I saw Cky at a gig as a support slot once, i believe it may have been Skindred but i may be mistaken, been to alot of gigs, but regardless there set was pretty cold with the audience other than 96 quite bitter beings, everyone knows that song i swear, really picked up the energy in the crowd

I think what I learn here is I like the pop punk years better in all this punk bands. Don’t get me wrong I like some skate punk songs but I just like the later style better.

stumbled upon your burnout 3 video and now this, your band is absolutely fire dude, will save it all down to my spotify library👍👍👍 feels like some authentic 90s skate punk/ pop punk stuff, really impressing man, love this type of music

thanks for the video man, burnout 3 got the best soundtrack in gaming history for me. It fits perfectly to the game and the atmosphere Got to learn some more of the songs too, looks like fun. The only one I already can play is the solo of atreyu - right side of the bed. That seemed to be a pretty dope solo to me a few years ago :D

The main distinctions that I notice is this: Skate: Faster, Slightly Hardcore and Crossover Influenced, slightly harsher vocals. Pop: Mid Tempo, cleaner vocals, more pop, old school punk and even slight hard rock influence. (Even Arena Rock since Green Day's American Idiot album.) Both: Melodic, Personal Driven lyrics (mostly) and Catchy Chrouses. Out of the two, I lean more towards Skate Punk (Pennywise, probably being my favourite of that genre) but I still enjoy my fair share of Pop Punk such as Sum 41, The Offspring and of course Green Day as those bands were huge when I was young and was more or less my introduction to punk rock.

Both are melodic punk, but for me skate punk leans more punk while pop punk leans more pop. And now pop punk is more punk pop than pop punk.

In terms of songs, I think "Hey Suburbia" is painfully underrated even within the "punk community." Everytime I play the melody, people think it's Blink-182. The purist snobs might hate that, but remember that "Hey Suburbia" came out in the late 80s. Before Blink-182 even existed. Blink themselves have stated Screeching Weasel as an inspiration. Even if you're a cringe "punk purist," you have to admit "Hey Suburbia" was insanely ahead of its time. If they had wait to release that when "pop punk" was becoming big, they would've had a hit.
