Many drivers complain about working for gig apps, like DoorDash, Instacart, Uber eats, Walmart spark. However, you don’t work for these apps they actually work for you. In this video, I explain how to change your mindset so you can maximize your earnings and run multiple gig apps at the same time to maximize profit. Do not let the apps take advantage of you. Instead, you need to take advantage of the opportunity that they are providing.

Tip number 1 don't listen to this guy that's not how it works
Hey Luis. Tip number 1 check the date on the video bro. Everything I said in the video was 100% true and correct in October 2022.
To make 2000 dlls you have to do at least 120 trips per week to cover your costs and make the 2000 in 2 weeks
You can’t make $2000 a week with Lyft in November 2024 when you are making this comment. But you absolutely could in October 2022 when I recorded this video. You are just late to the party, my friend.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
The issue is that the idiots dont see what is coming. Look at japan, you can get anything from a vending machine. Why the hell do i need a store full of employees if i can just build a complex of vending machines like secondlife malls?
gig work is dead anyways gg
Not totally dead but heading that way for sure.
This article from WIRED magazine is in front of me now, & it ALSO is a "long story." Very interesting, though.
Thanks for the forecast! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Thank you so much for this amazing video! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?

These days I’m taking what my hands touch because these illegal immigrants are taking EVERYTHING
I’m not quite sure what you mean by taking what your hands touch? You mean just any order that you see come through the phone you are grabbing? Yes, I know the competition on a lot of these gig apps has greatly increased and strategies that used to work for me just a year ago no longer work. For instance I used to be able to sit at my house and get 40 or $50 spark delivery offers right from my office. Now there are so many drivers at the local Walmart, that the only offers I see from my office are the ones that nobody wants. I have done experiments where I take my laptop and just turn my car into a mobile office and go to the Walmart parking lot and work and I get much better offers while I’m in the parking lot. So I know proximity to the store makes a big difference.
@@pennystupidmeaning….i take the orders they offer……yes….the competition is high
What city are you in? Do you do any other apps in addition to Spark? Have you tried instacart?
Ok so I live in SE oklahoma and I know of so many people that would shoot down a drown for a free pizza lol 😅
I have no doubt that is true lol
Drone*
I drive a small SUV and I have a foldable dolly ready in the trunk. I can do those no problem.😁😁 Plus I'm getting my daily exercise in if I got to climb stairs.
That is a great way to look at it. Having a dolly is smart also.
I had to deliver 36 bottles of glass water to the 28th floor one time on favor. Never again.
@@djsauce4498 damn. Did you have some sort of cart I hope? And you got paid nothing?
@pennystupid luckily the concierge had a cart and let me use it and I only got 10 bucks
@djsauce4498 well as you rightly pointed out, it was an expensive lesson and you will never do it again lol. If the customer wants 36 bottles of water on the 28th floor, he could go to the store and get it himself or leave a fatty tip lol
Dude it’s called work !!!! Stop crying bout it lol why make this video
I agree. My goal is to build this channel by helping others make side hustle money. I didn't think I was giving off a crying vibe. The intent was education and exploration about how other spark drivers would view this. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
When I accept offers that require multiple carts I have some straps, carabiners and exercise handles I use to connect them and pull them like a train
Whether or not I accept large orders with heavy bulk items largely depends of the delivery location For example, I deliver very large orders with hundreds of pounds of water, soda, juice, and milk to group homes, adult homes, businesses, and a local ball park These are easy delivery locations where I can pull up close the the buildings, or they have ramps, so delivery is quick, and relatively easy
Now that is really smart. I have only rarely had the need to have 2 carts so I am not prepared lol. I pretty much have a rule of no 3 batch orders with instacart.
Ya, I guess when you really learn your area you can do that quickly. For me it is not easy to know what I will be delivering to in the small time I have to make a decision in most cases. I only do this part time so I don't know most of the customers as many full time drivers do.
I make over 2 Grand every week. Every city pays differently though & thank GOD I’m where the pay is great
2K a week is a great hustle. Is that just lyft and Uber?
No disrespect intended, but this whole complaint about tipping is so ludicrous to me. Before cashless became the standard, EVERY cash register at every retail place had a tip jar for change. Many many people don't like keeping coins and would throw their change into the tip jar, a few generous souls would throw a bill in or two. Well, did that infuriate you or annoy you? It's been around longer than either of you two have, so it's not new. This is just the tip jar but for a cashless commerce environment.
No disrespect taken. Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion. I certainly agree that tip jars have been around forever, however, the kiosk adds a different twist. The Kiosk is forcing a decision before the transaction can be completed. The tip jar is passive. To properly compare the kiosk flipping around and asking for a tip would be as if the cashier picks up the tip jar while ringing you up and says do you want to give me a tip? That is the difference. You want to put a sign by the register with a QR code for people with no cash and have it say tips are appreciated or something like that, then that would be the tip jar in the cashless commerce environment. The kiosk adds more social pressure to tip than the passive tip jar.
Changing my profile name on Roadie to Offer Not Selected. Doesn't matter how many badges you have, how many gigs you've driven, how many 5 star reviews. None of that matters..I've personally driven over 700 gigs, 12k+miles if not more. They claim to use some algorithm that matches the driver with a job. But I've been physically AT a delivery pick up, not get the offer, for sh*ts and giggles put an offer a less desirable gig, for LESS $$, driving MORE miles, way across town and get selected for that. No I'm good. I really believe that the algorithm phases out "veteran" or "senior" drivers in favor of noobs who will take a squirt at anything that pops up. The secret sauce is to let some of those lesser gigs marinate and let the price of the offer go up, but between the so called algorithm and screen smashing noobs forget that strategy. I would have two cents to give but there you go...offer not selected lol
That is hilarious. I rarely ever see anything worth a look on Roadie. Certainly doesn't make sense for a primary gig app in my area anyway. I think the algos will just keep dropping prices until they find the bottom that nobody is willing to do the gigs. So as long as people keep driving for peanuts, the apps will continue to offer peanuts.
Thank you so much for this; I just started up with Lyft and have been totally shocked at how little they pay. This should be helpful for the time that I plan on staying with them, which may not be for long
Unfortunately Lyft no longer does the streak bonuses so this advice is even out dated a bit. However you can still use this strategy with the per hour bonuses. The surge bonuses are now going to a percentage rather than a flat dollar amount, and you guessed it, that simply means even less money for drivers. Lyft and Uber are dead as primary apps.
@@pennystupid Not to worry, yes, I haven't seen streak bonuses but have been trying to capitalize on other bonuses and also on doing shorter distance rides like you've suggested which is a game changer. So happy I came across the advice of yourself and other drivers, it's saved me a lot of time and I think helped me to get more income more quickly than me having to have learned the hard way
We installed these as far back as 2012. What rick do you live under.
No living under rocks. This was a short taken from the longer related video simply comparing how farmers have used automation to how rideshare companies will start pushing out drivers with automated cars.
Now.!?!?!… dunno where ya are but they’ve been around a decade or more
@@Nowhere788 yes we know farm automation has been around for quite a while. We were just using that as an example of an industry where automation has made things more economical, and has displaced workers much like the gig economy is about to do with automated cars.
even in places where wait staff earn $15+ an hour (seattle here) they still expect to be tipped. same at marijuana dispensaries and i have honestly stopped topping altogether here because it makes no sense if the pay rate is set at the same rate as non service jobs
If wait staff in Seattle is earning 15+ per hour plus tips, that will just drive the food prices even higher at restaurants. People will only take so much and start choosing to dine out less and less.
never do the grocery store pick up ahah
Ya, I have learned that. Especially when they have a full cart of groceries. Now you are doing an instacart but only getting paid for a lyft lol
Lol were making more money than we could make anywhere
Are you saying right now and the gig economy you are making more money than you could make anywhere else? If so, that is really awesome and there is still opportunity in the gig economy but the point we were making in this video was you need to prepare to make some changes, the earnings trends for gig workers has been going down over the last several years and will continue to go down. So it’s better to prepare for that now then it is to wait until you are also having to compete with millions of other gig workers that did not prepare for the changes that are coming.
Scan the id before you give them anything
@@gilliganwilliams1993 yes well this was not an alcohol delivery so I wasn’t prepared to check for ID. It may have been on the app and I missed it until I got to that step. I don’t know. However, the point is that then if the ID doesn’t work. I can’t scan the ID. I have to bring back all of the groceries to Walmart and I’m definitely not gonna get paid anywhere near as much as I would have. So the whole point is ID verification suck. If you have to bring an order back to Walmart for any reason, you’re now doing twice to work for no pay. For some reason, the ID scan with Instacart always works and the ID scan with Walmart only works about 80% of the time.
And lyft and uber paying less has to do with the company selling out to a bigger corporation trying to squeeze more out of you. Over the past 50 years, it has been proven over and over, trickle down economy does not work. You do need SOME regulation, not excessive, but some because this is how we get to where we are now. No restrictions on corporations. They were able to buy both democrats and republicans, and here we are where you can be taxed to kingdom come by both state and federal, rent and food take out the rest, and you are left with nothing but the future of working till your body collapses only to have a couple bucks in your pocket.
Not a perfect system, but I believe you have more opportunity in this country to live a fruitful life than you do most other places in the world.
Be honest. It isn't the last 2 years, it is the last 50 years. Ever since 1978 when Nixon's minions pushed through the supreme court to lift the restriction to $1000 political contributions, the middle class and the working class has had their lives chipped away BY BOTH PARTIES, REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS. Stop being another propoganda machine. We have too many of them. Please be honest because I am starting to lose hope in even independent news and journalism posted because of so much cherry picking by ALL SIDES!
Think you are reading too much into it. The video is specifically about what the Gig apps have done over the last few years.
79 bucks is over 100 items??? HUH??? i get like 20 items and its like 100 bucks
This was a curbside pick up. Wasn't a shopping order. Most of the money is from Tips not walmart paying based on how many items. What city do you live in where you get 100 dollar orders on Walmart Spark? As I am writing this I realize you may be thinking that I paid 80 bucks for 100 items lol. This was not the purchase price of those 100 items. This was what I got paid to deliver the items. It wasn't my purchase.
@@pennystupid i have no clue what the whole Spark program is...i was actually at walmart ringing up my items and some employee wanted to see my receipt and kept asking me if i was part of the spark program...
@@RaheemGostar spark is delivery drivers for Walmart groceries and other general merchandise. It is like a DoorDash driver but for Walmart.
Invest in crypto bro. I’m doing doordash/uber 70-80 hours a week and I’m investing all the money. I’m going to have over $100k by September next year. Bitcoin is going to hit $150k. Invest into altcoins and meme coins. Some meme coins will do a 20x. We’re still very early in the bull run
That is awesome. Are you doing any other apps or just straight DoorDash? You are doing it right for sure by taking whatever extra money you have from these gig apps and trying to grow it and get money working for you. Have you thought about diversifying some of your money at all outside of crypto? Maybe real estate or some other business? Just to spread your risk a bit.
@ nah crypto is the only way for me to hit that big of a number. My plan is to have 10-15k invested and wait for it to grow. I do Uber/doordash/instacart/grubhub
@ I am trying to figure out a way to make money outside of gig apps but idk yet. My monthly expenses are only $2000 so whatever extra goes straight into crypto.
Do you have any luck with Grubhub? I have been on a waiting list with that one for over a year. Doesn't seem to be much opportunity in phoenix at least with that one.
If your expenses are that low, then it is a good time in your life to just crank the income and invest it like you are doing. Hopefully the crypto works out. I am a bit nervous that you are putting everything into that. High risk but high returns if it hits. Just be cautious.
Ride-share pays $1 per mile. Food delivery pays with tips. Easily $1.50-3 per mile
Yes and honestly ride share often pays even less than a dollar a mile. It is crazy how much of a joke Lyft and UberX have become. Sadly drivers still take these rides that pay so low, they are not even covering their costs to do the rides. Hopefully they figure it out before their cars die and have no money to fix them or purchase new ones.
My zones don't pay that great but still its easy to pull 3k a month doing food delivery. I could go work 17 an hour for about 2k a month
Agreed that every zone is different. Some places just have too many drivers that take low paying orders and it is difficult to make decent money. That is good you can make 3K a month. Is that part time or full time? What apps do you mainly drive for?
That's doordash and some instacart I only do 125 to 150 a day and sometimes 200 on sat and sun.
Do you have a Walmart in your area. I would add Walmart Spark to that if you could. Walmart can be a pretty decent source of revenue.
I'm pretty upset I can't get on spark.
I made $90 per hour and $300+ in 3hours in 2020, 21, and 2022 doing ride share! Then they started shaving earnings! I quit on February 27, 2023.. . not worth it anymore!😮🤦🤣🤠👍
Yes, the good old days in gig work lol. I didn't start until 2022 but I have heard stories of the golden years before that time ha ha. In some areas it can still be worth it if you are very selective on the gigs you take. But I agree 100%, the easy money in gig work is long gone.
@pennystupid Yes! I remember hearing about $1500 to $2000 a week was kinda the norm!🤦🙋👍
Yes, I hear that from the old timers all the time lol. The funny thing is 3 years from now, people will be saying the same thing. Talking about the good old days in 2024. It is just going to continue to pay less and less.
@@pennystupid This will never be the Good Ol Days!
@pennystupid This will never be the good ol times 🙋
The profit belongs in the hands of the executives of Door Dash . They have the high i.qs. They deserve all of the money.
While I agree gig workers should be thankful that these apps exist to provide opportunity, the profit can be shared by the workers with the companies.
@pennystupid The majority belongs in the hands of the company, the CEOs & the wealthy investors because rich people are far more intelligent, they work far harder and they have an expensive lifestyles to maintain. Little people can sleep in their car or in a tent and shower at a gym. They don't need a lot of money. Rich people have yachts, private jets and mansions. Those take a lot of money to upkeep.
@@apollothirteen9236 thanks for the comment. I honestly can’t tell if you are joking with me or not lol.
That’s 555 miles a day. To get 50,000 in 3 months. Highly doubt that
@@JamesAndresi yes I questioned that as well.
Gig workings a scam. The cost of supplying a car, a body ,and daily cost of fuel, business insurance, wear and tear, etc. Your losing money right from the start.
Gig work isn't a scam. Ultimately the worker is responsible for every decision they make. Take bad gigs and you will lose money. Take profitable gigs and you will make money. I drive for many of the apps part time and I focus on profitable rides and certainly make a profit after accounting for all expenses. If you are in an area that does not support profitable gigs, then for sure, you should not do gig work in that area. That does not make it a scam. It just makes it not profitable or advisable for some people.

I'll have you know, I DO tip my rideshare drivers pretty well. Mostly because, yeah, they don't make shit and I know it. Always tip your service people well if they do a good job. It encourages good service. At the same time, don't just automatically tip if they do a bad job. That encourages them to continue to do a bad job. Some people aren't cut out for service positions (like me) just like some people suck at management (also me).
That is awesome that you tip your drivers. Unfortunately more and more passengers are taking the opposite approach. Can't really blame them with the economy the way it is. People are asked to tip for almost everything these days and everything is more expensive at the same time. I can say I have noticed a downward trend in the last 2 years. My personality and my car have not changed. 2 years ago I would have likely gotten over 20 tips on 29 rides. Today I get 4 tips on 29 rides.
@@pennystupid that is really sad considering that even with a decent tip, Uber/Lyft are way cheaper than the average taxi. Especially where I live. Taxis here are $25 just to show up when called and there's only the one taxi service in the area. Uber gets me faster service, more interesting drivers, and is generally about half or less than the taxi, so win all around.
@@pennystupid As another tip: ruclips.net/user/shortsMtGUuh8cYAs?si=NgmKxzfRM_4Gt0LN Make sure you're covered cause it's true!
Thank you but unfortunately that link seems to be broken. It isn't bringing up a video.
@@pennystupid Irritating. Anyway, it's a lawyer's clip about the differences in the insurance for personal use vs ride share or other commercial uses. Apparently, LOTS of rideshares don't know that they aren't covered for "commercial" usage of their vehicles and will be denied all claims if they have anything happen, even when not being used for the rideshare. Just another way big corpos find ways to screw the little guy.
Are you bragging about making $32? As a grown man, you should be embarrassed to share this.
@@johnherrmann2865 lol. Yes. 32 bucks in 30 minutes of gig work is pretty good my friend. I do this part time and record videos about it to help other people that could really use some extra money. I think most people that find my channel appreciate that. not embarrassed at all to share my knowledge that can help other people improve their lives.
Boycott Starbucks!! 🍉🍉🍉🍉🇱🇧
This was actually a situation where DoorDash made a mistake and to their credit they still paid me the delivery fee and I was able to keep the order. So this didn’t have anything to do at Starbucks.
Stop you're making it where more people want to spark you're wrecking it a******
Yesterday I had a record number of returns in a single day, 2 for ID requirements where the customers weren't home, one that couldn't find their ID, and 2 with expired IDs Another customer's phone was dead, so they couldn't give me their passcode, and they didn't know their Walmart account, nor email login credentials to use another device I typically have 3 or 4 of these customers per week, and I avoid them in the future when possible
I really hate doing ID verification with Walmart. The Instacart App is much better for ID verification. Half the time the stupid walmart App will not even scan the ID. I look for ID verification and Apartment on the offer screen. If it has either of those, then the offer needs to be a bit higher to make it worth it for me.
I didn't kn it was a Walm pick up, i accepted. I had to wait at least 15 m for the Wal guy to come to my car. It ws 2 Large orders filled up my trunk & back seat. Def not worth the money Way too much time & work
Was that on walmart spark or where you on Uber Eats and accepted it? You should try and sign up for Spark if there is a Walmart where you drive. Likely a waiting list, but the pay is better than when Walmart gives the orders out to Uber.
@pennystupid No way. Most of the time im just doing a couple hours here n there. Im at Walmart 9 hrs a day, the last thing i wanna do is deliver a car full of groceries. Lol, i accidently picked it
