Alan Wake's Matthew Porretta Talks Remedy's Most Enduring Character: Sneak Peek #1

In this new sneak peek clip, Matthew Porretta discusses how he changed his approach to voicing "Mr Scratch" in Alan Wake's American Nightmare to "Scratch" in Alan Wake 2.
Jennifer Griffin’s thoughtful questions and warm, engaging style truly shine in this conversation with Matthew Porretta. Her passion for storytelling and gaming is evident, and it’s refreshing to see such genuine enthusiasm paired with professionalism. For her first foray into the video format, she handled it with remarkable grace and charm, successfully transitioning into a new medium while maintaining the thoughtful depth her work is known for. Kudos to Jennifer and the TVPulse Magazine team for creating such a fantastic piece of content-looking forward to more interviews like this in the future!
Jennifer here -- Thank you Hissane. This is possibly the loveliest compliment I've ever received about something I've produced. All the other compliments can go home!! I will spend all of next week struggling to somehow fit your very generous remarks into conversations with my family, the mailman, and random strangers on the street. (I would be remiss not to thank Matt Porretta for being such a great and fun interviewee and helping me set this up. As a longtime fan of Remedy Entertainment and Alan Wake it truly was a dream come true.)
@@TVPulseMag Jennifer, your reply truly made my day-it’s so humbling to know my comment resonated with you! Your interview with Matthew was such a joy to watch, and your passion for Remedy Entertainment and Alan Wake came through so beautifully. It’s clear how much heart and care you put into your work, and it absolutely shows. I was so inspired that I shared a post about your interview on my RUclips community page with my 1,000 subscribers. I know it’s a small audience compared to the incredible reach your work already has, but I genuinely wanted to highlight how much your content resonated with me and why it deserves even more recognition. I hope it brings more eyes to your fantastic work! Looking forward to seeing more interviews from you in the future-you have such a natural gift for it, and I’m sure many others feel the same!
@@Hissane thank you so so so much ❤
“I was doing this interview, yet i was wondering how did I get here? Was the Darkness playing tricks on me again??…or did Barry once again set me up unknowingly? I was going to find out, one way or another!”
Poor Alan!
Looking forward to working with Matthew on a future project. We need more of his talent in the world.
Please let us know if it happens! We'll give you both and the project a shoutout on our website.
he's so cute
PART SIX
My favorite line of his from AW2 is “my motorcycle is also a Werewolf!” 😂😂😂
Love that one. Also the "i'm just a poor frail writer" line. It's a pity we didn't get to interview him after the DLC came out. A lot of comedy gold in Night Springs!
If this is how Matthew Porretta looks, then why did they use the other guy as Alan Wake's model? This guy looks amazing and could have pulled off being the look of Alan Wake.
He already have an idea I think. He is a character in control. And now, just my theory, Alan is a fictional character made by him and Thomas Zane, so the voice of one and physically the other one
Bc he's already Dr. Darling
@@delphinchen0815 - He wasn't back in 2010, which was way before Remedy ever worked on Control.
@@BullworthGraduate oh. But they are crazy planning ahead. You never know 🤣 i played control after aw2 and could find references to aw2. So confusing 🫣
@@delphinchen0815 basically it was a habbit(?) from the old days when it was a norm for the face and voice of a character being two different people. After release of the first Alan Wake some other game made the voice actor also the face of the character when Remedy suddenly realised that they could have done that with Wake.
“It’s not a loop… It’s a spiral.”
He switched it on so seamless wow.
🤩🤩🤩
Have no reason to be fawning over this old man but here I am
Alan is my main in DBD 😅
And Mama gave me a magic clicker!
Well yes, I think it's true and fair to say.
@@TVPulseMag C’MOOON IN AND LISTEN
@@chumbucket3475 lost words you've been missing...
"Jesse is dynamite!"
Always a classic!
Er wird für alle der Robin Hood sein. Man hat ja gesehen, wie gut er in zwei Doppelrollen war. L.G.
"It's not a lake. It's an ocean." Is still iconic though.
Alan is my second Main and every time I get hung on a hook I burst into laughter picturing this man doing this 😂
WHY IS THAT SOOOOO PERFECT!!!!
He is my Robin Hood.

Sam Lake sounds like a really good boss, he seems like a genuinely good and enjoyable person to be around, I wish I could work for Remedy because of it. I would love to be part of that. Be around people like Porretta and Lake. Just sounds awesome.
Maybe one day!
Thanks for doing this interview, Porretta is really fun to watch when he gets talking
Isn't he? Great energy, humour, and insights. It was a real treat.

I hope you do more interviews. Absolutely loved this one!
Thank you so much. I would like to do more in this format too.
“This story is a monster” was one of the most mindblowing things I’ve heard in fiction tbh
A fantastic promo for Alan Wake 2 for sure.
Amazing interview. The interviewer was so kind.
❤❤❤
I can't help but imagine Dr Darling giving an interview 😂😂❤️
It would be unbearably adorable. How would we all get through it in one piece?
БОМБА !!!
Very good
So nice of you to say so.
Matthew narrated those line effortlessly, there is a degree of genuineness in that tone and it really feels like he is talking about himself (Alan) to himself (Alan)
Thanks so much for watching!
