    This will be great once you're finished I would remove ALL of that teak deck and glass over, so many future problems avoided by doing so

    • @AncientMarinersSailing
      @AncientMarinersSailing 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for your interest. That's my ultimate plan. However, the teak deck on the aft section of the boat is original, 40 years old and quite worn but, it doesn't leak. I'll re-caulk it and tidy it up a bit for the moment and remove it later. The teak on the cabin top was a replacement for the original and that's where the problems started. The original teak deck was glued and also screwed but the screws were something I have not seen before. They were short and it seems that they were screwed into some special fittings that were inserted into the top layer of fiberglass, never reaching the balsa core. Unfortunately the replacement deck was also glued and screwed but they just used 35mm screws that penetrated all the way through the top layer of fiberglass, the balsa core and the inner layer of fiberglass with the tips sticking through into the cabin. Of course this was completely hidden by the headlining and only became obvious when I removed it all! This resulted in some core rot but mercifully little. Eventually there will be no teak on that deck.

    Sorry this just poped up in my feed where is this located? The boat has elegant lines and a unusual layout below but the ketch rig sheltered central cockpit and powerful auxilary drive say she would get you through some difficult waters comfortably and safely. The water 💦 shortage prevents a very valuable jet wash ... Its a pity the hull couldn't be jet blasted with sea water just to clear the hull. Intriguing...😎🧙🏻‍♂️🇬🇧

    Petites erreurs de montage à 5:30. Vous avez mis le château de Paraza entre Répudre et Ventenac alors qu'il se situe entre Roubia et Répudre. Ensuite, après Ventenac, à 6:30 on revient à nouveau à Paraza (passage du pont) et à 7:00 on revient au virage à droite avant Répudre. Autre chose, mais qui n'est pas de votre fait, je suis vraiment triste de voir tous les platanes malades qui on été coupés. Même si d'autres ont été replantés, cela enlève beaucoup de charme à ce canal et cette région où j'ai vécu.

    Be prepared for the filthy conditions on this canal. I cruised in Sept 22 and the combination of lazy lock operators and raw sewage in the canal will make you sick. Some stops are nice (Carcassone), but most are just typical French obnoxious.

The Brittany waterways are polite and considerate, students in my experience. Our boat is Irish Flagged, not British.

    We hired a Locaboat 1107 out of the same boatyard at Argens back in 1994 for 4 weeks. Cruised as far as you could go west (almost to Bordeaux), then turned around and went east to the Etang. Too windy to cross, boats were blowing up on the rocks. Sad to see all the small new tree plantings which I assume are replacements for all the old trees they had to take down due to disease a while back. I lost a boat shoe in a lock, so I sank the other one in the canal at the entrance to the Argens marina; I guess it is still there. Very nice video. Loved the way you incorporated Google Earth.
