Hello, Commander! 18:00 I'm glad you learned that flying at top speed will make you overshoot your destination. The blue bars on the side of the throttle show the "sweet spot" for your acceleration curve; it's always 75% throttle for every ship. It's recommended that you slow to 75% when the timer shows between 10 to 6 seconds left. Any later than that and you won't slow down enough. 75% throttle is also when your ship is most maneuverable too. As for landing at stations, it's definitely tricky at first. You do have to be properly aligned on the pad though, which your ship wasn't. I hope the next episode has success (as you said you had a few queued up). I definitely bought the module that does automatic landings ASAP. It can also handle landing on planets too, usually. Once you get better at handling your ship it'll just be as easy as getting docking permissions, flying up to the landing zone, stopping, and letting the ship land for you.

Welcome to the galaxy, Commander! The controls definitely need some getting used to but I'm glad you switched it over to something you find more comfortable. I have the same problem in reverse when I play NMS lol. Not trying to put down NMS, but those ships practically fly themselves for the most part. Part of the reason why the default control scheme has Left and Right as Roll is because ships generally roll much faster than they turn Left to Right. To be honest, the tutorials aren't that great but there's lots of resources on YT and the wiki. Some tips: You may want to check your graphics settings; for some reason the default settings for the resolution scaling is too low and so it's pixelated. I recommend setting some shortcuts for 100% throttle, 75%, 25%, 0% (which is normally X) and 25% or 50% Reverse throttle. I find it a lot easier than having to watch the throttle. If you ever run out of fuel and are stranded, call the Fuel Rats; they're a player-run group of helpful people. Don't try to land on high-g planets. If you play in Open and leave the tutorial systems you may experience pvp. Playing in Closed has the same shared economy and everything, but you'll never meet another player. Xenobiology is pretty lucrative these days. It's just scanning weird life on random planets. You probably won't get any first discoveries out the gate, but it's a quick way to a fancier ship.
