How many SOLAR INSTALLATION COMPANIES let me source and buy my own panels!!!!
I think I can find a good deal and solar panels. But I want to pay a solar installer to install the panels. Wire in PANELS, INVERTER, CONSUMER UNIT, SWITCHES BREAKERS ETC ETC.
How many companies do you think agreed???
At the moment it's not looking good. Most of them said we spent months getting Mcs certified, why would we let you purchase your own panels.
The search goes on.

I had a garage repair shop years ago. I often had people say - how much to fit XYZ ? - My answer was - are you supplying the parts - if so the fitting cost is double. Why? Because if / when the cheaper item failed they wanted me to fix it under warantee - hence the extra fee. So, sourcing the panels at a cheaper cost is OK but that voids any warrantee on the installers work. He/she will not accept any falts of failures so it could be a costly job to get someone back to fix a faulty panel. Just my opinion but something to be considered.
Totally understand that. But these are the exact same panels the companies are buying!! Same brand, even the same supplier
@@sun-sea-solar totally agree they will probably be absolutely fine. Just ask them to warantee their part of the instal. Any installer worth their salt would do that.
@@PaulRansonArt appreciate the comments. Had a few interesting opinions already. Nice to read comments from both sides
They like to make a profit on the panels and the installation they probably buy the panels cheaper than you anyway. like garages. Garage charge you for the parts with a massive mark up when I was after a clutch for my van Euro parts quoted me about £300 When I said had cheaper quote, they said we’ll match it. I think Moto mania quoted me £200 I bought it off eBay £80. ❤
@@martprice7726 thanks for the comments. It is a big difference in price. So far no one has taken the job.
It has opened up a can of worms with all the companies I've contacted. MCS CERTIFIED is not even a legal requirement. But it is needed for a feed in tariffs 😭
That sorta pricing is absolutely adsurd to be honest
@@abdulmalikyakubu3045 unfortunately I'm not getting very far. Most of the companies are saying a point blank no.
@sun-sea-solar you might just end up having to DIY the whole thing if you have the time, and I thought it was expensive in my country🤦♂️

I bought a Yinleader 1500w?3000w inverter recently and the Amazon ad made it clear what the inverter was capable of. If you saw 3000w and thought that was what it could produce, fool you. If you're not an electrician you need to do some research, learn more about what your requirements are. I didn't think there was any false advertising, even the 1500w output stated it was only possible with increased input.
Even if the large number was the surge or peak it's still not going to hit anywhere near that. Considering I've built a successful 48v 20kwh off-grid system. Calling me a fool is a bit strong. Yes it false advertising. If he doesn't even hit the minimum output then it's false advertising plan and simple. They all do it.
DIY. Definitely cheaper
Yes
Is it any good
@@BobStone-s7s so far it's been ok.
Hi how did you wire the earth? Did you fit an external earthing rod as I understand high frequency inverters build up static charges which need to be earthed.
I have an earth rod on my panels. But these high frequency inverters are a nightmare for static
Hi just spotted this on the video you’re doing for me can you please show how you’ve wired the inverter as I have 2 wires from the inverter to my consumer unit 1 in and 1 out,I’m lost 😅 thanks Steven.
Are you in the UK? You fully understand if you alter your consumer unit in any way your home insurance is void
@ hi yes I am however going to get an electrician in for the final connections,I have sent you a message on your other video we spoke yesterday
@stevenfry7417 I saw all the messages. Just a bit worried about showing people how to connect these to a consumer unit. I'm not a qualified electrician and I don't want to have come back if you fry your house or worse
@@sun-sea-solar it’s all good if anything happens I’m to blame lol
I'll try and sort it tomorrow. But it's actually pretty simple. Just need take your time. You need a 63amp AC isolation switch and garage consumer unit both from screw fix or Amazon
Thanks for the heads up regarding Tomatoe!
The savings already since the 4th December has been nothing short of amazing. Simple idea charge battery on cheap rate use that during the day. But I think their standing charge of 43p is a game changer for a lot of people
Thank god I had a gas cooker when it took a week to get electric after the storm Darrah, solar wind and electric became useless for hundreds of thousands. Never forget to have backup energy systems in the uk ;like stoves ,open fires , gas and candles , thousands have seen the error of their ways falling for the electric scam to replace well trusted forms of energy.
Sounds like you had a nightmare. Was lucky down here, couple of broken fence panels and snapped a bracket holding down a solar panel. But I would of preferred to be totally self sufficient.
Hi I need your help I have a easun hybrid inverter but there’s no ct clamp also can it be set to charge the batteries at night as it’s cheaper thanks for your help Steven

How did you fix the issue?
The edecoa was difficult. Kept tripping rcd and consumer unit. In the end I changed to anenji
I like this channel but is there any way you can stop the video being a tiny rectangle in my screen (YT on a computer, not a phone) and not reversed for most of it? Audio's a bit lacking too, which is a shame because you have interesting things to say! I came here because I bought a small (2kW) Anenji all-in-one inverter for my caravan, searched for the brand and apart from some Polish YTers, you were the only person giving out information about them as a company and the gear. I'll be installing that over the winter, so wish me luck!
@JimHanner apologies I've only recently noticed that. Because I only ever watch the videos back on my phone. I think if don't improve the audio and video quality I'm unlikely to get more subscribers. But I appreciate the advice. I also have an Anenji inverter in my camper van. What size is it?
@@sun-sea-solar Thanks for taking the comments well. I''m interested in what you're saying - there aren't many other channels looking into all-in-ones on here. I got a 2kW output Anenji. I need less than half that - just enough to run my Starlink and chargers on the days I don't get power from the festival sites I'm working on. I'm going to put 800W of solar on the roof and put a 280ah battery in. Then convert the caravan's electrical system to go with it. Fingers crossed!
@JimHanner you didn't mention if it's the 12v or 24v version. Check the DC input for your Anenji. Most are between 60v and 500v and to be honest 60v just won't be enough. 4 x 200w panels all in series at a guest would give you around 100v VOC but a good way to get around this is use a separate MPPT victron or renogy. That's how I run it in my camper van.
@JimHanner I'll look into some better formatting. I think 9:16 is full screen for computers I could be wrong. Need a better phone for videos 😂
@@sun-sea-solar Sorry - it's a 12v to easily hook up to the existing caravan bits. I didn't fancy completely rewiring it!
Good little unit
Very good so far. Part 2 will be the dc testing
you're blocking the air intake on the avenji
You can't really see from this angle but the fridge is actually off the back wall so there is big gap next to the filters. Trust me it's not blocked 👍 but thank you for pointing it out because I've seen loads that are blocked
I did move the consumer unit because it was too close to the filters
@@sun-sea-solar in that case, that's good to know! I tried to follow the 50cm guideline in the manual, but I'm gonna rearrange my busbar and breakers so it looks better 🤣
@MsLemons12 unfortunately I am annoyed by the space I have to work with. I did move things around. All my breakers and isolator are in a unit under the inverters. But it could definitely do with being spread out a bit more. What is your current system?
hi, I write you from Italy. Please, in your opinion, on average, are ANENJI inverters better than the Easun branded equivalents? (I was thinking of buying the 11kw 48volts one) Thanks in advance and have a nice day.
Unfortunately I can only comment on the 6200watt version and it's been excellent. The main issue is different badges on the same product. It's only when you open them that you know if you're getting an Anenji or an easun
@@sun-sea-solar , you are totally right, these devices must necessarily be open. thanks for the quick response!
Currently, my system consists of a 12-volt inverter; however, I've come to realise that a 48-volt setup is required, as the 12-volt option draws excessively high current. I own 12 solar panels, each with a capacity of 100 watts, so I need to achieve the appropriate voltage for a 48-volt system. Noise is not a concern, as it will be installed outside in a small shed. Aside from noise issues, would you recommend this inverter? I appreciate the 240-volt output; I find that with a 230-volt output, it can have a slight impact on electrical devices like televisions. I could be mistaken, but that's my perspective.
@JiffyHand personally, I would recommend anenji. That is an upgrade from edecoa and easun. To get the requirements for these inverters you would probably need over 100 volts open circuit coming in from your panels. I choose to run them in 240v because some under heavy loads you may get a low mains voltage disconnect. Because the voltage dropped to 226-228v obviously at 240v if it drops a bit the appliances still seem fine
@@sun-sea-solar Thank you for your response. At present, I have a system consisting of 12 100-watt solar panels and 4 AGM batteries. If I make some modifications to the panels and batteries, do you think it would be sufficient to power electrical drills and perhaps a microwave, or would I need to start from scratch?😄👍
@JiffyHand that really depends where you live. Check the VOC of the 12v panels. Put I suspect the voc is around 18v. So you would need at least 5 to 6 panels in series. Just the switch on the inverter. Unfortunately I would say easier to start again. I've experimented with 12v , 24v and 48v Unfortunately progressing up through the voltage does make it harder and expensive
@@sun-sea-solar am not especially keen on spending any further on what I already have, as I do not genuinely intend to power the entire house with solar energy, merely my workshop. At present, I have two charge controllers linked to the battery bank; they are Renogy Rover Li 40 Amp MPPT 12v-24v Solar Charge Controllers. I am considering upgrading to lithium batteries and connecting them to the solar panels in series. I would need a standalone 24-volt inverter just to operate drills, a grinder, and a microwave for quick meals. Do you foresee any issues with this setup? Thank you.
@JiffyHand using a separate mppt is good idea. The renogy is a great option automatically recognising 12v and 24v . But here in the UK that system wouldn't be a enough to run a household. I have 5500 watts of solar and it doesn't make a dent in the winter
Good song choice
@@Tonicwine999 rather tasty

@Tonicwine999 yeah they make anything look delicious
just ordered the edecoa, got a special offer on it, about 180 quid. It's to replace a Vevor unit that has been quite frankly a bit crap. It stopped charging, couldn't get any support from the supplier, no refund, no help with support, nothing. I put in a Powmr charger and it's all worked fine until recently but now the inverter keeps saying there is a surge and cuts out, it does it more and more frequently, even when there is no load at all. I am worried about this mod you talk about, can't find any detail, can you point me in the right direction please?
Unfortunately edecoa inverters are very much the bottom of budget side of inverters. I wouldn't personally recommend one
i do something similar. except when my unit charges from the grid, it passes its loads to the grid as well. for this reason i chose to use a Smart Breaker sized to the max i can safely run on the wires available. in my case I installed a 30 amp breaker in the main panel run some 10 AWG to near the unit, and from there instilled a smart breaker from near the inverter about 1 foot , to the grid input of the inverter. or if you do not have 10 AWG i have run 12 awg extension cable ( which is rated for 20 amps ). good luck to you
@@godisnowhere4u haven't quite got the confidence to send anything back to the grid. So I keep everything totally separated with a manual transfer switch.
Well done, good one👌
er.,.. or just use a cheap timer plug without all the unnecessary tech ? - or did i miss something ?
@@gug1970 I've had one of those. These allows me to record how many watts, and kwh hours I'm putting into the battery every night. Obviously the timer ones are cheaper but these are so easy to setup its hardly worth the extra effort using the old type
@@sun-sea-solar fair enough.
There is nothing wrong with the inverters, they sold like this because different countries wire regulations. It's not an issue. If you wired a consumer unit in with an Rcd this would not happen. You would have created the bond between neutral and earth. Best get a electrician in if you not sure. I run 3 easun inverters 5.5kw in parallel and they have never shocked me. Knowledge is key to playing with inverters.
@mudislander864 thanks for your input. I did end up connecting it up with a rcd and consumer unit. But these high frequency inverters are a lot more awkward than they let on. I'm not the only person who has had problems. Even bigger channels and experienced electricians still get shocked off these hybrid inverters
How do you feel about these golf cart style batteries vs server rack batteries?
Depends on if you are taking price out of the equation. For the budget option these hands down. You could be the equivalent of a Tesla power wall for next to nothing.
Still good results ? Are you happy with it ?
Personally I think its better than their 48v version which I also have
Is still inverter working well - are you still happy with it ?
It's been excellent. I've moved on to the 48v version. But I use the 24v in my camper van
@@sun-sea-solar I bought recently 11kw 48v version but haven't received it yet - are you on same ?
I have 2 of the 6200kw versions. They are OK. I'm not used to the fans being on all time. They both can't run 6200w. Maybe 5500 max
@@sun-sea-solar 5000-5200w per inverter or both of them together only 5200? I guess 6200 is not W actually but VA so around 5200w is close to that.
@betimgashi7408 that's each inverter. But the thing that I don't like is the main battery terminals on these are clamps rather than crimped battery terminal. So the holes are tiny and you can't over size the cables

I had similar problem with my fog star 12v 560 amp the cells where out of balance and it would stop charging before it was charged. big problem at the moment, there’s not much solar with a foggy days and no sun. ❤
Probably have to swap to some form of agile tariffs so you can charge the battery through the night on a cheaper rate
@marcusbinner9656 just seems strange why one battery out of 4 is the weak link. Especially as it was the newer battery. I understand the principle, I could purchase a battery balancer but as I had another identical battery I wanted to swap the battery out first.
@@marcusbinner9656I'll see what happens now it has been swapped out. The battery is identical. Charged the same way to float. Then let it settle. But the problem now is I have to re balance the whole battery bank. Which for 800ah at 12 v 15amps with my victron charger will take forever
@marcusbinner9656 in your opinion would it make a difference if some of the 200ah battery are 4 cells and some 8 cells ?
Thanks for your help. I actually think the the new batteries are not 200ah. So even though they are new, they are causing me more trouble than they are worth. When I charged them I only got 180ah that was from 12v on my clamp meter. I really don't think from 10.5v to 12v that's an extra 20ah. So I think I got short change on the capacity
if the batteries have all settled for the same voltage you shouldn't have much problem assuming the old batteries are still in good condition batteries in series are less problematical the batteries in parallel If the batteries are not at equal voltage Connect them all in parallel to balance them before you connected in series Some people suggest is a good practice wish you good luck with it😊 caution don't connect or disconnect underload there's a considerable ark with 48v
@@Hipyon thanks for the advice. I think one of the batteries seems to be constantly lagging behind the other 3 so I might swap it out.
