What Have I Been Reading This week and What Am I Going to Read This Weekend? 15th 17th November 2024
Your blanket is beautiful! Hope the bathroom works goes well and is completed on schedule. "The Mothership" 🤣 That's a shame they can't get American publications. Hope you are able to find it somewhere. I'm moving on with my picks for Brazil and then on to mood reading after that.
@cajunpeachreads thank you. I am pleased with how it turned out. We are hoping so as well. I am sure I will manage to get it, if needed can always go to Amazon USA. Once I have finished the Betty Neels, it will be mood reading for me. Have a good weekend.
Hi Fiona, It's been a long week and I'm tired. I've read Betty Neals once but didn't get along with her writing style. I'm reading and enjoying Silent Knight for Retro Romance.
@amy8458 Please rest as much as possible this weekend. This will be my first Betty Neels, will be interesting to see how I get on with her book. Keep enjoying your reading.
Sounds like you are still moving along reading. If no one in family wants the blanket and you might give it to charity I know my library raffles them off for extra many for the library. 😊❤
@estherjane-m8e I am planning on giving it to a friend who works for the Salvation Army, will ask her is she knows of anyone who might like it. Hope you have a good weekend.
Hello from New York! I’m a new subscriber or now able to watch after having many back surgeries recently. Now being retired from work I have time to read, watercolor paint and knit !! I am currently reading “A Fine Romance..Falling In Love With The English Countryside “ by Susan Branch. It’s more diary style and has lots of watercolor sketches and photos. I’m also reading “The Oat Cake Crag” by Susan Wittig Albert…I love that series! I’m listening to “A Kinght In Shining Armor “ by Jude Deveraux. I love that book and never had a chance to listen to the audio. That is a very beautiful afghan you made!!!! My husband bought me some vintage yarn at a local shop for Christmas. I think he had help picking it out ..he would be lost in a knit shop 😂
@lauradunnings1814 thank you for subscribing, it is much appreciated. I hope that your back surgeries have been successful. Please take care of yourself and take your Rehab at the pace set by your physical therapist. My Dad is the artist in our family, it is something I would like to try my hand at. What sort of things do you knit? You have a number of books on the go. They all sound good, are you enjoying them? I have seen a Susan Branch book that Elizabeth from LizzieFayeLovesBooks showed, it looked beautiful. Thank you for your kind words about my blanket. I am pleased as to how it turned out. Hope you have a good weekend.
Your blanket is beautiful!
@@PamelaWagner-xy7fm thank you so much. Am pleased with how it turned out.
What I do for IG is to narrow the filter to only the people and tags that I follow (I’ll show you if don’t know) and when I get caught up on what I haven’t seen, it’ll say something along those lines. Then I get out of it.
@theokiereader please show me how to do that, I would much appreciate that. Thank tou
@ sent you an IG message
@theokiereader got it and have followed the instructions. Thank you.
Glad he was able to fix the oven. Your journal really looks good - you are so creative with it. Black Bird Oracle is beautiful even without the dust jacket!
@cajunpeachreads so were we. Yes, it is a beautiful book. Probably one of the most beautiful I own.
😂 I have the same problem! I’ll just be going on to look at 1 thing and the next thing I know it’s been like 2 hours and not only have I not moved but my eyes are blurry and my rear end is numb from not moving in 2 hours.
Yep, I am now restricting my scrolling time.
Hi Fiona, I can empathize with you. "My good" is unique to me too. I've been wondering would you like to get to know each other outside of Booktube? We can start with email and move to video chat if time zones work out. I'm in the US,
I would really like that. My email address is always in the description of my videos. Hope you are having a nice start to your week.
Seeing your book journal was fun. It's frustrating when the pens bleed/ghost through, but it didn't look terrible. Ah! Your cross stitch and crochet too?! 🤗 Lovely. Now I want to get my yarn out and start a project. I was working on a project last year and ran out of yarn and it's no longer available. =/
Thank you. Yes, it is frustrating that that happened, I can live with it though. I am at the stage of decorating now which will be fin. Am happy with the cross stitch and plan to make it into a card. That is a shame about the yarn not being available, could you use a matching colour?
Girl, you tire me out just hearing all you do! Hoping there is just one day you can be at home and just have tea and read😊❤
@estherjane-m8e sometimes. I do try to carve out just reading time, mostly in the evening. I am not a big TV watcher much prefer to loose myself in a book then.
@ me either for tv. I only do DVD’s.
@estherjane-m8e I sometimes do that but only if it is something that I really want to watch. Much prefer reading at night.
@@readsandeats2263 me too. I have caught up with some old series. And rewatched some. My favorites are Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife and All Creatures great and Small
@estherjane-m8e which version of All Creatures Great and Small? I love the original with Robert Hardy, Christopher Timothy and Peter Davidson
A book I read last week had a scene where they were talking about going home and he was going to take her to bed (how the book said it) the next scene was her relaxing and reflecting on their lovemaking (how the book said it) and that was all that was needed - we know what happened, step by step is just not necessary for me. Hope you enjoy Blackbird Oracle!
@cajunpeachreads I totally agree, having it described is not necessary. For me it doesn't add anything to the story. I am enjoying it so far.
Just starting this book. I’m enjoying it so far
hey Fiona! These videos are so fun! video chats are so fun! pinterest is so fun! love the swap party idea! such fun ideas!
@theBeachbumbookworm thenk you Tiffany, so glad you enjoyed. I enjoy coming up with the ideas. Pinterest can be addictive and you can go down so many rabbit holes.
Another lovely vlog. I do like the horizontal view! Your Dad made me laugh wanting to try the strudel. Hope you find to do it so the pastry cooks through - it did look and sound good.
@cajunpeachreads thank you. So glad you are enjoying the vlogs. Will definitely be trying to find a way to make the Strudel work. Hope you are having a good weekend.
Good seeing you Fiona. I figured you had a flair yesterday, Glad you're feeling better, I'll go up to 🌶🌶 for Rae Anne Thayne and Susan Wiggs. Otherwise my preference is 🌶 I finished and five stared Under the Christmas Moon. It's a Wonderful Christmas and the Harmony Harbor series are on my TBR. Today I'm starting Silent Knight by Tori Phelps for Retro Romance
@amy8458 yes, I think it was a flair. Feeling better today, haven't done much though. Still feeling tired, so hopefully will get a good night's sleep tonight. The older I become the more I am less willing to accept so much sex scenes etc. Like you prefer cleaner stories. So glad you loved the Bryan Mooney, he is a writer I am wanting to collect more of. Enjoy your reading
I just finished The Aviators Wife and it was pretty good
@theokiereader not heard of that book. Glad you enjoyed
@ it’s about Anne Lindbergh
@theokiereader that would be interesting
I am so with you on a Gallowglass story!!
@@StormReads we definitely need his story
I'm so looking forward to one, Gallowglass is my favorite, and we don't get enough of him!
Just read something from Dr. Deborah Harkness and she says book 6 focuses on Matthew's life in the late 16th century and book 7 will be Gallowglass...I'm sad to wait 2 more years 😂
@@SoulStainedInk Oh my, another 2 years to wait. So book 6 will be historical based - that will be interesting
@@SoulStainedInk Iabsolutely agree
It’s great that the shop exchanged your puzzle without any grief. Both are adorable! Are you going to glue and frame them? Cross stitch - I’d finish the bottom and then think about the top. I think it’d look good without the top cause the blue would be like the sky.
@@theokiereader Waterstones are good that way. I did have a photo of the jigsaw with the piece missing. I left the top without a border
❤❤❤
@@lizziefayelovesbooks so glad you are enjoying
I liked it when you said sonia with an I, i had a friend who's name was Sarah with an h.
I always say, something healthy to eat and a book to read, who could ask for anything more (though I would like to have a dog).
@@dorothyjohnson6743 I agree.
That swap idea at the sounds really cool. 💚🧡
@@theokiereader I thought so. Thank you
Maybe put a cheese wrap or something around the filling so that there is a barrier between the filling and the pastry? It looked beautiful! (But I think Mother Jane is correct)
@@SoulStainedInk that is a great idea
What cute puzzles! The stitching looks wonderful.
@SoulStainedInk thank you. They did have a Pride and Prejudice one but Mum chose those 2 for me. They are fun to do. I hate stitching on Navy Aida, the pattern is ok but there are parts of it I don't like. Thank you though.
@readsandeats2263 the navy does look difficult to navigate!!
@SoulStainedInk it is but almost finished
That is a great idea to keep track of your stats! It's well organized. And it sure will make it easy to keep track of everything. 😊
That is what I am hoping. Also hope to book jounral in it as well
The horizontal view is much better, thanks for trying it Fiona! I would love to try all your delicious food, you’re quite the home chef 🧑🍳
@librariesandlabradors so glad you liked it. Will keep doing it this way. Thank you for your kind words, I really enjoy cooking and baking plus sharing it.
Hi Fiona, my gramdmother loved dates. We call stroodle calzone in the US.
@@amy8458 I love dates. How interesting that it has a different name in the US. Hope you are having a good week.
I just finished watching Elizabeth's reflections and goals video and started a search to see who else is participating in serious about series (SAS) and youtube recommended your channel. Hello! I'm Erion (air-ee-ahn) at BookZealots. It's so wonderful to have found your channel. I've not heard of any of those books, but I look forward to hearing your thoughts on them. Also, technology. I'm so happy to see I'm not the only one who gets frustrated when it doesn't work properly. LOL
@BookZealots hello Erion, glad you found my channel. I am looking forward to reading all the books on my list. Are you participating in SAS?
@@readsandeats2263 Yes, I will be. I was telling Elizabeth, for some reason I thought it was only in Sept. LOL
First time I tried Dates was to do that pb thing as I seen it online and was curious and put a few chocolate chips on it. ❤
@StormReads I really enjoy them like this. You can also dip them or drizzle them with dark chocolate and they are extra delicious
So see I did come back to your video. You did quite a bit. Sorry your team lost ❤
@estherjane-m8e I knew you would. It is sport and you win some, you loose some. It is not life and death. They will pick up again. Hope you are doing well. Have you still got a lot of snow?
@ just like here with college basketball for me. We got snow again overnight after 40 degrees yesterday and we are in a winter storm warning for 9-15 inches of snow from 7p tonight until 1a Thursday 😛🥴☃️❄️😳. But like sports it’s a given where I live lol. BTW it was refreshing to see the snow drops on your video
@estherjane-m8e stay safe and cosy please . I love watching rugby and many other sports.
These are so many cozy-living and cozy-feeling winter ideas, Fiona. And even watching this video is cozy. 🥰
@believeinyourshelf thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you are feeling better.
Lots of good ideas! I enjoy going out for coffee or even a meal by myself. Well, myself and my Kindle 😃 I have a "crafty" type project I'm thinking about, I need to work out how I can/want to do it and then hopefully can give it a shot before too long.
@cajunpeachreads so glad you do that. Looking forward to hearing about your craft project. Glad you enjoyed my ideas.
Good ideas ❤️ Good video
@sharonwest1602 thank you so much. I enjoyed thinking of things to do.
I pray you and your parents will stay safe, Fiona. 🙏🏻♥️
@believeinyourshelf thank you Tammy. We are fine, no damage done to our house or garden, thank goodness. We were warm and cosy. Today is a beautiful sunny day, although it is cold 3c. Hope you are all well and have a good weekend
I hope you make it through the storm safely! The Accidental Princess sounds cute. I finished an M.C. Beaton book yesterday that I really enjoyed - Lady Fortescue Steps Out (Poor Relation, #1). No plans for the weekend as such, maybe a few errands if I feel like it and other than that, reading and relaxing.
@cajunpeachreads we are fine, no damage to either the house or garden. We were safe and cosy all day. Today it is a beautiful sunny day but cold temperature 3c. The Princess book was cute. I have never read an MC Beaton - really should. Have a good weekend and enjoy your reading.
Hi Fiona, I love how Rae Anne Thayne writes her male characters. A little rough around the edges but at their core they are cinnomin rolls, I'm going to swap out Mistletoe Cottage for Under the Christmas Moon as my next read. I need a Christmas book right now and that sounds so good. I feel about UK Christmases the way you do about American ones. The Shady Hollow series is going on my TBR. I'm 46 so grew up with The Muppets . When you said "police bear" Fozzie came into my head,
@amy8458 you can go back to Harmony Harbor later in the year. I hope you love Under the Christmas Moon, I love the way Bryan Mooney writes. Definitely read Shady Hollow. Have a good weekend
I love the way you book talk -- you make them all sound so good! We're just digging out from our last snowfall so I'll spend the weekend with my nose buried in a book interspersed with snowy walks.
Thank you . SO glad you are safe, enjoy your snowy walks. What book are you going to be reading?
@@readsandeats2263 The Burning of Rosemont Abbey by Naomi Stephens -- it's set in the 1950s and has a real Gothic vibe. I'm loving it so far.
@kavrees5622 so glad. I have decided that The Awakened Mage is No For Me. Am 250 pages in and it is not grabbing me. Hope you are having a good weekend.
Hoping by the time I have read this you are still safe. Wow. I think we in the States don’t realize what other places in the world are having weather stuff. Here we just got 8 more inches of snow over night and it’s cold. Anyhow let keep us posted. I have not read any of them but at this point my tbr list is miles long. Enjoy your day and maybe we’ll see you on Tiffany’s sprint on Sunday😊❤
@estherjane-m8e still safe and cosy. Still very strong winds and rain. Hope you are ok, warm and cosy with all that snow. Am doing some cross stitch at the moment and will read later. Hope to be on with Tiffany and everyone on Sunday. Have a safe and cosy weekend.
@@readsandeats2263 sound nice. I am about to go out and clean off my car then come in and hunker down. Sometime in a video you will need to show us your cross stitching. I use to do that a lot but now my 75 year old eyes just can’t do it anymore😢
@estherjane-m8e will be showing my progress in my vlog that will be out on Monday. Please take care going out to clear your car. What are you going to be reading this weekend?
@ good look forward to it. I am finishing up Booked Up of The Village Library series by Elizabeth Spann Craig
@estherjane-m8e enjoy your reading
That veterans Christmas and the Arthur books sounds really good!
@theokiereader I really enjoyed the Veterans books. All the books this week were good reads. Hope your reading this week has bee nice good. Have a good weekend.
We can start Blackbird and/or the Elizabeth Penney whenever you want! I need to read Shady Hollow...I've had a copy for a while now.
@SoulStainedInk OK, will text you and we can work out our reading schedule for both books
I love tag videos - especially off the cuff ones! I agree, I read for enjoyment and comfort and not to make myself uncomfortable or I'm not interested in just to say I tried it. I did try a new genre last year and found I do enjoy it - historical mystery.
@cajunpeachreads I have yet to try a Historical Mystery, it is definitely a genre I would like to try. I think.I would like to try more historical reading in general. Glad you enjoyed the tag.
Hi Fiona Look forward to hearing more about the Shady Hollow and Harmony Harbor series.I have a literary youtube friend who's reading The Wind in the Willows, Listening to it is introducing me to the idea of annimals as main characters.
@amy8458 will definitely be tell you about both those series. I read The Wind in the Willows years ago and enjoyed it.
Great reading week!
@thebookishknitter it was. I am reading a lot this month, which is nice. I don't feel that I am pushing my reading but just enjoying what I am reading
I love tag videos. Such interesting questions. I think the book I'm most scared about this year is Brand of Light by Ronie Kendig because it's sci-fi (not my usual genre by any means!) and it's fairly chunky (for me. But, I've enjoyed some of the author's suspense books and reading friends rave about this sci-pic series plus, it's bee on my list to read for the past several years. It's finally time...mabye. 🙂
@kavrees5622 thank you, so glad you enjoyed. I hope you enjoy your chunky Sci fi. Please let me know once you have finished it
