
My dad had the same model & colour in the late 80’s.Lovely motor & the sound was amazing with the turbo.
Omg what was that godawful "music" at ca 8 minutes ?.-Even more irritating than Arthur Askey.
In the states we have Car-henge in Alliance Nebraska!
GREAT INFORMATION 😅😂 NOT
It's nice to see a Saab story on YT one of the best and safest car's in the world. My Brother was one of the best Saab mechanics in North California and we owned and sold a lot of them. Thank you very much for this blog.❤
Thanks so much. It’s wonderful to find so many people love their Saabs - past and present.
Great video and insight Paul - it covers everything very well! Agree, the A & B roads were great fun and perfect to give our rolling resto a shakedown 😎 Really good to meet you and Morty - he’s a beauty!! See you at the next one 👍🏼
Great to meet you and Paul too. I’m considering going up to Wings n’ Wheels in Winthorpe on the 25th May.
No Koenigsegg?
Sadly not. Shame.
📽🎞🎞🎞📽🏁👍
I..Gus, had the same one in1988 black but a 5doors intercooler, fantastic, the best car ever made. the sound it make. thea now i was coming😀
Wow, these cars are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing! I'm jealous. 😉

Steering issue is what 900 owners call "morning sickness", will continue to deteriorate. Steering rack rebuild.
