Acknowledging to One China Policy does not mean allowing invasion of Taiwan. Agreeing then need not mean that's carved in stone. Agreeing can become disagreeing later. In fact, USA got it wrong! Taiwan belonged to China BEFORE 1949. During the civil war between Mao and Chiang, where Chinese kill each other in civil war Genocide, the China Territories are up for grabs. Chiang Occupied Taiwan while Mao occupied Mainland. Mao declared a new country called PRC. This is to differentiate from ROC. So , TAIWAN is ROC but PRC was created without conquering Taiwan. So, PRC never comprised TW. Before the civil war, maybe tw can be said to belong to China. But territories are always temporal ad the concept of Country is Purely Artificial. Eg. China can theoretically become 20 smaller independent countries. There is nothing carved in stone. So PRC Never ever has conquered TW before. The One China Policy can be Interpreted numerous ways. English is open to interpretations. Chiang hopes to take back China so he regards TW as belonging to China. But this "China" is not PRC but the old China before PRC. So, there are different mea nings possible for the word "China". Just because Chiang wants to one day take back China does not negate the fact that TW is not under PRC after 1949. USA should make it clear that Taiwan rightfully is independent of PRC based on my logic above. China was split into 2 countries : PRC and TW
