Christianity in the age of social media Christians - I'm going to go online and find some random person that I know nothing about to tell me what to believe and how to live my life. Other Christians - Great idea! I did the same thing! Except that I chose a different person because yours doesn't tell me exactly what I want to hear. Meanwhile - God - That's not how any of this is supposed to work. 🤦‍♂️

In verse 28, Ahaz had died. In verse 29, he Ahaz was the ROD of Azariah, or a.k.a. Uzziah, his grandfather who had smitten the Philistines (2 Chronicles 26:6). Ahaz, the rod of Azariah did NOT strike the Philistines. His grandfather did. You have to read this from the true Bible, the KJV, to get the truth from it. Azariah was actually credited with doing right in the eyes of the LORD (2 Chronicles 26:4). His son Jotham was also a good king who followed his father's example (2 Chronicles 27:2) So, the serpent was Ahaz, and out of his root DID come a cockatrice, his grandson Manasseh and all the rest of the kings of Judah after him, with the exception of Josiah. Now, we don't know if Netanyahu is of that lineage, but he could very well be. We do know that none of the kings of Judah that came after Azariah ever produced the fiery flying serpent of Isaiah 14:29 against the Philistines. Judah was too weak by that time and had bigger problems. And Samaria (Israel) was too busy trying to make an alliance with Assyria against Judah and ended up fighting against Assyria and being conquered by them. But, now, it seems that the "fiery flying serpent" may have come into being in the Israeli air strikes on Gaza against the Palestinians, the descendants of the Philistines.

Excellent lesson. Thank you for sharing the fruits of your labors in God’s Holy Word with us. My children are 9 and (almost) 11; home schooled because we cannot turn their discipling over to strangers in public schools full of strangers. Your message is sobering for us to make the most of our time together to train them to make sure they're always among the called, chosen and faithful in Christ Jesus forever. College degrees are tiny compared to eternity in the New Jerusalem with God and the Lamb.

I would disagree with you but just a bit! for the Hebrew writer is making a point and not giving a warning. If you can see what I am talking about then you will get it. I cannot teach anyone to understand anything, especially the word of God, all I can do is share what He gives me to be the understanding of what he shows me. One thing that I have learned and that is just read the context believe it and God gives us understanding, otherwise we are left in the blind! And we try and make sense of what we read and at times fail to see the msg.
