    Not a Yellow Faced Honeyeater? Different name? Slightly different bird genetically, found in states other than Victoria?

  • @aclifford652
    @aclifford652 22 дня назад

    Don't think we get many of them in Victoria. ( might be wrong though -- should get out the old Reader's Digest book and check )

      Lots in our garden & forest near Castlemaine 😊

  • @aclifford652

    We live in a place, by the coast, which forty years ago was relatively underdeveloped. Back then these birds were regular visitors to our garden. Now with the arrival in earnest of suburbia, we never see or hear them. Like the call of the Grey Shrike Thrush, their song heralds Spring.

      A common happening these days. Habitat loss 😢 Hope you enjoy the video.

      @BirdsAustralian Thanks I did like it. Be good to watch and listen again to it in June and July, just to be reminded. ( Down here in Victoria, I still see them along the back beach dunes in winter, but they're almost silent at that time. An old book we have tells me they migrate each year to the Blue Mountains.

    Wow. Some of my best childhood memories are out birding with my grandfather all around the SW corner of Queensland. We spent lots of time at Bowra. Hall's Babbler was pop's claim to fame. He knew it was a different species & helped with finding & collecting specimens for the Hall expeditions. Before I was born I think. If you get a chance you should check out Dynevor & Bullawarra Lakes for water birds in particular. Wonderful spots, except for the heat in summer!!

    I had to install bird spikes on our railings and scat mats placed over the BBQ and surrounding tables to stop them from scatting within the patio area. They would squawk around 5.30am insisting that they be fed scraps. Intelligent birds and I've leaned just to live with them. They can be amusing to watch. Thanks for this video as I know now that they're definitely Crows here where I live and not Ravens.

      Raptor Domain is worth a visit. Also a good spot for Crescent Honeyeater. Vivienne Bay had Purple-gaped Honeyeater. Lots to see around lakes and beaches and also the National park.
