Mighty Fine, Mighty Fine
Marty took the solo a measure longer than Bill anticipated. Bill looked at him like "I cant lean over like this forever"
Gawd that clip blows me away every time. I have to watch it at least once a week. Mind-bending talent. And then they just walk off like it was nothing. Who are the fiddlers ???
Ernie Newton on bass , house musician.
Wow! That Texahoma Boogie!
Love that Sally Goodin!
my great great uncle
Bill could play the mandolin like nobody’s business! To think he was in his 70s performing here!
Superb! Legends all!
Please don’t delete this from RUclips
Hey Nick! Thanks for re-posting this video! How are you?
Russ barrenburg, some guitar player ,
Being able to watch this in it's entirety is great! Thank you for sharing!
Some serious playing right here. Blaine!
I’m learning this now now on mandolin, just can’t get anywhere near the speed. Can do it in banjo, but Mando is so hard. Tremendous playing
🥰😇Love this thank you
awesome !!
The Stars and Stripes Forever Lyrics Let martial note in triumph float And liberty extend its mighty hand A flag appears 'mid thunderous cheers, The banner of the Western land. The emblem of the brave and true Its folds protect no tyrant crew; The red and white and starry blue Is freedom's shield and hope. Other nations may deem their flags the best And cheer them with fervid elation But the flag of the North and South and West Is the flag of flags, the flag of Freedom's nation. Hurrah for the flag of the free! May it wave as our standard forever, The gem of the land and the sea, The banner of the right. Let despots remember the day When our fathers with mighty endeavor Proclaimed as they marched to the fray That by their might and by their right It waves forever.
I loved Jackie Phelps Man hes makin that banjo smoke

Saw your spot on Bluegrass Today Daily Buzz! Congrats on the Aquire. It's definitely got a voice. A little bright, but that's to be expected being broken in by a Classical musician. I came up in the Appalachians on fiddle and spoke with many of the Old Timers, who really weren't limited in what they played. One old fellow who was 96 at the time said:: "We played Everything; Everything we heard on the Radio. We called it Swing. I asked what Radio Station he listened to and he told me "Mostly what came out of New York!" There were apparently quite a few mandolin Orchestras back in those days that played everything from Verdi to Benni Goodman. I really like the way you bring back the Jimmie Martin look. An old acquaintance of mine played mandolin with Jimmie and had use of Jimmie's Mandolin. It wasn't an F-5, but had a shorter scale. Just Deep and Bluesy. You might have heard of him: Mike Hunter. Cheers!
Claude "Jackie," Phelps the Hee Haw eeefin guy one half on banjo.
He's incredible. Makes it look so easy. Do you know who the fiddlers are?
@@johnpanzer2000 The fiddler on the left in the darker suit jacket is Bobby Hicks, who just passed away age 91,on Aug 16,2024. Bobby use to play for Ricky Skaggs in 1980s. Not sure who the other fiddler is.
@@johnpanzer2000 The smaller fiddler on the right might be Charlie Cline. No relation to Patsy Cline.
Thanks! I watched Hee Haw all the time and didn't notice that the banjo man was the hand-slapping 'eefin' guy, so thanks for that also.@@glencoe6305
@@johnpanzer2000 Jackie Phelps also thumb picked guitar. I had the pleasure of seeing him pick his red Gibson electric guitar backing String bean at the Opry at the Ryman in 1970. I was a kid.
I'll give you a $1000 for it..........sight un-seen.
They're playing so fast it looks like they sped up the film but you can tell it's not because the people in the background are moving normal speed. Phenomenal musicians.
Real music love it
Mac and bill two of the best
Awesome performance 👍👍👍👍👍
These guys take serious to a whole new level. Can't stop listening though.
The Cleverlys brought me here
Just another Opinion but that really doesn't sound as good as many other mandolines Ive heard and played from that era. Maybe its the over-popularised Bush sound... maybe it's the Mando it's self I don't know Sams Good at what he does but if that his favorite one then I'm looking even more forward to listening less and less to the Ewww Grass crowd
Well, bye Greg 👋 Don't let the door hit ya in the ass.
Damn the bass section needs to tone it down. What's the point of having women in your choir when you can't fuckin' hear 'em
then he starts playing the mando and i have to turn the volume way down
i cant hear a thing he is saying, yup iam a little deaf but how annoying
Song is called “weave and way” by Norman Blake if you weren’t able to catch it
It’s good to see instruments like this in the hands of players instead of being locked in a vault dying! When laquer checks it breaks that hard shell around it and lets the wood start moving! That’s when they wake up.
The B part of the dobro riff is fabulous! Coming from a fiddle player!
Sorry Sam, I didn't get the name of that Norman tune. Try as many times at the end as I could, just didn't get it. Audio quality was that poor. Sorry, my friend
Weave And Way
Does it need to be fancy or will plain Beam do the trick.
WTF? The Godfather of Bluegrass and not one comment. Had to change that
How great! Wonder if the rosin build up is only from one session? This is so great!!!
Two of my faves. Sam paying tribute to Norman the Great.
2:00 Chris absolutely melts that a string in two
Beautiful family making music together! Hats off to you!
The russians sound a lot better. These guys sound flat, especially the woodwinds.
I was Gifted a 1912 Gibson Mandolin..anyone know much about em?..I got here rhrough lookin at mandolin playing. Sam Bush and sierra. Lovin those Jams!
Blaine, you still got it ! ! That young feller, he knows a little too ! !
LOVE the vocals! How can anyone not be joyful hearing this? AMERICA the Beautiful 🇺🇸
