crochet vlog: a dainty little summer top (+ pattern). making my dream wardrobe ep. 01
This is the first episode in my new series "making my dream wardrobe", where I want to design and make my dreeeaamm garments, from crocheting dainty little summer tops to sewing trench coats for autumn to knitting cozy chunky winter sweaters. I hope you'll join me on this journey and as I will be releasing patterns as I go, you can make some of the same things for yourself as well if you wish :)

I love making granny squares and I love a good checkerboard pattern, so this sweater is a great combination of both. Figuring everything out as I went was a bit of a struggle, but in the end I was quite happy with the result :) Background music from: creatormix.com

this top is soooo pretty!! Every detail looks so purposeful and well tought out, even though the dark color was not planned at all :D what hook size did you choose for the dark blue part actually? It looks so nice and flowy
Thank you!!! ❤ For the dark blue I gradually changed the crochet hook from 3mm to 3.5, 4, 4.5 and finally to 5mm

I haven't yet seen what you ended up doing about the ruffle on the collar, but i think some broderie anglaise trim would be really pretty as the ruffle 😊😊 Edit: okay the embroidery is so beautiful as well! 🤩

For thin spaghettistraps made from a thin fabric, use a loop turner (the fish hook thingy). For wider straps in studier materials, fold like biasbinding, fold it in half lengthwise, give it a press and edgestitch.
And the horizontal hem of the pants!!! I loved it! It was so clever and stylish!!! I loooooove your makes!

I've already made that puff and pencil collared shirt, but seeing your one with the embroidery makes me want to make it all over again! My machine also has some automatic embroidery settings, but I've always been to scared to use it! I'm totally going to give it a go now!!
That’s amazing, I love this pattern so much! I hadn’t used the embroidery stitches much either, but now that I have, I’m curious how else can I experiment with them :)

I have a tip - there is a large fold out cardboard board with measurements on it at the Spotlight or Lincraft store that I put on my regular table to put my fabric on to place patterns and fabric on. It's awesome and you would love it in your space. hope you check it out. I've also been using my serger as a seam stitcher and overlocked edging. I sew along the seam line and the overlocker cuts off the excess and does that overlocked edge. Please try it. this is how the serger is meant to be used so that sewing is faster for the sewist. :-) there is an amazing tool called a loop turner. it's exactly used for this. If you go to spotlight and ask, they will tell you. It is also online.
