THIS CHANNEL IS ALL ABOUT VETERANS SHARING THEIR FIRST HAND ACCOUNTS OF COMBAT & LIFE.
I've been talking to veterans about their lives for a series of reports called THE PRICE OF FREEDOM for NewsChannel 9 & Fox Chattanooga, the ABC & FOX affiliates in Chattanooga, Tennessee since 2013. I love telling and sharing these stories.
My goal is to post a new video here every week by Thursday at 5PM Eastern. If I get them ready earlier I may post them as they are ready to go. I will roll out new Shorts several times each week.
Here is a quick bio:
Josh Roe, TV news anchor & reporter NewsChannel 9, WTVC, Chattanooga, Tennessee - My reporting focuses on veterans but I also report on sports, politics, entrepreneurship, and general news assignments.
Before my TV news career I served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1991-1999.

Semper Fi! Parris Island, Spring of '92. Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
These men are national treasures and deserve to be treated as such.
100% Thank you for being here with us!
@@joshroe I'm an old digger and we were taught to have respect for those whose footsteps we stumbled in. Our history goes back to Gallipoli and it was pounded into us that we need to hang off every word the old diggers told us, so we wouldn't repeat any mistakes they made. Humility is a hard chew.
Rest in peace mike holden
Honored to have you here with us!
Love you! And thank you and your brothers for doing what had to be Sir!!!
Honored to have you here with us!

Come on, just put up a huge tent to protect the goods and create a huge yard sale! Sell it for any price,do an auction, or sell with boxes, or pallets. I can not believe people can't think!? Just waiting them to get soaked amd damaged and even more trouble to remove from the garden? Why? Sell them asap. Even the Chinese friend would agree with that to cut some losses. If they sell for any price it is better than create a bigger mess. Why people not think?
Thanks for watching
What a great story❤ my dad brought back a Ruger also. But my mom made him sell it.😢
Thanks for sharing that & thank you for being here with us!
The guy in the photo doing this👌😁
Congratulation and well deserved. Always wear your medal with honor for those who didn’t return..
Thanks for watching!
Last of baby boomer born 1964, remember being small boy watching live footage of Vietnam war on tv with my parents( both navy vets) and being taught importance to respect those brave young men fighting the war and when they finally come home. I grew up with having many teachers, professors and neighbors who were all Vietnam or Korean way vets. Great respect for them all and welcome home from me and my family!! 🇺🇸 thank you..
Thank you for sharing that story!
The land of brave. Respect to this man
Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
These Men were certainly of a better Cut~ Too bad History is no longer taught correctly in Schools.
Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
I hate that vietnam vets didn't get the respect & support they earned & deserved while most were alive. I'm grateful this vet chose to share this.
Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
He was more of a bad ass than 99% of kids today will ever be. Never under estimate an older guy.
Thanks for watching
360 days of combat that’s truly a living hell.
100% Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
Remember to welcome a nam vet home if you see them. Ive seen grown men nearly brought to tears at those words in a good way. It means more than we can understand.Thank you to all service men and welcome home.
Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
@joshroe I don't know if I made it seem like I was a serviceman, and if I did I apologize, but I'm not. I just know and knew a lot of great men from that time who went through a lot and were treated very poorly. It's always good to make their days better and to know they are appreciated.
That tiger stripe camo was worn by some badass Vietnamese unit. They’re their special forces & every book I’ve heard them mentioned they were some of the best fighters in the battlefield in those years.
Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
My father was a B-17 pilot in the 381st. He started flying missions right after D-Day. The plane was named 'My Son Bob', the previous pilot had a son (Bob) in May of '44 and he was KIA in June of '44 after volunteering to fly another plane (only one survivor on that flight) and never got to see his son. My father flew that crew for their last couple of missions then picked up a new crew. When my father's 25 missions were up his crew still had a couple more to do. They begged him to stay for their last missions because they didn't want to fly with a rookie pilot. He said it took a lot of talking because he didn't want to do it but eventually he gave in and flew a couple extra missions. He said those two extra missions were so bad he didn't think they were going to make it. The veins in my father's cheeks were very pronounced, they looked like a busy road map. I asked him about it when I was a child and he told me it was because of the altitude and cold during missions. I asked him once which he hated more, the flak or the fighters. His response was the flak because it was mindless, he said he knew the enemy pilot was just as scared as he was. He had more responsibility at age 21 than I've ever had in my 67 years. Bless all our veterans. Side note: Last year I corresponded with a family member of Bob, the son that never got to meet his father. He turned 80 last May and they were planning their first trip to Normandy where his father is buried.
Outstanding story. Honored that you'd share it here. Thank you!

Thanks for watching
When I was still a church going lad lol. One of our Sunday school teachers was an older gentleman and one day he and I just started talking about history. I was in 7th or 8th grade at the time. Come to find out he was a major and had fought in the pacific. We literally sat and talked for a few hours about things. He never really went into details on things just campaigns he’d been a part of. He didn’t like the Japs too much lol. He did say, “I’d much rather fight the Japanese than the Germans. At least we knew who to kill when we saw them. The Germans could pass as an American and then get you.”
Amazing ❤ thank you ❤

I am 54. A nam war expert since I was young. Lived in philly 1979-80 and went to ny, nj, virginia, wash dc… When we went to the smithsonian air museum, we also stopped at their shop and I saw some interesting big books and my dad told me take them all. I still have them in my library. One was on weapons by bill gunston, a couple on uniforms coloring books, some ww2 planes stuff and one on the vietnam war. That one has been my reference book on the war for decades! That book took me through life. Set many people straight on the topic by referencing it. Dad, you are not with us anymore, but your essence, teachings, soul, vision, discipline, love and education made me a better human and helped me try to understand mankind and war and conflict. I am VERY grateful to be your son. I think of you daily and all your life that you passed on…is now being teached to my own son. He is exactly like me and I am exactly like you. I never say no to any book he wants, even if we have to eat pizza or sandwich after that. No joke.
Thank you for sharing your story with us! Honored to have you here on this channel with us!
