    I'm pretty new to wcs, so I don't know how many podscasts/news videos exist about the wcs scene. But I really enjoy getting to know the people behind the dance, just like in any other sport/art form. It makes you more invested in the scene, when it becomes a little more personal.

    Raygun moves are so funny, and Alyssa is so cool for just going with it no hesitation. Great energy! My favorite part of JnJ's and strictly is actually the goofing around. You already won in my book doing this. Because you make everyone around you so happy dying with laughter. To me JnJ/strictly is like a playground to have fun, where choreo is more the serious business going for perfection.

    I think it is like poker. There's a lot of luck involved. But also the ones who perform the best in the long run, still accumulates the highest placings in the long run. You could be the best poker player in the world, and be extremely unlucky and get destroyed for a period. And the worst player could be extremely lucky, and everything go their way in a period. But over a long career, the best will always have won and earned the most compared to the worst. It is a marathon not a sprint. Same with wcs. You have to play the cards you're dealt to the best your ability, and if you do it right, in the long run you will be rewarded. I agree with Maddy that being result oriented is very bad. Because the result is out of your control. That is why being performance based is a much more valuable thing to focus on. You can always control yourself to a large extend and what you do.

    Being from the states, we've had arguments adjacent to this topic that may be interesting to consider: 1. I think dual-role/switch dancers already get a bad rap for "stealing" points, and are still generally fighting stigma as a legitimate way to enjoy the dance. All for ya'll getting more points, but just be careful about the language when talking about dancing dual role. 2. Few events with high numbers of dancers can make the variability of judging feel more significant. If your argument is that the dancer quality is overqualified, your reverse role dancers might perform better than you think, especially with so few events. Nov/Int follows especially since your Adv/All Star quality of movement can be similar if not better and harder to judge. 3. Trenten's a great guy and he worked his butt off ;) I know him. He's always building/tearing down the ballroom floors before and after the weekend, volunteering, and helping at literally all the events he goes to. The solution may be more events / encouraging community building so more of ya'll can do what Trenten did. The states have many events run by non-adv/allstar/champion dancers who just love their communities.

    • @ZaddyWCS
      @ZaddyWCS 10 дней назад

      @twistedpancreas yay we love that this is being talked about. Sorry if anything we have said makes you feel like we don't have a supportive/community building mindset. Trust me, we have events that are run by people who are barely dancing anymore and/or below advanced because they do it for the love of the community. We also now finally have an all-stars division. When zac and Maddy started, the highest was intermediate. Zac and Maddy have also met Trenton and agree he is an awesome guy. There is no question about that.

    Another video request I would love it if you can interview someone who is a really good dancer who doesn’t enter competitions. I think there is way too much emphasis on point chasing and status and levels and I would love for you to interview someone who made the decision not to enter competitions but has still managed to achieve a very high level of dancing- if there is such a person! Anything at all you can do to interview people who have a good mindset about competition would be good… And that is probably not an all-star or a champion because they mostly have an unhealthy focus on points and status 😂 Actually it would be fun for you to interview someone who maybe got to intermediate and never won another point but still loves competing. I would love insights from someone like that who still keeps going because I know I would quit if I didn’t see results 😅

    🔥 So far Zac is maintaining his average overseas. 4 comps: 36/39 points all star leader = 92% Robert - did you include the zero points? Surely Trenten had times he competed but didn’t make finals? Or dare I say it maybe Zac didn’t make top 3? I just checked NZO November 2024 and Zac earned 0/3 available points. Firstly, getting more people dancing down is in no way cheating as the rules explicitly allow it. It's definitely gaming the system though, which puts it in an analogous position to "tax avoidance" as opposed to "tax evasion". Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the WSDC has demonstrated that they're willing act any way they damn well feel regardless of what their own rules do or don't say. So whether or not it's cheating is kind of a moot point anyway. They'll behave like petty tyrants regardless. I say go for it personally. The point Maddy made about it potentially diluting the quaility of the levels is a fair one, but I'd argue that our levels are (on average) better that their USA equivalents at the moment anyway and that diluting them would make them more in line with a large chunk of the international scene. I've certainly never heard a foreign judge say they thought the levels here were about right, or "not good enough". I've heard plenty of them make the opposite remarks though. Since the WSDC have effectively ruled out petitioning to help us get our dancers in the right level there aren't too many options left. They genuinely don't seem to care about us in the asia-pacific region.

  • @kaughtknee
    @kaughtknee 16 дней назад

    Some events charge a per category competition fee, so this may make some events even more expensive. If you are keen to get more people competing across different roles, events could offer an incentive for competitors to dance both roles? On the other hand, if those doing their non-preferred role place, all you’ve done is reduce the amount of points for those that would have got them otherwise - so only dance down if you won’t place LOL. Is there any rules around when someone can no longer dance down to do their non-preferred role?

    This doesn't change the main point about more people dancing in secondary roles increasing the tiers & increasing the points available to a community. But, as of 1 Jan, the rules on secondary roles have changed. The short version is: unless you have points that require you to dance up - WSDC suggest people dance down 1 division in a secondary role, but you can choose to dance down 2 divisions and there's NO petitions in secondary role.

    I think its a good idea and not cheating UNLESS the person dancing down in their off-role is genuinely not trying. Particularly its a good idea if you are in the upper range of the tier and it gets you to the next tier. In general its better to stay towards the lower half of numbers needed for each tier. As far as needing that many intermediates to dance down to get to the next tier of Novice, I feel like for Novice its more effective and better long term to just to get more people into the community dancing and competing. As far as "paying for points", as bad as it might sound, I think its actually good for the community. Think about it this way, if people are more willing to travel and pay for events, then that helps the events be more sustainable/profitable. For the community overall, that means it gets more events in general, which is great for everyone.
