Lithuanian cellist Gintarė Kaminskaitė-Rudic breaks convention by performing alongside the Oud and Kanun in the art of Semai (سماعي), a celebrated musical form in Turkish and Arabic traditions. Her addition brings a new dimension to this piece, complementing the soulful sounds of Kanun and Oud. Not to mention the few passages where Cello plays pizzicato making this specific Semai piece, by the renowned Kanun player Göksel Baktagir, far more interesting and indeed worth listening to and revisiting.
