Angus was an all round good guy met him socially as well as working i thought he was great very generous as well
Thank you for sharing? 🎵🎶
Looks and sounds like a strange insect that is confused and lost and trying to find its way out of a container. Laws should be passed against this.
I remember 'Big Angus' from the late 60s and early 70s, when, as a Scots Guards pipe major he would compete and give recitals for the SPSL (Scottish Piping Society of London) and at the Bob Hill ceilidhs at the Territorial Army Centre Sergeants' Mess, 206 Brompton Road - the hub of piping in London during those years. Angus was my favourite piper and I was able to record his playing, a couple of times on my portable reel-to-reel tape recorder. On one occasion, Angus and his pipe sergeant gave a recital for the SPSL, both resplendant in Scots Guards full dress uniform. Years later, Angus joined the grade 1 British Caledonian Airways Pipes & Drums and, of course, was always in the front row (we must have had more MacDonald pipers than any other band ever - P/M Angus MacDonald, Allan MacDonald, Dr. Angus MacDonald, Tony MacDonald, Iain MacDonald and Roddy S. MacDonald are the ones I remember !
This dude the MAN!!!
Noice 😮
Angus was an instructore of mine. I did love Angus, he was a real gentleman and an outstanding teacher and piper. Great to see him here, good memorys coming back to me. Thank you very much for the upload.
I recorded this video in like 92!!!! Still amazing
Should this not say hsnds off
Fantastic!
Loved this young Band and love it now!
Loch Rannoch
Wow this was in Idlewild California. I went to this summer piping college in 1994. Such good memories. Niel was such a cool guy and I think that's Angus MacClellan there in the background.
A great player and a very nice guy. Thanks for sharing these nice tunes.
Nice tunes. I found this while looking for a live example of Duncan McInnes (I've been learning the tune), which I really enjoyed hearing. You make it sing really well.
5:23 where the heck did that hat come from? hahahaha
he was a legend. so cool to see him strike the bag three times before starting, with the back of his hand.
king
the best piper in history, by a good margin
bit late but great work
I think angus won the gold medal in 1963 william
His skill with fingering is AWESOME
Pedro Macías Calahorro that's what she said!
Gordon...awesome....the rest...sorry...but punks
Gordon was great; the other musicians were punks.
Watch and be entertained! GOD
This is still way tight! And it's pouring! Rock solid for a bunch of desert dwellers who hopped the pond to have a bit of fun. Serious fun!
@saif The first tune was 'Balmoral Highlanders'.
fine piping
Met him in 1982 in London. A nice Loch Rannoch.. I love this slow air..
Well played Eric! Looks like Angus J McLellan sitting at the table and possibly Dr John McAskill, but difficult to tell because of the light behind the subjects. Eric, of course, went on to play Uillean Pipes on Titanic and Braveheart and was on first name terms with Mel Gibson and a few others of note........!
Gordon you RHF legend.
Thanks for making this video available - over 2000 views - so 2000 more folks who can appreciate this great piper...Please share more.....(hint hint)
how many times has armstrong won the world champs? (glenfiddich)
... needs more cowbell?
Is that Bill Horn's voice I hear on the video?
awesome- Kevin Thomas ;)
Thanks for posting this.
What's the name of the first tune ? And by the way Gordon and Chris are both good pipers, but I think Gordon is the best one.
I'm glad nowadays people have enough sense to listen more closely when Walker is Piping. Of course, a little crowed enthusiasm is never a bad thing.
It's always a shame when one of the world's greatest bagpipers gets drowned out by some shitty rock band wearing parachute pants....
the boy's class
and also bear in mind this video is clearly from the 80's... yeah... Walkers like a GREAT scotch, he only gets better with age...
Ill give Chris his right and proper dues, especially after beating SFU this year... BUT, Gordon Walker shits better pipers than him by breakfast... Chris Arrmstrong hasnt won the Glenfiddichs to my knowledge, and I think GW's on his 3rd... just saying... Chris has a ways to go, and the time to do it, if he dares...
love the video, cheers for sharing
Actually... it's not okay Mr. Interviewer. Thanks for the heads up! So, Bill, are these the pipes you were running with when you tripped???
HAHAHA... hurray for parachute pants!!
EPIC. BAGPIPE. WINNING.
Thanks for this treasure.
That just made my night !
Get In Ma Belly!
