These are the guys who played the soundtrack of the 1958 Louis Malle movie "L´ascenseur pour l´échaffaud" ("Elevator to the Gallows") with Jeanne Moreau, Lino Ventura a.o. !!

I've never heard a kind word spoken about MD. Not one. That is earned reputation. Great musician, horrible person. That's why I quit listening.

Not as wild about the set as some here. It's peculiar at best. The band is not together as a unit, with Wilen & Urtreger standing separate. Miles notes, though, are sublime, like a stone skipping on water. It's nice. It's not world shaking.

Shame the microphone wasn't a bit nearer to Pierre Michelot

Miles very circumspect looking but relaxed, at one point waving his body back and forth, listening with all intention- his playing unique, the saxophonist immobile as if waiting to see reactions, perhaps cues from Miles who looks, listens, looks and plays... interesting clip.

Miles sounds incredible for '57. Miles is the only heavyweight with THREE all time classic bands, each of which revolutionized jazz. An incredible achievement.

Great ! Kenny "Klook" Clarke was already leaving in Paris at that time, as Barney Wilen & René Urtreger, both French & in their early 20's. Exact same period than "Ascenseur Pour L'échafaud" movie (1957). René Urtreger is still living & well, playing from time to time.
