Catholics are the original Christians as they were called Christians from 33AD to 108AD, when St Ignatius named Gods Only One True Apostolic Church as Katholokis(Universal). Jesus Christ established His Catholic Church with His apostles in 33AD. He gave The Keys to Heaven to His apostle He renamed as Cephas(large Rock in Aramaic, translates as Peter). Jesus gave His authority, power, Clergy, Doctrine, Sacraments and Teachings to His apostles and their direct successors, Catholic Priests. We have a direct succession of Popes dating back to Peter. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and scribes for rejecting His Church, Clergy, Doctrine, etc to create their own versions of His, like all other Christian Churches have done.
