What a pity this is just a phone recording, picture and sound quality is bad. It doesn't do the artist justice.
“DEAR GOD JESUS CHRIST WHY IS THAT SONG SO F*CKIN’ HIGH?!!!! WHAT?!”
Anderson John Walker Joseph Moore Betty
The actress for Mary’s mother is so good! even when it’s not her song she’s so distraught during that what he said
OOh - I've always wanted to hear this. I helped out as an assistant to the producer, my friend Robert Sher, when they were recording the orchestra in Seattle several years ago. I doubt my name made it to the liner notes. But if you happen to see the name "Mark Finley" - that's me. But I doubt it. Interesting show to say the least.
Oh my gosh! MARK FINLEY YOU ARE IN THE LINER NOTES! I would love to talk to you about this show, I have so many questions. The music is so gorgeous! If you ever want to find me I’m on IG @sheppardnik.
One thing I am confused about is where they got some of the photographs for this, especially for characters that don't exist. The musical is based on a true story but not all of the characters are real people. Frankie, for example, is an amalgamation of George and Vera Epps. They were siblings around Mary's age. George testified in court that he'd seen Mary on the trolley and Vera was reported in a newspaper as swearing vengeance on whoever killed Mary. The two were combined to create Frankie Epps for the musical, but the picture that they show onscreen isn't George. It's the same with Mary's coworkers- Iola, Essie, and Monteen weren't real people. They take the place of Grace Hicks's testimony in the real trial, but there are still pictures for them on the screen. I wonder who those people actually were and why the musical didn't use the screen to show the reality that they were inspired by.
I think the picture was of George Washington Epps, Jr, who they used to represent Frankie because it would’ve been confusing to show Vera Epps when the character on stage was a boy. And the three girls shown on the screen during the factory girls song were probably just some of Mary Phagan’s coworkers at the time. They might not have even been questioned/testified. It probably just makes it less confusing for the audience if the people on screen line up with who is on stage if that makes sense
This show is my lifeline
How can a dude sing higher than me 😭
Do you have the full show?
13:27 I love him
The very beginning of this will ALWAYS give me chills. On that first swell, all of the lights blaring, it has stuck with me ever since I saw the show.
Went and saw this last summer with my Dad and this is pretty much the best production I’ve ever seen (I’m seeing Cabaret next week so I don’t know how much longer it will keep that award). I actually met Alfred Uhry, the writer of the show at an after show Q&A that me and my Dad were invited to. It was probably my favorite moment of 2023 even though seeing Oppenheimer on the big screen came extremely close. I’m planning on seeing it again in Minneapolis next year. I also met Alex Joseph Grayson before the show and it was great talking to him. My Dad was a bit hesitant to see this especially after the performance at the Tony Awards because of Ben Platt, but even he was blown away with the show after it was over. I would immediately in a heartbeat see this again and I’m glad this Slime Tutorial means that I can watch this for free. Although seeing it live is much better in my opinion.
What happened? Was there a technical problem or something?
guys... I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Jeremey was right. It was a half-step lower... (still insanely impressive)
yessss I thought I was the only one that noticed!!
Still a D 😮
Yeah it is a half-step lower. Idina Menzel’s big money note that she’s always asked to sing whether it’s in Wicked, Frozen, and Frozen II is normally an Eb5 and the note Jeremy Jordan sang here was a D5, so it’s a half step lower. Still a very impressive and difficult note for a tenor to sing in full voice.
@@observeranimationstudios1040his range is insane!
As a mezzo, could never hit a D5!
I can only strive to be a performer as amazing as he is! He is such an inspiration and role model! I can only hope to be as successful.
That’s about the highest I can go!! He’s insane!
HES LITERALLY THE BEST MALE BROADWAY SINGER AND POSSIBLY NOT JUST BROADWAY BUT EVERY STYLE. His range is insane… best current male singer.

I’m seeing him in Gatsby and this is only making me more excited IM GOING TO LEVITATE THROUGH THE ROOF OF THE THEATRE WHEN HE SINGS.
I saw him in gatsby at the papermill playhouse and let me tell you, you will NOT be disappointed. Him and Eva are so incredible and their singing will blow your mind.
@@Yg0032 this is not helping my excitement 😭😂 I got my tickets for this Aug for my 18th birthday. I hope the date I chose isn’t a day they will unexpectedly call out/end up having a break that week. It’s far enough out where you never know. But im preparing to have my mind BLOWN. Their voices together are heaven!!
He had me gagged omg it was almost like opera
@@Tvaccount13-89 Jesus Christ I’m ready like can the time come but im so not 😭😭

He’s not real. How is he real. 😭 What?!!
REDEMPTION
Ugh I love Jake pedersen so much🥹🥹
Watching this again after a few months. It was incredible and I'll neve forget it. Thank you to all of the cast and especially the brilliant Ben Platt.
i didn't even know a slime tut for this existed but i'm so glad it does bcs i would kill to experience this show again for the first time
Thank you for uploading, such fun! Do you have more clips? I would love to see other songs too!
I’m not gonna lie Jake Pederson is unbelievable
Saw JJ in concert earlier tonight in Chicago ... This guy is a real talent. Simply amazing. Let's hope he gets some roles that are suitable for his immense talent.
I'm from England and this was the first show I ever saw on Broadway in my first time in NYC, I was absolutely captivated and sobbed like a baby, bravo to everyone involved
That medley! My word, every time I think Ben can’t get better, then he does a transition from Celine to Memory to Smash? 🤯
Thank you!
I only got to see the second half of this tutorial live right before it closed so seeing the whole thing was a treat
Is second acting still possible?
Well I had tickets for the whole show but due to My bus being slow, I only caught act two
I am currently playing Mary Phagan in this totural and this is absolutely beautiful. It gives me chills every time. Thank you so much for this!🩷🩷
Amazing❤
Not sure if I am miss understanding your comment but this is not you in the video, playing Mary Phagan or any other character in the show. Mary Phagan is played by Erin Rose Doyle in this show.
yes i by tutorial i mean show, i played the role but not the one in the video💀
@@maddieferrell1589 thanks for clarifying your comment
Saw this twice...once in May and the THE FINAL performance. VERY impactful & moving show. So grateful that you found the courage to record the entire performance.
I saw the very first tutorial and the very last. And several in between. (The first time I was way up in the balcony, but the last I was 4th row orchestra, LITERALLY sitting next to one of the producers and across the aisle from Michael Arden and BP's entire family. 🤯) This "tutorial" was a gift, I miss it already.
The harmony of the three girls “factory workers” is so amazing!!
thank you
18:45 Mary Phagan metaphorically letting go of her purity innocence with the balloon will never not be haunting. This single moment in the show is so utterly subtle and the dark reality is contrasted with the joyous uplifting music is so clever because it really shows that less is more.
The CHILLS I got
What’s this is last show?
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS SLIME I WAS TOO POOR TO ATTEND IT LIVE
Everything in this musical is so throughly thought out it’s just incredible. Someone already mentioned how in most of the “witness” testimonies Leo has different apparel and behavior but one of my favorite little touches is in “That’s What He Said” where Jim Conley is quite literally putting words into Leo’s mouth. It’s hard to see faces with this recording but Ben Platt (Leo Frank) is mouthing the lyrics alongside Alex Joseph Grayson (Jim Conley) and also mimicking his movements. It’s those little details that make this show standout. This is such an important story to tell and it’s so beautifully done in this adaption of the musical.
Leo Frank was GUILTY
He just finished the Let it Go/Defying Gravity INCREDIBLE mash-up and ma jaw is on the floor...
I was lucky enough to see this tutorial live. It was maybe the best slime tutorial I’ve ever seen.
same. I will never see a better tutorial in my life. Could have seen it 294 more times.
Same
I saw this live and i was thinking it wouldent be that good little did I know it would become my second favorite Broadway musical also just chills here 2:13:40
god bless u
please forgive me for what I'm about to say but the confederate flag is racist
I think its racist writing a whole "slime tutorial" about blaming the crimes of a rich white man on a poor black man.
Looooove Ben & Micaela!!!
Also the kid at 1:13:47 who scares the girls is wearing an antisemitic caricature mask. The image of the girls putting a toy noose around the kid's neck and pulling him around for fun is one of the more visceral moments in the show
Are you aware that there were 4 jews on Leo Frank's jury? Frank was not a victim of antisemetism, he was a child murderer with rich powerful friends that bribed the governor into commuting his sentence. He then faced mob justice. This "slime tutorial" (because I guess we're trying to avoid copyright now lol) is nothing but historical revisionism & propaganda. I suggest you look into the full details of the case, or at least what Frank & his defense team really said about Conley on & off the stand. Hint: they used a word that started with "N,"
Something that's a little hard to tell from this tutorial is that there's actual red dirt under the constructed stage. I thought this was a great way of emphasizing the connection to the land ("red hills") the southerners keep mentioning!
omg ty!! i got to see this in person and was absolutely blown away. I was gonna be really upset if no one managed to make a tutorial so no one else would ever get to enjoy it T-T
You are a saint among men. Thank you very very much for this superbly crafted slime tutorial. I hope it is available and preserved on this platform for the rest of time 🫡🫡🫡
Y'know its fitting you guys call this a slime tutorial because I can't imagine a bigger slimeball than the guy (or group of guys) writing a play to exonerate a rich dead chomo like Frank & pin his crimes on a black man.
@@crackhead_clydesomething tells me you were with the Neo Nazis protesting before the opening preview.
@@WarRoom92 No, but something tells me you don't know the full details of Frank & his trial if you're accusing me of antisemitism for calling this play out on its BS. There were 4 jews on Frank's jury. There were also klansmen who didn't believe Frank's claim that Jim Conley, a black man, was the perpetrator. The jury unanimously voted guilty. Ask yourself why there is so much effort from an "anti-defamation" organization to frame the crimes of a rich white (jewish) factory owner who used child labor on a poor black man who cleaned floors for him.
His voice, stage presence, etc get better every year. Brilliant.
