Hi and thanks for the video. Im going on Symphony in less than two weeks. I bought the 3 night dining package. Apparently we get a daily $20 credit for Johnny Rockets and Playmakers. Does this mean I can go to any of these places once a day, order anything under $20 and not get charged?

Just got back from Jade cruise. Food all around was mediocre at best. Cagne Steak House, my wifes Rib Eye was tuff. How does anybody serve a steak like that? My lamb chops were ok. I will go over most of the restsurants on Cruise Critic. But overal not good.

The Eden Restaurant and Le Voyage look like the best out of all of the options available in my opinion, especially when a hefty cover charge is involved! If you had a specialty dining package, would the two aforementioned venues be worth visiting a second time or are they more of a one and done per cruise?

I just bought the dinning package and it let me make all my reservations for a cruise in August next year including the chef’s table. Did they change their policies? First time cruiser so I hope when I get there they tell me something different?

Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…

Just got off the Viva after 3 weeks on a transatlantic cruise. The buffet was the most disappointing venue I have experienced on any NCL ship. It is too small and cannot accommodate the crowd. They did open Food Republic during breakfast and lunch and that helped, but the buffet was a madhouse. The food was okay. There were healthy options, but the selection was repetitive. Some of the food tasted like cafeteria food, not the quality offered in other NCL ships, but maybe it is a sign of the times. I loved being able to purchase fresh carrot juice. They offered fresh crepes! I was hoping for more fruit cobbler. The desserts were very pretty to look at, but kind of tasteless, but maybe that was a good thing since I did not overindulge and I lost 3 pounds! We did not like the hours. In larger buffets, they can shut down sections and still keep it open. I felt we had to rush to make it for breakfast. Not too many people visited Indulge. We tried it a few times. I like the concept, but not the selection so much. Many of the items on the menu are best on a buffet so we can take small bites to sample. The Viva is a beautiful ship and the balcony rooms had the best layout, but the venues (Syd Normans, Theater, and the Atrium) are too small for guests to attend unless you get there very early. I still love NCL and would go on Viva again and plan on getting to everything early.

I didn’t find the “specialty dining” on Discovery Princess (Mexico Jan/Feb 2024) to be all that great. Oh, it wasn’t bad, it simply did not live up to the hype. In Crown Grill (which my travel agent paid for as a gift) I received exactly four (4) spears of asparagus with my filet. Four. That is just cheap. Lovely atmosphere and certainly quieter than MDR (if you ignore the folks one table over watching videos on their phone during dinner). You can get the same filet in MDR for $19 versus a $35 Crown Grill cover charge. Sabatini’s was just OK; again nothing spectacular. Sure, quieter than MDR but not worth $35. Service in both was excellent. Gigi’s Pizza was nowhere near as good as I had been made to believe. In fact I found it excessively ordinary and hardly worth $15. Service, however, was faultless. My best meals were in MDR. Next time (Majestic Princess / Mexico / Nov 2024) I’ll skip specialty dining (and the buffet for that matter - but that’s a different story) and take my meals in MDR, thank you very much.

Hi. Your video did not reference any charges for Gigi's. It is my understanding that as of Aug 2023 there is a $15 charge for Gigi's and that meals at this restaurant are no longer included in the cruise fare. Did you dine before or after the extra charges went into effect? This leads me to ask - if there had been a charge for Gigi's, would you have spent the money? Thanks.
