Unboxing a BRAND NEW(?) Technics SL-1200 Mk2 Turntable Deck MINT (1210 DJ)
I bought a Technics SL-1200 Mk2 and when I came to open it up I realised this could possibly be an unopened brand new unused deck. See for yourself!

Belo aparelho. Como aqui no Brasil, um aparelho desse custa R$ 12.000,00 reais, vou me contentar com o ATLP120 da Audio Technica.
HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK A BRAND NEW 1200 IT'S A FAIR PRICE TODAY?
An untouched and still packed 1200 Mk2 could possibly sell for a grand GBP
SOUNDS FAIR@@evisla_audio9754
Awesome, have a pair I bought in 2001, another pair I bought 2008 and an unopened 1200 mk2 , 2002 , love them
It’s not new new there would be tape over the counter weight and head shell still nice though
Where di you buy it from?
Who has still sealed brand new SL-1200MKII 's today ?? If you buy something it is to use not to sell something decades later for whatsoever price .
Looks like a web store return, somebody opened it and immediately sent it back - about 12 years ago. People didn't realize what great decks these are back in the 00s.
I own a 1986 1200 mk2... any good ?
Nice, how much did you pay for these? lol
I got mine from guitar center
There was no foam under the 45 adapter it's been opened but very clean either way.
your reaction is priceless
I have one in silver and one in black... Both are very lovely models and I alternate them every four months...... I hope to find the oil to maintain my turntables for many years to come.....
What oil are you referring to?
@@JoeOrber It's a special oil for the turntables and I don't have it.... I honestly thought about 3 in 1 oil, but I haven't decided yet............
@@luismuniz2697 do you want to use it for the spindle assembly or for what part of the TT?
Nice 1. I just missed a bid on a local one. But very nice 1200. Although it's mint. It looks like a repack. Sorry but I open a lot brand new. Still. It is mint. I'm not going to say how I know but I know lol it's missing the foam from back of tone arm.
These are amazing decks. I still have a 1210 MK2 that I bought new and I recently bought a 1200G. Although my MK2 was still working fine I bought the G as a thank you to Technics for this iconic player. Back in 2010 I signed the petition letter that was send to Panasonic asking to continue this amazing deck. The MK2 is now in my secondary system.
Naa I don't think that TT is off the shelf, but my my from what we're able to see in your video it look well minted. We Tech-heads noticed you didn't zoom in on the serial number to know the year of manufacture, and you didn't say how much you paid (you don't have to). Nice TT.
I was going to check the serial number on the decoder website but then realised my phone is recording! You can see me go to check my pockets when I check the serial on the box but then realise... Duh! 🤦 🤣🤣
I have a pair of 1210s brand new, spare from a music venue back in the day in case other decks got damaged, never got used unopened 👍🏿
Nice 👌
I have a pair of 1210 mk2s unopened too. I'm having too much fun collecting these. I use mk5s for mixing but collect them now. Doubt you do, but, if you ever wanna sell hit me up.
Sounds nice. I have a pair of 1200 from early 80s and I would like to buy a mint one. If you consider selling please tell me
How much did it cost..if you don't mind me asking.
£400
Bollocks, no way did you pay 4 bills for that SL 1200 mk2. If you really did then fair play mate. Unless something is missing or insides been tampered with.
@@djranx5519 what do have to gain by lying about that?! WTF man
@@evisla_audio9754 400 bucks? Okay such a low price sounds suspicious... it might be stolen! You should definitely check where it was sourced from...
It is still a beautiful...💖
Reference being it factory sealed box- The plastic cartridge alignment tool is missing (right of the headshell in packaging), the manual looks like it's been printed from a pdf. The 'shipping weight', is for heavier cartridges, it screws on at the back of the arm. The foam packaging holding the main turntable seems to be marked / dented in so many places... not something you'll see from a factory sealed box. The packaging comes like that ref 6.18. The aluminium 45 adapter (ref 8.45) has a foam sheet under it just like the white foam the dust cover is wrapped in. The pop up light is a lot smoother when you first pop it up after many pop ups it's like what you have it there (ref 5.37). Have a look carefully around the pitch control in daylight, near the start / stop (in different angles). Also where the dust cover rubber stops sit. In these places you get oil from fingers and the rubber stops leave a residue over time. Oil from finger tips impregnates into the paint finish over time and can't be wiped or polished off. One other thing when you unwrap a brand new table it has a very strong smell of rubber, especially that thick rubber mat and the base. It doesn't look like a factory sealed box, sorry.
Bloody hell that's a very detailed examination 🤣 The faceplate does not have a single mark, not a scratch, grease dot or fingerprint. Nothing. The lid, hinges and platter are absolutely immaculate too... It must be used though as you say the target light does pop up quite quickly whereas new would be smoother. For what I paid for it, it's still a steal!
You seem like a proper Tech-Head. Are their still any 'box-fresh' silver SL1200's out there? Who knows, but I bet as I you wouldn't say no to it!
@@evisla_audio9754 The pop up light wouldn’t be as smooth if it’s a 15-20 year old deck, the grease would still deteriorate even if was new old stock.
