Good video. Thanks for the instruction. Can you tell me why a PCI-E 6pin is only rated for 75 Watts and a PCI-E 8pin is rated for 150 Watts? Every different one I have seen has the same connector pins and wires as their 8-pin counterpart, but both the 8pin and 6pin PCI-E connetors and cables have only 3 +12V connections. It makes no sense to me. Maybe I am missing something?

Gotta love scouring the internet for videos from years ago. :) helped me wire up a 120v drok meter that wasnt showing watts, had it on the pigtail hot wire instead of the hot wire coming from powercord. Issue resolved by watching closely. Thanks. ❤

great video. ve just done my TUF 3080 water block and will be ordering this back plate in a few days. the product description says it comes with thermal pads and mounting mechanism. does it include the screws? i do have the original back plate screws somewhere and dont know if i can find them.

The warning tags say specifically not to put it on hitch balls. They break and fly off. Youre supposed to remove the hitch and insert the soft shackle using the hitch pin

WLL is working load limit... that's it's normal operating load...there is a safety factor built in to those numbers so in a jam, it could do more, just with less safety reserve. MBS is Minimum breaking Strength... it's lowest load before failure.. might be more... depends on how well you take care of it. Kinetic ropes need care... if you get sand or mud in them... it's best to carefully hand wash them/ soak them while massaging the braid to allow sand & other grit out of the braid so it doesn't cut into the fibers next time. then just hang it up & air dry...

Just bought one myself and the screw and pads confused me too. But you're the first video I've seen which also think that the thick pad goes between the drive and board, and the think ones on top of the drive and bottom of the board. I've gone with all 3 in, they are thermal pads so if you ask me if you dont use all 3 you are wasting heat exchange potential. Also the gold grid on the board would help transfer heat from the bottom of the drive to the backplate. In order to do that you need the thick pad under the drive to make contact with the board. As said the thin ones are too thin to make contact, and if you dont all a pad you are left with just an air gap.

You need to make clear in the video title that this is for making PCIE *POWER* cables, and NOT signal cables.

@SpaceGoats What driver or Torx are you using to remove the X brace for the chip @4:00? Was it super tight to remove the 1st time you disassembled it? It does not seem to want to unscrew with my Philips drivers. Do you have any tips or tricks to remove the X brace screws?

Wires are terrible AWG, i could never use this for my 3090, ever. Just look how thin the actual wires are, can't even imagine what gauge wire that is compared to what I'm using. Even the Asia-Horse triple-8 is 18 Gauge and still is too thin , i had to go with Antec to be sure (16 gauge). I think I'll just take off the LED tubes and try to incorporate them in the case somewhere, I think that would be dashing. Be nice to have a little LED waterfall in there somewhere, just gotta figure out where to place them

Definitely look into using TG-PP10 Thermal Putty instead of thermal pads when you are wanting to replace the stock pads. I won't go back to pads. If anything Copper Shims plus Thermal Putty is the best way to go. The putty is very pliable, allowing to get tighter tolerances without the complication of achieving proper compression of a soft pad, and avoiding the issue of stiff pads. TG-PP10 is rated at 10W/mk. If you have lots of cards I strongly recommend buying the 1000g tub of it. Should do 14-20 cards depending on the card and pad layout.
