North End fan in peace - you battered us, well done. Bit of a shower on our part tho and one of our worst results ever. Best result in Whitley Bay's history and deserved it - well played.
Is this from a Monty Python thing?
R.I.P BOBBY BALL

Remember traveling down.there was a car full of us. Thought we might get some tickets around the ground. Not a chance. Police had set up barriers and were checking tickets Could not get near ground
AAAAAHHHHHHH LOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!! RIP, Bobby Ball.
A time before Football went to the shits, before the Premier League, When Non-League grounds were proper. in football, Whitley Bay were not that far from Preston North End Northern Premier League, THEN the GM Vauxhall Conference, then the Football League, Division Four and then Division Three. four levels separated them.
rip
r.i.p. bobby ball you will be making them all laugh up there.
RIP Bobby Ball 😥
The Abbot and Costello of British comedy , just not as famous ,but like American act using the same jokes after 20 years together bless them, truly brilliant in 80s except when singing acts came on.

Im from whitley bay very proud
Remember this well despite only being 11 years old. I assume that's Kevin Todd (scored at Rotherham for NUFC when Keegan got 4 in 1982?). Ex Newcastle player (with Gazza) and future Gateshead manager Ian Bogie there for Preston. We jumped on the bandwagon the following season and got tickets for the 2nd round tie at home to Barrow. If i remember correctly the initial tie was called off and it was a night time game that Barrow won 1-0. They brought a fair few up that night and packed the end behind the goal, like PNE did here.
I met bobby and he asked me how old I was and I said (my age) and then he said ''your pigging taller than me!'' and I was only young!
some people dont understand this humour i guess. i think its great coz it was funny wen i was a kid and its great to see them playing out the same joke that STILL makes me laugh. its not old men acting like kids.. its two comic legends acting out a classic sketch ffs!!
saw them do this in our local panto just a few years ago, was crying with laughter !
Remember this game really well. I was behind the goal to the right. What an amazing win for the Bay.
Ahhhhhhhhhh loooooookkkkk att it
I am in this video. 4.02 walking in front of Bobby Graham. Met Tom Finney that day as well. A time when I really loved football.
What a depressing life
@sambomcl I know you have
I've had funnier embolisms.
I'm from Finland and those days I was every saturday listening Sportsworld from the BBC World Service and I recorded some moments to my radio cassette and this Whitley Bay victory was one of them. I have listened that cassette for hundreds of time and now I finally saw those legendary goals. :DD
making me cry laughing!!! bobby ball is so funny
@DAJAZDJ1 I do read what you write. Do you?! It's been 10 years since you went, ergo, your "knowledge" on the subject is a long time out of date
@DAJAZDJ1 How is it impossible for a team lower than Unibond to get high gates? We had just over 2,700 for the Vase semi in April. We'll never get 700 or 800 without a good FA Cup run though.
@DAJAZDJ1 3 players more than you would have us believe. I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them. Novak has less starts, true, but that isn't the point.
@DAJAZDJ1 What would you know about typical non-league players? A lot of them are very young and on rare occassions, they move on to the professional game. Lee Novak - ex Gateshead, now at Huddersfield. Charlie Austin - ex Poole Town, now at Swindon. Steve Finnan - ex Welling.....and he played for....some team in red? I can't remember who...
@DAJAZDJ1 I don't care that some Conference teams get less than 400. And why are Conference teams garbage? I thought you didn't watch them. Do you now accept that Whitley get over 400? Took you a few days for it to sink in. Your friend couldn't stop laughing? Well, point proved then!
@DAJAZDJ1 Teams at Whitleys level don't enter the trophy. You should know that, oops, forgot, it's not on Sky therefore it doesn't count. I've never seen a top-flight ladies match so can't comment. Much like, you don't know a lot about non league football, and shouldn't comment.
@DAJAZDJ1 Whitley Bay are a real team. Just because they aren't in the Premiership doesn't mean a thing.
@DAJAZDJ1 Whitley are away to Thackley in the Vase on Saturday, rather than at home to Witton Albion, who aren't even in Whitleys league. Alfreton and Marine aren't in the same league either. Just stick to your Premier League football. I'll stick to my 400+ crowd at Whitley, and the odd trip to Wembley.
@DAJAZDJ1 Whitley have indeed been relegated, years ago now. All of your comments come from what you used to know, not what is happening now. Correct, there were not 400 people back in those days, but if you look at our attendances now, you will see crowds of over 300, 400, 500 and 600 (once) this season. What is a "park player" - You're a typical Premier League follower. No idea of what goes on outside the 20 teams in the top flight.
@DAJAZDJ1 I don't really care what your uncle got paid, or what the Whitley players get paid. It's a moot point. I thought you said the Bay players probably got nothing anyway?
@DAJAZDJ1 Anoraks and geeks in glasses? How would you know, seeing as you don't go? You have a very strange view of non-league football. Wembley wasn't empty when the Bay played there. It wasn't *full* either, but what are you expecting for the Vase final?
@DAJAZDJ1 I don't think I suggested that Whitley Bay would lose to Liverpool, if the teams ever met. I think you've missed my point(s)
@DAJAZDJ1 You support Liverpool? Dear me. Havant & Waterlooville gave you a scare a few years back, eh? I fail to see how Whitley Bay are shite, and totally pointless though. Some would argue that, as a Liverpool fan, you do support a shite and pointless team. Not me though, of course.
@DAJAZDJ1 No Prem team has been beaten by non league clubs since the formation of the Premier League, no, but top flight teams have been defeated by non league sides in the past, for example Sutton United did beat Coventry, and are the last non league side to put out a top flight side. But since you only think football started at the formation of the Premier League I'll let you have that one, eh?
@DAJAZDJ1 You watched this for 10 years, yet you know very little about it now. For a start, Whitley aren't in the Unibond, or the Conference, and I'd like you to consider these results, from recent years - Manchester United 0 Exter City (then in the Conference) 0, Burton Albion (also in the Conference at the time) 0 Manchester United 0. Man U went on to win both replays, but not 10-0.
@DAJAZDJ1 Amatuer players don't get paid, as far as I know. Semi-pro's do.
@DAJAZDJ1 I watch them because they are my local side. I don't see what is so great about the Premier League anymore, or the Championship. I do go to the park on a Sunday morning, to watch "pissheads" play, but the level Whitley play at, isn't Sunday league. The lads at Whitley do get paid for playing, but I don't know how much, and neither do you.
@DAJAZDJ1 I assume you looked up our attendances, and have piped down about us getting 400 to 500 people. Of course Wembley is virtually empty for FA Vase finals, what is your point?
@DAJAZDJ1 They do. Look it up. I'll admit over 500 is rarer, and we hit over 600 once this season, but 400 is more or less what you'd get there these days. Attendances have very little to do with it anyway, this "village football shite" team have managed back to back wins at the new Wembley stadium, not bad eh? ;)
@DAJAZDJ1 Less capitals. Why does 150 or less people make it "village football shite" in your eyes? Come back these days and there are 400 to 500 people there.
@DAJAZDJ1 village football shite?
sheeshk………...7 years on, have you managed to calm down? Not clear who you were ranting at!!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha!
good vid,but needs to be the full version!
This is epic, ahhh look at it!!
