I've been transforming decorative tins into art jewelry for nearly two decades. The material is just that fascinating. Repurposing something most people consider to be trash is a deeply meaningful part of the process. I love combing through thrift stores looking for glimpses of color and pattern and the particular shimmer that only tins have. Once I find them, I bring them home and break them back down into sheet metal. From there the possibilities are endless. Beyond metalworking, I also enjoy making collages, gelli printing, collecting and sharing Good Things. You'll probably find a bit of each of those here.

Just found your channel and love your videos. Also, the way you speak is very calming and pleasant to listen to. I do have a question. Is that some type of tape that you have on the copper?
Thanks so much! I’ve gotten out of the video making habit, but hope to be adding more going forward. There’s no copper here. It’s all upcycled tin. It’s not tape but sticker paper. I realized it’s easier to print these sorts of complicated designs on sticker paper and then adhere the sticker to the part of the tin I want to cut.
@@christineterrell sorry I missed myself. Lol I knew that you used tin and I do as well, but I also use copper so that was in my head already. I’ve never used the jewelers saw on tin. I imagine it is a lot easier? I never even thought of using a saw on tin before. Can you tell me where you get your sticker paper so I can make my own designs? Thank you in advance.
@@TanKatLuvr1965 I find the jewelers saw to be tricky on tin. It’s almost too thin. I have the best luck when I tape two pieces of tin together and saw them that way. I use Avery 8.5x11” sticker paper sheets. You can get it at most office supply places or on Amazon.
@@christineterrell thank you!
Looking for tin earring designs for a holiday craft show. Thanks for the ideas for what I could do ❤️
Thanks, Christine. I like seeing your basic process for turning bits of tin into earrings, and I enjoy glimpsing your studio!
so cool! fun to watch.
I went to the "Field of Dreams" movie site today. It was nice. I miss my dad. 4-27-2024

Ok. 🙂
Thank you. The universe always has it's time.
I have earrings....... oh wait. Nevermind I have ear ringing. My opolgy for the tinnitus joke. I hope you had a beautiful day.
Have a beautiful day. 🌞
Sometimes if not all the time it is difficult to silent the critical voices we hear in our heads. I'm re-learning how to talk. Thank you. Enjoy this beautiful day.
Though opinions and reason go together like peas and carrots. 🙂
Circles make the world go round. Circles are a beautiful thing. Paper sustains creativity. Have a beautiful day.
Yes, that is kinda cool.
Happy accident 🙂
Thanks👍
Thank you. Thank YOUniverse. ❤
This is a very important topic to think about 💭
Jesus is king❤
Thank you again for your kind and encouraging words. I find them helpful. I'm glad I found this channel were "you do you". 🙂
Edit.... "where" you do you.
Well, I didn't expect what happened today to happen, though as ussual that's the way the unexpected happens. Things will be ok, I'm happy to say.
🙂 can you stand on your head ? Be a little upside-down too. 👍🏼thanks
I'm that jerk, except I don't have a job. Though I work hard to not be that jerk. Lol 🙂🤪
I doubt you're that jerk. Or, if you really are, you're working on it. 😊That's all we can ask.
🙂
Thus the old saying, "ignorance is bliss". Pretend at times, but don't lie or deceive one self or anyone. I desire bliss yet long for more wisdom.
If we knew everything, there would be no writing, talking, or art. And that would be just sad. 🙂
I am first so pin me pls
Your videos are amazing keep up the amazing work✨❤🫶❤️✨
Some words are priceless 🙂
How can you fix a broken horse?
It's the human condition we wrestle with. It's sad that desires are often hidden and reality never achieves the grandnees of imagination and fantasy. Don't over think it.
Yes, and doing with what we got makes us beings too.
....... I would nod yes and smile 🙂.
Self doubt is like mental fly paper. Thanks YOUniverse Sincerely Doubting Thomas. The first step to believing something is doubt. 🙂
An emory board is a suitable substitute for a traditional file. 🙂 Making do with what we got.
True! I'm all about making do.
Sometimes you become the things you seek. ❤
Yes. One of the reasons we should be careful of what we desire. 😉
@@christineterrell So true. Though desire is really a different thing than looking for answers. So, becareful of the questions we ask, for fear of becoming the answer. The more I know the more I like the Youniverse. Thank you for your thoughtful words.
When people talk about “productivity” I always have to remember that what others call “dilly dallying” and crafting is actually my brain processing the experience of learning something in one hour that others need five hours for. It also takes me five hours to grasp its just most of it looks like taking a break
Shout out to past employers who let me watch tv and movies on my phone all day everyday
Play is the fastest way for your brain to take in new information. Too bad we've scrubbed almost all play from schooling at all levels. Love that you are connected to your own wisdom. 🫀🧠
A reflection and an echo starts with you.
So true.
🙂
Thank you.
Art words matter. 🙂
Wonderful !. Greetings from a fellow artisan... 🎨 Now I know how to store decorative tins. Substrates do seem to be the foundation of all art. Thank you for sharing you words and creations.
So true

I personally make process videos and also love to watch them. Seeing other creator’s ways of doing things often sparks inspiration in my own work. So for me, that’s a valuable way to spend my time and I appreciate artists who share how they do things. What are you thinking of switching up next year?
I love to watch process videos too. Making them is actually growing on me, but they do take time away from making with tin. It's just been hard for me to determine the right balance-both from an art-making and biz perspective. I'm thinking of switching up everything! Mostly I want to shift some of my work to holding space for others to access their own creativity and find what lights them up.
@@christineterrell that's a great shift! I find creativity is so important to strike a balance. I also find making videos time consuming; the time suck for me is the camera angle. I can never seem to get that right; you seem to have mastered it!
I live in Maine and just the other day as I was walking down the street I saw a ginkgo leaf on the sidewalk in the snow. Bamboozled me so hard I couldn't figure out where it came from
I love that! You’ll have to pay attention to that area in the spring to see which tree is the ginkgo. I can’t wait to get back to Maine for the summer!!
So creative
